Another SMU thread?

This is really bad news, we will basically be starting over next season.

Looking at comments on X, he won at least 21 games 7 times, NCAA tournament 6 times, 2 Sweet 16's and an Elite 8. Supposedly given big resources for bigtime staff and NIL.

Maybe that was one of the reasons he was canned. June Jones knows, what happens when you lose to us. lol

I mentioned several times in the season, that SMU was not very good and their coach would get s-canned. No surprise this move was made. You guys are going into the premier hoops league in the country, ya'll better get it right this time.

Look at my statement again, I never mentioned UNT, I said "openings" as in plurals. It would be great if we won the NIT, but 5 years from now, people around the country won't remember who won the Super Bowl last year.

NIT openings created by at least 7 teams declining bids.

Tech fans would overflow our stadium, not to mention, with their top flight portal class, they will be very good. This could be a blessing if it happens. UNT could schedule a body bag game in their place.

I have only seen SMU play the two times we played them, how have they won 16 or 17 games? Like I said, I've only seen them twice, but they just don't look that good.

I patted our administration on the back, for our home game against the Mustangs. We hyped that game to the MAX and the turnout & results were rewarded. I received countless emails and texts, promoting that game. That said, having bought tickets from SMU, for our football game last season, I've received a couple of emails from them since that game for various events of theirs. I have not received ONE text or ONE email from them about our game at Moody. This game will have a totally different dynamic, than the build up UNT did hosting the Mustangs last month. This game is at lunch time, on Super Bowl Sunday. I wouldn't expect much of a turnout from SMU fans, UNT could easily have 70% of the attendance.

I mentioned this after watching us beat the Mustangs. I had not seen them play since Jank was their coach. They are a shell of what they used to be, that is a bad team and they are going to lose many more games. Going to the ACC next season, don't be shocked if that coach gets canned.

I talked to Todd last week and he told me he was going to take this job. I didn't mention it over here, because of the hatred that a few still have for him. I told him, that I take abuse from a few over here for using his handle as my posting name, he said that will change, when he sends UNT some good players in the future.

As I was saying, SMU just lost to winless Wichita state, they are awful.

That's the first time I have seen SMU play since Larry Brown or Jank was the coach, what has happened to their program? I don't even think they had a point guard did they?

Terrific win! Grandkids were over and I wasn't able to watch the first half, but the announcers said we set a record for student tickets and they also said, they have never seen the Super Pit like it was last night. Incredible effort by the fans, and players, how do we duplicate what we saw last night, for other teams not named SMU?

Good article in the Dallas paper about the game. They praised our administration for "going all out" to get a sellout, for this game against SMU. Last time I checked, we were a two-point favorite. With all of this attention, this is an absolute must win!

You have to give our administration credit, I can't remember the last time they've worked this hard, to get students and fans out. I have received numerous emails and texts, from our people about this game. SMU brings out the sense of urgency in UNT.

I haven't read all of the pages of comments, but personally, I think this is a fantastic pick up. Experienced, mobile and played at the highest level.
