  1. The History The Adeyi family is one of the most athletic in current college football. Ife Adeyi has a brother (Ayo) playing running back at North Texas and another (Ore) playing defensive back at Northwestern. Ife Adeyi was a three-star prospect out of Mansfield Legacy High School in the 2018 recruiting cycle. He caught 48 passes for 1,065 yards and 14 touchdowns over his last two seasons on varsity. He was also the placekicker and a member of the 100- and 200-meter relay temas that claimed the 2018 Texas Class 5A state titles. The 5-10, 170-pound speedster can blow the top off any defense. He’s averaged 16 yards a catch on 115 career receptions at Sam Houston. That number dipped to 13.7 in the fall season of 2021 as his reception numbers climbed from the low 30s in his first two seasons to 54 last campaign. He’s also become a better weapon in the red zone by more than doubling his touchdown production last season compared to his first two years on campus. He entered the fall of 2021 with eight touchdown receptions on 61 grabs. He scored 10 receiving touchdowns in the fall on 54 catches. He’s a vertical weapon and a player who can take a short pass the distance. He’s tremendous after the catch and his track speed makes him a matchup nightmare for most secondaries in the WAC. 2. The highly-anticipated 2022 college football kickoff inches closer every day as we trudge through the dog days of July. At Underdog Dynasty, it means it’s time for conference position previews. In the C-USA, there is significant turnover among the top linebackers of the conference. Only three of the six all-conference selections from last December are back in the conference for 2022. Additionally, only 11 of the 14 teams from last fall are back in the conference for 2022 due to Marshall, Old Dominion, and Southern Miss realigning to the Sun Belt. With stars such as K.D. Davis and Tyler Grubbs leading the pack, let’s look into each team’s linebacker depth and assess which programs are in the best shape at the position for 2022, and which ones present more question marks: Great Shape North Texas: Mean Green faithful was on pins and needles in late June, wondering if the team’s best player was on his way out of Denton, TX. After a brief visit to the transfer portal, middle linebacker K.D. Davis ultimately decided to run it back for Seth Littrell’s squad. Davis’ value to the program is undeniable, and his impact goes beyond the C-USA-best 120 tackles he accumulated in 2021, along with 15.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Davis’ similarly named partner-in-crime Tyreke Davis, has graduated after ranking second on the team in tackles but North Texas is still loaded with considerable depth at linebacker. Larry Nixon III posted 70 tackles and surpassed the 7-tackle mark in five of his 11 outings last fall. Kevin Wood and Sean Thomas-Faulkner each accrued 52 tackles to their names in 2021, signifying an abundance of veteran talent at this position group. Tackling, pass rushing, and coverage elements of the game are all embedded in the arsenal of this North Texas group. read more: https://www.underdogdynasty.com/2022/7/11/23184457/2022-conference-usa-preseason-position-previews-linebackers-kd-davis-tyler-grubbs-breon-hayward-cusa
  3. These types of deals sort of worry me that some think moving to the AAC is a huge step up. I think it is so long as the payout from the ESPN contract remains solid, and we keep the SMU, Memphis, Tulane, Tulsa's of the world. But if the conference we end up in is just a mirror image of the one we left what is the point?
  4. Good article but as I see it we mainly lost the twins and having Roderick back along with big Thom Trieb should more than sustain us.
  5. I think this is very good news from what I can gather. Now the Pac 12 will likely go after the best Mountain West teams to backfill for losing UCLA and USC. This puts the AAC is a better position.
  6. Here's what I don't get and maybe you can explain it better. Looking at the list of most recent HOF recipients, I see Tina Slinker listed as basketball coach. It says she was here for 19 seasons but only had 6 winning seasons? But RV got the stadium built and he doesn't get his shot? Please help me understand your methodology.
  7. Yes these guys have families and I support them as their window to make the big bucks is short.

  9. I just listened to the Coach Bennett podcast which you must listen to here: Can I just say, hearing that Littrell confronted Lane Kiffen for tampering with our star player made me really proud. That took guts to stand up to Lane and I am proud we have a coach that is not afraid to call him out. Now it sounds like Lane didn't give a shit but still I like to see our head coach stand up for UNT like that.
  10. A local motivational speaker is continuing his national success with a new book discussing difficult issues faced by coaches and athletes in today's society. Damon West tackles tough topics in his new book "The Locker Room," which focuses on the power of communication to heal hurt and build a unified team in any situation. West partnered with player development coach and fellow motivational speaker, Stephen Mackey, to write the book. A Port Arthur native who starred as a quarterback at Thomas Jefferson High School and North Texas University, West's life then took a tough turn after a career-ending injury. He turned to drugs and alcohol, and spent seven years in prison for a spree of burglaries in the Dallas area. read more: https://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/article/Damon-West-tackles-tough-topics-in-new-book-17271579.php
  11. We’ll See North Texas: Seth Littrell has acquired a stable of arms at the quarterback position. The question is, can any of them come remotely close to the production that Mason Fine provided the Mean Green? Austin Aune has had the task of immediately following Fine and in two seasons has been pedestrian — throwing for 3,641 yards with 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He enters this year’s QB battle as the incumbent, but will be pushed by former four-star North Carolina signee Jace Ruder, well-traveled Grant Gunnell who arrives in Denton after stops in Tucson and Memphis and former Louisiana Tech QB JD Head. read more: https://www.underdogdynasty.com/platform/amp/2022/6/28/23177556/conference-usa-preseason-position-previews-quarterback-college-football-cfb
  12. What makes you think that? I don’t see him as the type of guy to quit on his teammates. Just my take.
  13. Don't think the ratings matter if his offer list is accurate he can play.
  14. I agree with you but it looks like Bloesch and Phil Bennett are the first in line if Littrell leaves to take over. I think even if Littrell is canned we should think about retaining Patty. We should treat Patty like a tenured professor and protect him from any other regime changes.
  15. The pressure is on UNT fans now more than ever. Hey, it’s never the athletic director’s fault. It’s never the coach’s fault. Just ask any former athletic director or coach. It’s always the fault of the community when a team or athletic program as a whole is not successful. It’s the community that gets the blame for not supporting the university’s athletic teams. It’s the community that is apathetic. It’s the community that should be held accountable. Just ask Seth Littrell. Well, look out, North Texas fans. Hold onto your wallets. Make sure to protect your bank passwords. The Mean Green are coming after you. Do you want the Mean Green football and men’s basketball teams to win AAC titles, find itself in the Top 25 every year and play in meaningful bowl games and NCAA Tournaments? Of course you do. Well, big-time point guards and quarterbacks don’t come cheap anymore, Mean Green fans. So toss some of your retirement funds UNT's way. Buy season tickets for everyone in your family. Give them away as Christmas gifts. Let your grandchildren figure out a way themselves to pay for their own college education or tell them to become a big-time point guard or quarterback. Your university needs you. GMG
  16. I found this yesterday while perusing the UNT archives and found it interesting: https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc1040494/m1/
