  1. Man that bothers me, maybe we should take a collection and buy DD a copy. Coaching Football For Dummies On another note I keep hearing about this Tune kid, is everyone impressed with this kid? Seems to be a recurring theme.
  2. I am already campaigning first timers for the SMU game, selling the tailgating experience hardcore. It would be nice to have a win this game. Just as long as we don't get Killed.
  3. eulesseagle, Not to say you were on the sauce, but I thought maybe there was something to make me feel better about the upcoming season. OK, maybe that would be the sauce for me! And you can pick the poison. gangrene, To me, my expectations for UNT is to put out a winning team year after year until we're in a BCS conference and then I will be looking for that National Championship. As far as I am concerned for the time being as weak as the Sun Belt is we should dominate it every year until we move up to a better conference. But what I expect this year realistically, will fall far short of my expectations. I hope I am wrong! We will see shortly. It would be nice if we came out strong against UT and beat the ever living sh#t out SMU. That would be more to my expectations. I think that realistically is the key word!
  4. The title to this thread is, "(green-tinted glasses removed) What should we, realistically expect from this season??" The answer you give should be as if you had to bet your life on it. My gut instinct says 2 wins at best, my heart wishes for much more. Realistically is a tough one. Some are saying we will have a winning season, but is that what they are hoping for or what they truly believe. I hope for a winning season, hell I would love to see us go undefeated this season, but I know better.
  5. History matters, but this is not for the history books. It was an insignificant game to UT. We didn't win. But we talk about that game like we are on an episode of Married with Children; "that one time we should have won against UT and those cowardly refs took it away from us" then Al sticks his hand back in his pants, like that is our only glory.
  6. But how many students does Baylor have? And how big is Waco? We have something like three times the enrollment with all of DFW to pull from. If they get 10,000 we should get 30,000 easy.
  7. I was a commuter and in a Fraternity! Dang! But the more students that live up in Denton the better! If I had lived there and did not have to work five days a week at UPS I would have been to more events. I still think the biggest problem is the example most of the Faculty and administration set for their students. This indifference and almost utter disdain for sports I felt my freshman and sophomore years was shocking to me. I came from a very spirited high school. I believe that is what gave some of my drive toward UNT spirit.
  8. I was not happy about that game, but whats worst is that it is 18 years later and we are still dwelling in it. We need to move on!
  9. Rick, I think you have done a hell of a job and probably more than most of us know especially with the attitudes that are present in our University. I was very impressed at your support at the GMG Bowl, thanks again. My biggest question for you is; are you planning to have your quarterly meetings ever again? I was looking forward to going! If I am out of the loop and missed one lately please forgive me. Tony
  10. Who is 4th? I thought last I checked UNT was 4th behind Houston, ATM, and UT.
  11. I watched that replay at least ten times, Patrick looks great!! Great clip and the part where the announcer talks him up is pretty awesome. It just doesn't get old!!! "Perhaps no one on the entire roster opened eyes as much as Cobbs; 5 carries for 25 yards on the ground, plus 3 catches for 80 yards including the touchdown" 3:21 is the start of the quote. Man that give me chills of excitement. Keep it going Patrick!!!
  12. Amon Carter from above! Amon Carter
  13. The Correct answer is "Hangover"!!! But very excited for Patrick! After his touchdown I bought a few rounds of shots to celebrate. Unfortunately spell check does not find missing words.
  14. I was at the Stars Center in Farmers Branch, drinking with some of my teammates after our hockey game when I remembered that Cobbs was playing. I talked the bartender turning from the Ranger game. Dang not five minutes later Cobbs breaks loose. I went nuts I am sure about 30-40 people in the bar must have thought I was off my rocker. Why to go Patrick!!!
  15. I had the feeling that was his fear of this year's record.
  16. If you get there early enough it is all open, and several of us have the Orange parking passes, so it could work here or on the other side of the orange where it borders the general parking on the north side. Maybe even talk to RV and see if we can reserve an area until a couple hours before the game, and if we have not filled it the the area is fair game.
  17. Just goes to show what 4 trips to New Orleans will get you, nothing! Maybe some OCC wins? Go figure. Until we are a real threat, we will always be a joke. But our AD should still be raising hell!
  18. Come on y'all, the NCAA has much more important things to like keeping track of their self imposed PC-Police status. Remember they are more worried about team names and mascots.
  19. That reminds me of the Tulsa game, I hope we have a better result.
  20. I think if we had several tailgating tents up and down the rows in the parking lot but in the same area there would be a great social atmosphere. Like walking from bar to bar on Bourbon street the night before a game. My thoughts
  21. Thanks to TIVO and similar machines conflicts should become less of a factor.
  22. I do not really care what they have to say I am more interested in getting people fired up for the upcoming game in Denton. In fact I figured the SMU fans would have been a little more imaginative, then just trying to talk down to UNT. I guess the education level has really slipped at that institution over the last twenty years. The SMU boys do not seem to know the difference between a college town and large city. I really hate when an expensive school like SMU fails their students, that should be a crime.
