  1. I think any offense ran should be one that rules inside the hash marks, make the offense successful through controlling the seams, running in cuts, slants, posts and curls against zones. Our offense is almost exclusively reliant on out routes, quick screens, and throwing to the flats, which, in my humble opinion is a recipe for disaster. Way too many opportunities to throw INT's because of lack of timing as well as a decent qb. In Air Raid offenses like the Leach's and Sumlins of the world, they win by controlling the middle of the field and running a quick tempo. I've said it before and I'll say it again, those offenses aren't hugely complex, but they are run with efficiency(for the most part). A spread offense is great, but the right spread offense is deadly.
  2. My question is, when Mac had Seneca Wallace as his QB during his only successful seasons at Iowa State, did he run the ball 70% of the time? Were the defense and special teams utterly dominant? Or did he use a quarterback who was clearly a spread qb, in a system where he would succeed? Or, did Wallace just improvise an ancient offense and basically give Mac the middle finger while being successful
  3. Kevin Sumlin seems to have done alright running the Air Raid. All those coaches run the Air Raid. Different system than the spread. Albeit there are similarities

  5. Crane and Odessa? I'm from Midland originally. Thought I was the only West Texan around here
  6. I'm not your bud. I don't know you. You don't know me. I don't care to know you. Let's agree to disagree. Hell, it wont affect me after I graduate anyways. So I don't even know why I'm wasting time with this
  7. Actually, a majority of the permenant residents voted against the ban. It was the 60,000 some odd combined college students that voted 90% for the ban. I'm from Midland Texas, which, last time I checked had the lowest unemployment rate in the country because of oil and gas. The ban will hurt Denton more than you think. A lot of people will lose jobs
  8. I would rather have Noah Joseph back. Trice was great no doubt, but our secondary coaches have done a horrible job with what was supposed to be our defensive strength this season. I would love to see Bellazin back. We get no pressure, and he was solid every game for us
  9. I might add that although we suck offensively, our defense might be worse. We can't stop a nosebleed
  10. Daryl Mason had a fantastic game. Shame that he is a senior.
  11. I don't think McNulty is as bad as a lot people think, I also don't think Dajon is as good as some people believe he is. The real problem we have here is the fact that Canales hasn't developed a steady replacement for DT, and that Mac might be too old school for his own good. Point being, the only "Pro-style" QB we have currently have on the roster is Greer, and we all know how that turned out. Why continue to waste our time trying to run the ball up the gut 10 times in a row, although the play calling has considerably opened up more as the season has gone on. Pick one style of offense and run it. We looked damn good in the first half running the up tempo spread, once we got back to huddling every single play the offense did nothing. Look at what Leach did at Tech, what Sumlin has done at Houston and A&M. Those offenses are simple, maybe 40-50 plays in the playbook, but those 40-50 plays are run to perfection, and it simplifies things for the entire offense. I don't think the QB is the main problem, I think the shackles that our coach puts on the offense is
  12. Agreed. With DW at the helm we should not have a big bruiser running the ball out of the shotgun. More jimmerson and the freshman when we spread it out
  13. My original prediction was 7-5. I think 6-6 is not unreasonable at this point. Especially with UTSA and Rice struggling(with the exception if rice's win today). Win out at home rest of the year and steal an away game from one of those two. It's possible
  14. Old Crow Reserve. Burns so good
  15. If we can shore up the defense and stop making so many stupid mistakes we can win 4-5 of our remaining games. Nobody else on our schedule is totally dominant. Our offense moved the ball fairly well and scored the few times we were in the red zone. I have faith Skladany will get our defense somewhat back on track. I still have hope
  16. Rutherford is also extremely lanky and raw. I wouldn't be surprised to see solid development in a year. Especially after Wintrich gets done with him
  17. I'm a Decision Sciences major and have been to every game this year. I would say a good 1/3 to 1/2 of all my classes have shown some more interest in the program. People are hearing about DW and things are stirring a bit more, at least as compared to last year in the first 5 games
  18. You know, I find this point very interesting in comparison to some other teams' games I've been to, particularly A&M. It's a beautiful sight as a college football fan being in Kyle Field seeing 90,000+ yelling at one time on NOT JUST THIRD DOWN. A&M fans yell on first, second, third, and fourth down as long as their defense is on the field. You can't hear yourself think and its amazing to be a part of and witness the sheer noise made on every single defensive snap for the aggies, regardless if you're 5 or 85. Then magically, on offense, it gets so quiet you can hear a pin drop. I sit on the student side(Senior this year) and am amazed at the lack of a)noise on first and second downs(last time I checked every defensive snap is important) and b)complete lack of common knowledge that you SHUT UP WHEN WE'RE ON OFFENSE. We may only crack 20k a game, but I know it can get loud, I've been a part of it, but it's amazing how many dumbfounded stares and snickers I get for yelling on first and second down on defense. So trust me, the student section does a decent job, but it can always be better on both sides. I don't mind the funny looks, I just want Apogee to do everything they can to help our team win
  19. I believe Tee will be great for us, but the more intriguing player to me is O'Keeron Rutherford. Saw him standing next to Ivery and good lord is he huge. If he has any sort of straight line speed he could be a fantastic deep ball/red zone target.
  20. It was interesting(not surprising) to me when they were announcing the starting line-up and when DW came on the board the entire stadium erupted. If that doesn't get you going as a player. I don't know what does.
  21. He seems much more decisive in the return game. Not to knock Carlos Harris, but he dances too much and tries to make a TD return, every return. Kidsy makes his cut and goes. I would much rather see that on a return
  22. Just got injured too. Walked off on his own power, might be something to monitor
  23. I did not know that. I guess you could call my prediction a low ball number then, at least as far as accuracy goes
  24. I have a feeling of something like 50% completion for 150 yards and a TD through the air. Maybe 5 rushes for 30 yards or so. I think that's a fair prediction. Better than what we've seem, but not a stud by any means. At least for the first game
  25. Just spoke to a guy in my class that is good friends with John Chelf. According to Chelf, Dajon is fairly clueless as far as the playbook goes, but they didn't run the ball once in practice. Literally threw it the entire time. So that should be interesting to see how that works out.
