DRC breaking news -- UNT fee vote passes
Ben Gooding replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I am 100% convinced otherwise. UNT fans, students, alum would've came out for that game. 4 hour drive against a name opponent. I did not go to NOLA vs Troy. I had no intention of it. I 100% would've went to Shreveport and I know many others are in this same boat with me.- 113 replies

7 losses of 6 points or less has been damning to the season. Imagine if those 7 losses had bounced our way much like they did in football. We'd have a 21-7 basketball team and GM would be a voodoo magic worker. It's crazy how season's can be flipped one way or another on a dime. On the same token, we've had 8 wins of 6 points or less. So, we've kind of split these nailbiter games. Otherwise, GM could be looking like a very, very bad hire had we not. A possible 6-22 record just as easily . Competitiveness is where a foundation is laid we definitely have a solid one as of now.

That's an ugly loss, another one. Gotta hem that bs up. The improvement of the team is visible and competitiveness is there, but you can keep playing the bottom half of the league in nailniters if the team ever wants to be taken seriously as a contender. Letting an 11-16 team shoot the ball at 50% is laughable. And if I look at another boxscore and see FT's in 50ish% I'm gonna wig out.

In these areas there have been minimal if any improvement. However, I think this staff and GM has gotten this team to play with enthusiasm and the will to win . So, yes, I like this staff. There is no reason not to right now. I think a 20-win season is sitting on the docket next year.

I don't think that's asking for too much at all. I think that's asking for the acceptable standard at the FBS level of football.

I'm not going to go through the effort of looking it up because it's not that important, but from the beginning he's been saying he wants to get other programs the support they need before we can turn the page to baseball. He has also emphasized the beginning of a baseball program, but stood strong on building up the other programs first.
-
What dynamite? He's been saying this almost verbatim for over a year.

I can give you two reasons... 1. Turnovers 2. Free throw shooting

So, this life of uncertainty doesn't afford them the opportunity to quit bitching and use their legs? -

Sounds good. And I get so damn tired of students complaining of parking or anything else for that matter. -
The season hardly ended. IMO, the off season doesn't really start until after Spring Ball. That is when the reigns are completely handed off and strength training and weight gain/loss starts to truly happen.

Quarterly Update on UNT Indoor Practice Facility etc
Ben Gooding replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
The delay of this process is starting to get egregious. Like @BTG_Fan1 said, take some of that newly funded money and call it funded and start moving dirt.- 18 replies

Now that the Athletic Fee has been set....

Do away with the big scoreboard? I think you misread that. No way that is going to happen. -

Good stuff. Nice recruiting tool over nutsack as well. Does this mean we're now a sport school... -
4'9" to 6'9", McCasland could use any or all that can hit free throws.

With a QB that at times already shows issues with field vision, I don't think sliding him to guard makes sense. He is a good run blocker and maybe someone we could get out in open space on screens, etc.
-
Profess to him that he must lose another 25 pounds and do a ton of rope exercises all off season. See if he fairs better in Spring ball and Fall camp. If not, I don't think we can afford to take away our drags/slants/seams by having him as a staple at guard, because that is what would happen. So, if no improvement there after the loss of weight and rope exercises, bench him.

This is good news and pub for the conference as a whole. It also opens the door up for 2 teams to get in the NCAA tourney if Middle slips up in Frisco.
-
Nothing really worries me on offense, including the OL. If the D shows some improvement and grit then this team will improve leaps and bounds. If we can get to the mid to high 20's (25-29) in ppg defensively, this is a 10-win team.

Athlon Ranks UNT as the 70th best team heading into 2018
Ben Gooding replied to MGNation92's topic in Mean Green Football
The 27 plays of more than 40 yards is a stat I had not heard and is crazy just to read in a sentence. -
BS. We still sitting on hands after this one?
