19' OG Offer: Marcus Alexander (Sunnyvale) - 3 star
Ben Gooding replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Not to go round and round with you for another offseason on recruiting, but I don't care if they can evaluate talent. Our opponents will not care about what kind of talent evaluators they are. At some point, consistency has to be established in recruiting. And under this staff we are consistently 9-11 in CUSA ratings. And this will be class number 4 under this staff. If Seth Littrell wants to move on to greener pastures (And according to Tennessee he does), he needs to step up his recruiting game. Otherwise, he will be our version of Rick Stockstill...Just never quite sexy enough to attract a big contract. -

DRC: UNT to pay $625,245 for new Apogee turf
Ben Gooding replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Good update. Never understood all the blk outlining the old turf. And as someone mentioned, it looked old and dirty from the get go. -

DRC: Five reasons for pessimism heading into 2018

So you don't want to be associated with Christianity? You're letting your personal beliefs cloud your judgement while basically condemning the beliefs of millions of people. And if you don't agree with your thought processes then be damned you go. But I digress, who exactly is the Nazi in this situation? Live and let live, man.

Does UTEP start factoring in C-USA West?
Ben Gooding replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
No. -
It was dumb. I don't hate getting out of the Army serious near as much as I hate traveling to Liberty, which is dumber. So, they just doubled down on the dumbness of this.

Beaten fan syndrome...It's contagious and helpless. I have come to learn that expectations are very sporadic and on a very wide spectrum around these parts, almost on an individual to individual basis. The people with the average to above average expectations have to set them in concrete and hunker down, because the hand grenades are going to be thrown over the wall by the beaten fans with a "how dare you" attitude. As for the "mega" camp, it's only mega in name. However, I do like the fact that we are hosting so it could be opportunistic for UNT for the reasons that some posters have stated.

Agreed. Proof? As being offered a job as he initially claimed? If anything, GreenJW provided some substance, but even then it's just an interview invite. All 3 of those programs had their guy very early, so they very well were just doing their due diligence. I would say SL had to of known that and didn't want to waste his time. However, he knew there was turmoil and uncertainty during the Tennessee search and decided to try and ride the gravy train...

When BS speaks to me, I speak back. Your claim is that a practical blueblood program (bc if they're a bigger name than Tech, the next step up is a blueblood or close to it) OFFERED SL and he declined to stay at UNT while applying to a bigger name school than Tech in Tennessee. If I'm running with your words, please stop me. If not, it's just some simple BS.

I don't know if he will leave this year and I don't know if Tech will be the destination when he does leave. But what I do know is that he is not in this thing for the long haul. He's counting his chips...well not really. He's out the door with an FBS P5 HC offer from any and all. And if he's not offered, damnit he's going to apply. We are whipping boys in his eyes that just happen to be the people currently cutting his check. I mean think about it...He played at OU and then coached at Tech, Indy, Arizona, and North Carolina. When teams like us inevitably showed up on the schedule, it wss time to boost those offensive stats and win going away. Now, he fell into what he surely used to view as one of these very holes, player and coach, and he's apparently looking for an exit strategy. I will root for the dubs and chastise harder during the L's for this very reason. Loyalty is 2-way. But it's a financial business and he's gotta get it while he can. That doesn't mean my viewpoint changes due to that. To the point, I would be pleased with 9-3. So as long as the cumulative score of those 3 doesn't end up being 1,478,412 to 60.

FAU is not getting mudholed at OU. I would not be surprised at all to see FAU compete in that game and maybe even win it.
-
Because he is applying to open jobs? So, if anything in the realm of a P5 job opens up and sniffs around at him he's gone. Or he'll sniff around if something opens up like in this case. It's obvious that he is not looking to be the next Gary Patterson or the next Chris Peterson at Boise, but he too even eventually jumped ship. And if you still can't see the writing on the wall, his track record as a coordinator should fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle for you.

Yeah, just read that. IOW, he's penciling himself onto a roster for security purposes with the eraser handy if what he views a sexier offer falls in his lap.

Ratings aside (this moment), this is the most talented player Littrell has landed. Great stuff and congrats to all involved. Welcome aboard, Garrison. GMG
