  1. T Boone needs to get his windtricity business plan "cooking." Either way, Pickens has been a godsend for that program.
  2. Congrats Dr. B and Ricky V. More importantly, its great for the future of the University. Multi use venue in one of the hot beds in the real estate market of Texas. I bet Rick V. was sweating bullets. This is definintely not about today but its for the kids of FFR, Emmitt, and all the true die hards of NT football. The music, the sound of the game, the site lines, are really going to be special.
  3. You could also sell spots to run the wrecking ball that takes down Fouts.
  4. Then you hear two students being interviewed saying... "....I have no use for a stadium and never will"..............".....If you want to improve your football program then how about win some games?". That bs, tell those kids to go the U of Dallas or elsewhere. Phone call was not taken but voice mail was excepted and placed.
  5. I don't think Riley is coming in to play QB. Interceptions this season have been on batted balls at the line of scrimmage and one int. this past game, where Casey flat out fell down when the ball was in the air. Int's have not been bad decisions where you throw it in to double coverage or make poor reads from what I have seen on TV. Every QB deserves their shot at it, if they earn it in practice. If Riley gets his, so be it, Todge and Ford will have their reasons. Ford has to do what is right with the QB's. You have to back whoever gets their shot be it Tune, Meager, or Riley. Tune is improving every day so having four QB's is a great deal for UNT football. Plenty of depth that is for sure. Competition makes every player better. No one deserves this or deserves that. You earn your play in practice and in what you do on film. Film does not lie. You can bet every player is being graded very tough. Those not earning the grade are going to sit. I bet the entire staff is looking for leaders to step up on both sides of the ball. No one sees what happens in the lockeroom, the practice field, nor the film room. I'm for anyone that can win games but more importantly the desire to win games and play their ass off when things get tough. It will be interesting to see which players respond to adversity and which players will continue to play hard. Anyone can play hard when your winning and everyone is kissing your butt, but when the chips are down, WHO will respond? Which players and which coaches will respond to this adversity.
  6. Auburn wanted a lot of offense and wanted to have the dynamic spread that Franklin was credited for at Troy. That was a quick hook. I guess Tommy wants to go back to the power I and play action stuff and leave the finesse football behind.
  7. Good point. Our offense was blasted by the Troy defense. Physically beaten like a pulp. The speed and tenacity of the Troy defense is incredible. They play so much man to man and just flat out intimate WR's. Playing man just allows you to blitz and blitz often with success because they are rushing six and stunting like crazy. Troy man upped and just beat up FAU. Troy plays with an attitude and yes they have tremendous athletes.
  8. UNT has not been fortunate this season to get the turnovers that FAU is just handing Troy. Both teams are superior in overall talent but niether one is setting the world on fire. Very inconsistent play but the Defense has a lot to do with it. FAU and Smith look beatable tonight by most Sun Belt teams. FAU has gone backwords this season in overall play. Ugly game. Drops, fumbles, high snap, and lots of dropped balls. As I am posting, Smith is moving the team, finally. FAU will not score on three possesions. FAU will now have 2 conference losses. Field goal missed. Man it is a shame UNT didn't play FAU tonight.
  9. Coach Dodge is learning his way around the collegiate environment. He used to be able to out coach his opponents before and had superior talent ESPECIALLY on the line of scrimmage. That is whole lot of folks who didn't appreciate the boys in the trenches at SLC. Dodge underestimated the Belt and now will rectify problems as he goes. I believe he is a good coach but a very inexperienced coach in the grand scheme of things. Dodge was tad arrogant coming out of SLC but he will be a better coach from this in the long haul. Let's see what he can do.
  10. Dodge and company are learning on the fly, no excuses but they are rookies in college football. The are true sophomores and nothing more. I don't think their are discipline issues just standard collegiate behavior that is across America. MIP is like getting a moving vehicle violations these days, MIP's are a way of the times. MIP's do young people good and make them more responsible. But an MIP is hardly criminal or the whole damn North Texas student body would be guilty. MIP is not a reason to second guess a young person's character in college, give me a break.
  11. It all starts on the line of scrimmage, both sides of the ball. I bet 70% of the recruiting class will be lineman and LB's.
  12. The video left out Rick and that just isn't right. The most loyal fan should have been on the video, lid and all.
  13. http://www.star-telegram.com/college_sport...ory/943517.html
  14. I would think the open field tackling drills were heated and intense today. Deloach doesn't jack around. I saw him one practice and he is one passionate man.
  15. Conference is crazy and now wide open. New uniforms are beautiful. Bring back the green helmet and lets roll.
  16. Cook sure looked good on TV that is for sure. Maybe he can catch some punts since North Texas fair catches EVERY punt. They have no return game last season or this season. Dodge fair catches every punt by design.
  17. I sure hope your dead wrong. This team cannot afford to lose anyone. I heard about Miller but no one has said anything about losing players, you have to be kidding. Losing anymore for any reason is not what this program needs. No offense NTEX1990, but I sure hope you heard wrong.
  18. It sure would be nice to have interviews with Deloach. He is an experienced college coach and should be media savvy. Why doesn't he give interviews? I know Mendoza hid behind the ropes but what about Deloach? Big programs have their Coordinators available, why not here in Denton?
  19. now it's a ball game. 10 - 7 FAU ahead and looking to score with less than 5 minutes in the game.
  20. JQ is no where to be found on this team, at least not now. You knew JQ was going to be special the first time you watched him warm up in practice catching balls. I believed that Jamel Jackson would be that guy, and he still might be once he gets back from his injury. Jamel brings tremendous speed and he is fearless. I kind wonder where he would be starting on the outside if he was healthy.
  21. Awesome uniforms. I like the hell outta them. Both teams have some damn good athletes on the field. A lot of speed and ripped (muscle wise) players getting after it. I believe UNT will play a closer game with FAU than MTSU. The spread of the MUTS might give Deloach and defense fits. MTSU cannot make any big plays on FAU. Rusty Smith is vulnerable to throwing picks if pressured. He throws off this back foot a lot and he has no foot speed. He sure reminds me of Bledsoe.
  22. The state of Texas is loaded with players who never get an offer who could contribute at UNT and many other programs. The key is how to find such players. There are many kids who play out of position at the high school level that no one knows. Recruiting is an art but it is also a lot of luck for programs in the Belt, the MAC, and the WAC, even Conference USA. When a kid looks at Fouts, that is a tough sell, I don't care if your DD or TD or Mack Brown.
