  1. The Fouts dash is a shame. I second guess A&M all the time but one thing you never second guess is their student pride and spirit. Those kids never boo out loud and rarely leave the stadium regardless. UNT can learn from that.
  2. Those ( the fumble recovery and the fumbled kick off return) would have helped the cause but so would have the drops that were two sure touchdowns. It would have made the game way more competitive.
  3. Also what was exciting to me was how many reps so many players got on defense. We played a lot of players who have not seen a lot of action. We tried to keep our DL and LB's fresh and saw some good things from some young inexperienced college players. To me, young is a sophomore or freshman. I would be shocked to know how many sophomores and freshman played significant minutes. This team is making strides. We didn't make some plays on either side of the ball that we will in the next few games. I really expect the defense to get better against Tulsa and I think the offense is going to click both on the ground and threw the air. I like what Dodge is trying to do on offense. I liked the composure of the offense (even though they didn't make some plays). This offense is going to be a good one. You could see last night some positives for sure. K-state is the same team that held UT to 217 yards passing (on almost twice as many throwing attempts and had 4 interceptions against the Longhorns. They also limited Texas to 117 yards on the ground. AND THE GAME WAS IN AUSTIN. Chill. You could tell their was no panic in Deloach or Dodge and their leadership is being shown in their players.
  4. Were you at the game Houston? If not, let me tell you about the offense, it just didn't click as a unit. Dodge ran some 3 receiver sets and even some two back sets. We are trying to get some ground game and we are also getting extra blocking protection. The QB had at least 4 first down throws flat out dropped which would have kept drives alive. It just never seemed to come together. Actually, the offense looked like it could make plays against a good football team. We were a sack, a drop, and a throw away from making it at least respectable. DeLoach defense is going to get better, your right there. But the offense is going to get it going as well. You could sense the offense was just off here or there a little bit. Sometimes it was just plain damn good defense and you have to tip your cap. I don't panic because you could tell the defense and offense never paniced. No turnovers, no bad decisions, no bad busted coverages, the defense was trying to pressure, they gambled on defense with a young team. This ship will sail next week and expect a damn good game.
  5. All those questioning TD should just sit down and chill. I went last minute and I am glad I saw what I saw. K-State had horses on the line of scrimmage we just couldn't handle, be it Mendoza or DeLoach. Defensively, the TE hurt us. Freeman had some pressure where he had to get out of the pocket maybe once and we were bringing blitzes like crazy. The heat from the blitz schemes l liked but K-state just did a tremendous job picking us apart through the air. We had a true freshman that started in the secondary and they went right at him. When corners have a lot of tackles, what does that tell you? LB's played fairly well but they ran it down our throats which made the play action and passes to the TE so successful. Not sure we put a helmet on Freeman and he was playing pitch and catch. They scored if memory serves me correctly, on some very successful long drives. K-state had one short field, on the opening punt return. Mendoza would have been cruixified so thank goodness their is none of that this year. Deloach D is going to be good. That is what I take out of this game. The Defense couldn't stop their first team at all, BUT they made some impressive plays and were just more physical with their size. Kickoff return and kickoff coverage, same song different verse. We missed my adopted player (Jackson) on KO returns because he runs fearless and full speed everytime to touches the ball. We had several punts just missed from being blocked and now we are missing our deep snapper. UNT is in a injury funk. Offense ran the ball some which I take as a positive. The running game was successful on first downs when they were bringing heat and the score was out of hand. The defense pinned back their ears and put pressure on us whenever they wanted too. They really didn't blitz the first half but covered our WR's like glue. Our WR coach has to teach Roberson how to run routes like the other three starters. If you watch him closely, he can't touch Dibrell or Casey in his ability to run precision routes. OL did a nice job and was a improvement. QB made better decisions but had a few high throws but in all fairness had at least 4 sure drops for first downs. The entire offense just never got in sync. K-state had very good DB play, they tackled extremely well after the catch. I think TD has to run the ball for us to be successful and he made it a point to do so. I give him credit for the run and for the running formations to keep our opponents honest.
  6. Troy seems to be making the plays based on the radio commentators. Down to three minutes and Troy has the ball 1st down in MTSU territory.
  7. thank you. Troy just reloads it seems. They get LSU next week. spoke too soon. MT coming back.
  8. Harry, Do you know someone with the media staff over at the university that can tell us whether the Premium programming has been upgraded? After all, Broadcasting is a huge deal at UNT.
  9. Does the Premium upgrade allow you to get the K-State game on line streaming?? Thanks in advance. Can't make the game but thought about joining the premium if can be seen on line.
  10. Thanks for the update Calvin. I appreciate any and all who can shed some light on practices. It would be nice if whoever makes it to one to give an update. It is always appreciated.
  11. Freshman DB's are getting all the "play" because they are so darn athletic. They will make their share of mistakes but boy will they be good in another season or two.
  12. Great football family. Jeremy will red shirt and likely move to LB or DE because of his long arms and his body size. Expect him to add 20 to 25 lbs. by this time next season.
  13. "The defensive play of the day was made by third-string cornerback Justin Flowers, who returned an interception for a touchdown. That's not a good sign for UNT defensively, if you ask me."--- (Brett Vito) That INT. was on a out route that was thrown to a spot by Nathan Tune but the WR turned in instead of out. 3 rd. team WR ran the wrong route. That was clear by the yelling. That was a big play but our defense is still trying to come together (first and second team). Lot of playing time will be determined the rest of this week and in the scrimmage. I see some freshman DB's stepping in to get their feet wet early. They might get burned early on in the season but should they will be ready for the conference. Don't expect miracles from Coach DeLoach.
  14. Casey is a flat out inspiration to all of us who feel like the door is closed or just slightly open (in real life). This man never gave up hope or his dream. Casey is just a special human being. He worked out all summer long with a handful of WR's and GV. He is a team leader and a role model for all those who follow him.
  15. Meager is a good kid with a good shoulder on his head. He will contribute on the field and is very valuable to this program.
  16. Celina has 8 and won 64 straight games if I'm not mistaken.
  17. I bet Greg was a good student at UNT. He definitely was in high school.
  18. This kid is a football player, not just a QB.
  19. If you really want to watch practice, you can watch.
  20. Offense way ahead of schedule. You could tell who put in some major league time this summer. Several drops by WR's people are raving about. The steady group of Stickler, Casey, Dibrell, and both Breece and Rod looked the part. Rucker is fairly polished for a young receiver. Rucker played in the slot tonight. OL is going to be very competitive and interesting to see who comes out on top. Let's face, Juco's are brought in to play, but will they be able to pick up the system and be comfortable in a two point stance. Major league competition in the secondary. Very good opening practice. Pads on Friday is a can't miss.
