I think it might be possible that our roster, with CJ and J Will back plus the additions of Coleman, Hardwick, and TJ Taylor (as long as he's eligible), might be the best in the conference even if we didn't have Tony Mitchell. TM will take us that much farther but I think we have surrounded him with the best roster this conference has to offer.

Does anyone know how much a GA will cost at Roberston? I just found out we are going to Houston for a club baseball tourney so I will be going to the game.

I understand, but if they have done any research on our team they would know that our record last year does not reflect how good we are going to be this year. I'm not expecting a win this game, but with this roster we should be able to at least keep it close. Some are predicting scoring 100 on us, Tony Mitchell in particular would never let that happen. I really want to shock some people and shut these fans up.

They are overlooking us so much, it's pretty ridiculous. On the ESPN.com conversation for this game they are talking mad trash. McDermott is a really good player and all, but they think he is the second-coming of Larry Bird or something and they're showing no respect for us. Not even Tony Mitchell. I really want to blow them out on their home court, preferably in front of a national audience.

Called Texas Southern Division II. Anytime someone doesn't know the difference between FCS (D-1AA) and Division II they lose credibility in my eyes.

I don't know who their left tackle was last year but he was pushing AK47 all night. Brandon was relentless and got by a few times but I doubt he graded out very well that game from what I saw.

I absolutely agree. He has all the tools, he just has to produce consistently. We need a reliable third option, especially if TJ Taylor is ruled out for part or all of the season. Either way we are loaded.

And I wouldn't say your heading to an AQ conference. You'll have to do more than just win the Big East to play in a BCS bowl. As for support of TWU vs UNT, there is no comparison and if you've spent any significant time in Denton you'd know that. Not that we don't support TWU, it's just not comparable to UNT.

We'll have to wait and find out. I don't know if you've seen our defense play but they are pretty stout this year, especially in the secondary. We have a rs frosh cornerback Zac Whitfield who is a converted running back and has been burned a few times but has also made some spectacular plays that few could make. Other than those few times our secondary has at least kept everything in front of them, so this should make for a good matchup. Also, I like Dewayne Peace as a receiver and I played against Andrew Rodriguez a few times in high school and thought he'd work out well in Houston. I saw he had about 80 yards the first game but nothing since. Did he get hurt or did he just get passed on the depth chart?

My optimistic prediction: UNT - 27 Houston - 23 My realistic prediction: UNT - 17 Houston - 31 Piland will have more yards than DT, but luckily DT should get plenty of help from Jim Jim & Co. One thing people should realize after they're temporarily done squabbling is UNT has a great advantage in this game, and that our propensity to win the turnover battle. We have a secondary very capable of making plays so if we can get a decent pass rush look for multiple picks. If the O can keep the ball off the turf and DT can keep from trying to do too much we will have a good shot come the fourth quarter. Also we need special teams to step up. If this game is not close in the fourth quarter in either team's favor it will be a surprise.

Second Lineup we could bring off the bench/I would have as my bench: PG - PJ Hardwick (highly rated recruit, former Miss. St. commit who also had a Texas A&M offer) SG - TJ Taylor (former rivals top 100 player in the nation and Junior college All-American coming off the bench for us) SF - Franklin (Former rivals top 100 player in the nation, started for us last year at the 4. I'd like to see him play more at the 3 because he is 6'5". This guy really wants it this year and as a result has slimmed down to be able to play outside. He will see the court) PF - Justin Patton (Versatile player, 6'7" with good rebounding ability. Has lead a D-1 team in scoring/rebounding. Could present matchup problems) C - Jacob Holmen/Niko (I want to see if Holmen could play the 5 in a pinch for us since he is 6'8". Started for us last year and made the All-Tournament team in Hot Springs. He could create matchup problems and is a decent rebounder, would need to hold his ground down low. As for Niko, he can actually be a valuable asset this year. He is 6'9" and I thought he played great defense on Dendy last year in the MTSU game. He's not gonna score 20 a game, or even 5, but he could help on defense if Tony and/or Coleman are in foul trouble.) Our 5 off the bench last year in Hot Springs: PG - Norris SG - Hall SF - Didn't really have, just used three guards when Holmen was out of the game. PF - Alonzo Edwards/Niko C - Kedrick Hogans not 100 percent No knock on last year's guy, but depth can and will make a difference this year.

My one slight disagreement is SF, but this is a matter of personal opinion so to each his own. Patton is a great addition, but Jordan Williams has looked better from watching them play at the rec a few times. J Will could be special this year. I like Patton playing more PF because of his undeniable rebounding ability. This way he can spell TM for a bit or move Tony to the 5 when Coleman goes out. I like everything else you said man, and I think there is a good chance Taylor starts over Alzee at some point, but an even better chance he finishes the game at the 2 in crunch time for us. I personally like him as a 6th man, scoring combo guard that can come off the bench and light things up a la Jason Terry. Someone said on here that it is NOT a matter of NCAA eligibility issues due to his LOI, so it makes me wonder what then. Apparently on his twitter he made it seem like he may not be able to play this year. We will be fine without him in conference play but I think he will help the most when we start playing the big boys in March. Looking at how MTSU steamrolled through the regular season last year I can't help but think we should do the same, if not better. A lot of good players in the conference are gone, including Denver who might have been the best returning team besides us, and we have everyone back plus some huge additions. Our roster has more size, speed, athleticism, depth, and quite frankly talent than last year's MTSU squad so it's just a matter of if we can jell the way they did.

No you're right, but on the same token if a coach tells a player that he must play at a certain level to maintain the scholarship, that is a little more fair. I'd rather wait until the player produces the way you want before you offer but that may not be Benford's style.

Man I really hope Taylor can play though. He's a player who could potentially win us a few games with offensive explosions off the bench. If it's not an NCAA issue, then an academic issue could be solved after one semester I would hope. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see. At least we have options.

We might be for now. I think what's more likely is if Friar or Casimiro don't pan out you could maybe see Benford take away those offers in favor of the better recruit. Casimiro has sold no UNT fans on his scholarship so if he doesn't produce this year it's possible as many bigs as we have committed. As Harry has stated, the best possible scenario to happen for us is for Tony Mitchell to have a great year, lead us to our best year in school history, declare for the 2013 draft, and get selected early.

This excites me greatly.
