  1. I think our offense would've prevented a lot of the fast breaks that BYU had. Also, do we have Jordan Williams, Chris Jones, and Tony Mitchell all eligible for this game? I think lose by 10 is likely.
  2. Amazing! I thought he was in a deep hole! Way to go Mean Green! Way to go Brandin!
  3. I agree. It will be tough, but I think we have a very good chance to reload. With home games against Nicholls State, UAB, Southern Miss, La Tech, SMU, and an east division opponent, we have a very good chance of getting 4, very reasonably 5 wins at home. I feel like we have a very good shot of getting 6 wins again next year, hopefully more. Whatever happens next year, we should be very grateful for what we accomplished this year.
  4. Take out the Georgia loss (the one no one complains that we lost) and we only gave up 24 points/game in our losses. Only 17 points a game when you take out the 2 pick sixes and the blocked field goal returned for a TD. Stat manipulation is fun, huh? Defense has spoiled us.
  5. Our defense has spoiled the heck out of us. All of that and they still only gave up 21 points. I disagree with you a lot about DT, but I like you as a poster TFLF. I like how you say we shouldn't seem so spoiled, complaining after our first winning season in 9 years. I don't like this complaint about our defense having a "bad" game when in reality giving up only 21 points a game puts you top 25 in the country for scoring defense. They've spoiled us big time.
  6. Talked to some players today. They want HoD 1st, then Armed Forces is their preference.
  7. Yes. I think we'll redshirt at most one of the two slots next year (Adams or Davis) and one of the two outside guys (Goree or Rutherford). I just can't see Goree redshirting, or Davis for that matter. Rutherford could use the redshirt the most. Him adding weight would actually matter more given his 6'5" frame. He could also benefit from working on his route running.
  8. As much as I agree with you, and I know you're just venting, but we can't be having this conversation again.
  9. Got it. Thanks for the clarification 90. Well, he qualifies in my book. He's part of the signing class and I think he could really help out so heck yeah.
  10. I agree with your philosophy, but receiver is not as much a position where they need to redshirt to get ready physically. Not to say the physicality between cornerbacks and receivers is not a huge step up from high school, but it's nothing compared to the increase in physicality along the line of scrimmage. Carlos Harris was not very big, but he was fast and could make plays so he played as a freshman. Same with Darvin Kidsy this year. You don't have to be physically imposing to play as a true freshman if you're a skill player. Not to mention, we only return 6 scholarship receivers, only 2 of which have seen significant snaps this year.
  11. You're completely right. I feel like we get outrebounded in 80% or more of our games and that will just continue to happen.
  12. Great post. I think at least Goree and Davis will be ready to go from day 1. Also, Marcus Smith is so close to being that guy for us. He's come along really well.
  13. DJ Williams, defensive tackle from Lufkin, has ruled is out. He is now down to just Kansas and Missouri. Still plenty of good DTs left on the board.
  14. Goree was bumped up to a 3-star on rivals. Is now a 3-star on rivals, scout, and 247. Waiting on you ESPN!
  15. Not necessarily. We haven't really used anyone outside of our starting three (Harris, D Smith, Chancellor) very much. Our number 4 guy is Kidsy and after him we really haven't utilized anyone else very much. Glad we redshirted smiley. Not expecting him to come in and be our leading receiver next year, but he should provide nice depth at least.
  16. Big time playoff games this week. Once you get to the 4th round of the playoffs you're playing a team with a legitimate shot at the state title. There are two teams left that have players committed to the mean green for our 2014 class still left in the playoffs. DeSoto vs. Euless Trinity, 4pm (game time subject to change due to weather) Saturday December 7th, Allen, TX DeSoto, who features Shaquel Jackson (d-tackle commit for us) and Johnavohn Graham (d-end commit for us, currently injured), defeated Trinity 61-35 earlier in the year. 2 perennial metroplex and state powers going toe-to-toe. This game features 8 seniors currently committed to D1 schools. Carthage vs. West Orange-Stark, 7:30 pm Friday December 6th, Beaumont, Texas Carthage, featuring two UNT commits at receiver (Tee Goree and O'Keeron Rutherford) take on a very good West Orange-Stark team who squeaked by last round. This game features 7 current D1 commits.
  17. Lol. I know he's old school, but I hope he reconsiders once he sees all that talent. Especially coupled with the current freshman, Kidsy and Smiley, and anyone we bring in next year.
  18. This is not a thread bashing Chico or the offense. Our recruiting class and their talents got me thinking. I thought the 5-wide set looked good earlier in the year and I'd like to see it in the bowl game. Also, with bringing in guys like Jalen Adams, Willy Ivery, Fonzale Davis, O'Keeron Rutherford, and Tee Goree I can't help but picture them all out on the field creating matchup nightmares. I know, none of them have signed yet, but it would be fun to watch. Will we see it in the bowl game? In upcoming years with our potential depth at receiver?
  19. You think so? I really don't know what it would take. Or it could be a situation where he fired a coordinator as a sacrificial lamb, like the BYU game this year. I'm sure if we beat them everyone would be calling for it.
