  1. Oregon State may soon have an answer as to where it is headed in conference alignment. Athletic director Scott Barnes told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Wednesday that Oregon State is committed to rebuilding the Pac-12, starting with the remaining four schools of Washington State, Stanford, California and OSU. Those four schools were left out on Aug. 4 when five Pac-12 schools accepted invitations to join the Big Ten and Big 12 beginning with the 2024-25 school year. That followed Colorado’s departure for the Big 12 the previous week, and USC and UCLA’s announcement last year that they would leave the Pac-12 at the end of the 2023-24 school year Read more: https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2023/08/oregon-state-may-be-days-from-a-decision-on-start-of-a-rebuilt-pac-12.html?outputType=amp
  2. The only AAU’s in Texas are Texas, Texas A&M and Rice. I have no idea if we could ever get in but I suppose it is a big deal that USF did.

  4. BREAKING: Pacific American deal may be done in principal. Hard ball dealings at end. American will dissolve to pay NO exit fees, and 11 AAC teams will receive invites to the PAC. UNT, UAB, UTSA, Rice and FAU will receive lower shares to pay for SDSU, CSU & Boise for a 2025 start.

  7. Michael Kelly said American Athletic Conference members have held several meetings with commissioner Mike Aresco over the past week. TAMPA — American Athletic Conference members have spoken about the possibility of adding schools left behind during the most recent round of conference realignment. USF athletic director Michael Kelly said Friday that he and administrators from other conference schools have been in communication with AAC commissioner Mike Aresco after six Pac-12 schools announced their departures for other conferences in recent weeks. The remaining Pac-12 members — Washington State, Oregon State, Cal and Stanford — would be considered among the best schools left behind by this round of realignment. ESPN’s Heather Dinich first reported last week that the AAC was open to adding a combination of all four schools from the Pac-12. read more: https://www.tampabay.com/sports/bulls/2023/08/11/michael-kelly-aac-conference-realignment-pac-12-cal-stanford-mike-aresco/?outputType=amp
  8. Theoretically they won’t be kicking anyone out. They will form a new conference. So we will still be in the AAC but will have to backfill the teams that leave with CUSS and the Belch. Yuk!
  9. You talking about Jaylin? I thought he was primarily special teams. https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/jaylen-smith/5986
  10. That guy is on the dole with SMUt. No wat TCU and Baylor and Tech will EVER let SMUt in now.
  11. So why are we limiting ourself to the Pac4? I have been saying all along we should go after the cream of the Mountain West schools as well. This reporter seems to agree there is some value there.
  12. Hey that had the new Jock! I want the old one.
  13. TV Contract Money/Exposure This category will not be changing at this point, but it’s still an important one because money accounts for a lot. The current AAC contract (almost $7 million per team) became the benchmark for Group of 5 media deals when they announced their new deal a year before the Mountain West. However, the contract will likely change once Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF leave. The Mountain West media deal is $270 million total, which comes out to about $4 million for the ten teams under normal circumstances (not Hawaii or Boise State), a massive upgrade from the $1.1 million in the past deal. However, more goes into the contract than just money, even though money is the bottom line, as this article explains a bit. The AAC took more money ($1 billion) for less exposure (most appearing on ESPN+). On the other hand, the MWC secured a smaller deal financially and traded being the late game on ESPN for potentially better time slots with Fox, as well as sticking with CBS Sports for their secondary game package. Another big difference is the length of the contract. The American is locked in for 12 years, while the Mountain West decided to go for a short-term deal (6 years), citing the ever-changing media landscape, and opted for flexibility in light of that. read more: https://www.mwcconnection.com/2023/8/2/23761671/mountain-west-american-athletic-conference-2022-football-season-comparison
  14. All I am saying is that we should get a full share equal to what OState and WSU get. Stanford is a different animal.
  15. So why does fing ESPN get to decide all this crap? They seem to be broke and laying off long time employees. Who gives them the right to screw up everything? I hate ESPN!
