  1. I'm paraphrasing here but he said something to the effect of "North Texas was the biggest college game in Texas this week" and gave us a pretty good plug.
  2. I cheered for 5 years, try running the flags 26 times times in polyester (the Navy game 4 years ago)
  3. It says in big bold print on the ticket "MUST SHOW STUDENT ID" and they scanned both my ID and my ticket when I got it so I assume they are matching ID's to ticket bar codes to prevent this.
  4. ESPN3 is free on any college campus, included in Xbox Live, as well as included with Charter internet. Therefore your options are: go up to the community college and hack their wifi password, walk around the neighbor hood until you find someone with Charter and an unsecured router, or call your nerdiest gamer friend to borrow their Xbox.
  5. BTW, my grandmother was a freshman in 51' so I bet she would be a candidate.
  6. But why do they ask to RSVP if its 100% sure?? I want to go but I am far too lazy to write an Email.
  7. Every year I convince myself that we could be 8-4 in the regular season. 2 conference losses and 2 Non-conference losses. Non-conference will obviously be BAMA and flip a coin on the other (probably Tulsa, just to keep up with tradition) Conference losses to FIU and....... WKU. That's right I'm calling it. Save this thread. This year our only guaranteed win will not happen. Quote me Brett.
  8. From the UNT Cheerleaders, I know I've already thanked Kram and all the participants for helping make the GMG.com tournament a success, but I just wanted to give an extra large thank you to both the men's and women's basketball teams for their part in the game. I know this is their post season recovery time, and it meant a lot to us to see them out on a saturday. Also, after the game, we were presented with a cash donation from the Women's team. BTW: I saw the nearly all the women's team in the rec this morning running plays and what not. Good luck to these ladies in the future.
  9. Normally, I agree with everything Eppy says, but in this threat i disagree with everything he is saying. IMO the only people who want "goliath" to win either went to a "goliath" school or they are the guys who use the "I hate college basketball because it's an amateur sport" argument. I think that everyone else that went to an non-Major school is pulling for VCU and then Butler. I also think college basketball allows for these situations simply because it's a tournament format in which late survival depends more on momentum and stamina. In my experiences, when you get up against the wall (like Kansas was) you begin to forget technique and play instinctively and sporatically, thus forgetting the technique that got you to the top spot.
  10. Hey everybody, I just wanted to thank everybody that helped make the event a great success, Especially Kram. In my time on the cheer team this is the first time anyone has done anything like this and it was amazing and fun. Though I am graduating soon, I will definitely be back next year. Thanks Kram, Thanks MG Nation, thanks GMG.com
  11. Yep that's the one, thanks for the support. See you there.
  12. Yes "I" will be there. And I am saying this without a rude tone. As co-captain of the cheer team I plan on attending. Also, I claim credit for two sponsors as one is my place of employment and one is my dad's business.
  13. I thought we had "celebrity" refs... if they call it like the ones they've worked with (sunbelt) then there will be quite a bit of arguing.
  14. BTW, I didn't see the game on tv (because I was there) but from what I hear the commenetators were talking about the shoddy refs too; not in replays but watching the game live. That tells me something is up with the refs.
  15. Disclaimer: I hate blaming the refs, If you play the game right the refs won't have an opportunity to screw you. However, there is a difference in no-calls and fictional calls. we were victim of both. Being a cheerleader, I have sat baseline under the basket for the last five season. In all those games I would see about 0 to 2 missed calls every game, nothing really crucial or blatant, just little things that happened where I had a better angle or the ref was watching something else. In all 4 games we played this weekend that number jumped to about 5 to 10 per game. At one point in the second half of the final, I sat and counted on my finger for the ref to see, three missed calls on the three shots on in about 6 seconds total. The least blatant, but still a no call, was of course the illegal screen that cut our lead to 1. There were also several UALR slanted calls in their semi-final game against MTSU. Either the Sun Belt has a pro-UALR/anti-UNT conspiracy or the Sun Belt need to hire major-conference refs for the tourney. GMG.
  16. I agree with Matt, I didn't see the ASU band play, but interacting with other bands in the holdings areas showed me that we have one of the few bands that actually has knowledge of basketball.
  17. I absolutely love the the basketball band... those guys are hilarious; they have that special kind of funny that only a person with an IQ over 120 would get. The students love them and they have plenty of modern songs in the repertoire mixed in with the old school chants and rally songs. Plus they are actually good at playing them. Most importantly they know about basketball and are actual basketball fans. If anyone went to the tourney and saw some of the other pep-bands you would know for a fact that we have the best and most passionate band in the belt. GMG. Go Funky Fresh Balls Band.
  18. The Austin Hotel is quite skanky but it is the team hotel and it is cheap as well as connected to the convention center
  19. Yeah, it is technically at Lucky's, but the band, cheerleaders, dancers, and players will be at the hotel.
  20. What?? The DMN recognizes that there is a D1 University 20 miles away with 35,000 students and give us some pub. STOP THE PRESSES... oh wait
  21. I have witnessed the previous two Sun Belt Championships so far, and I plan on seeing the third tomorrow night. In 07' I was a freshman cheerleader and now in 11' I am a senior. I did not go to the tournament in 08' or 09', therefore the team is 10-0 in the SBC tourney when I am in the building. See y'all tomorrow night... GMG PS If you are in Hot Springs, the post-game celebration is on the 2nd floor of the Austin Hotel
  22. A quote form a MTSU player in the hotel elevator: "I wouldn't want to play at North Texas but I would love to be fan there. You people are crazy."
  23. So here's the deal Hopeful, I am a cheerleader and I cheered at the game you came too. First our band is top notch both musically and creatively, not to mention intelligent. I know of no other bands that knows as much about basketball and sports in general. Second I don't know your personal athletic ability but I would like to see you out there on a hard wood floor doing back handsprings and flips then trowing girls anywhere from 110-130 lbs. in the air. If you were so disgusted by our arena, why didn't you leave??
