  1. Sounds like a very hefty lawsuit should something happen to any of the residents. Most of the time the security gate is one of the guaranteed imminities (either spelled out or implied) in the lease agreement.
  2. I'm sorry maybe I misread what you typed. You meant in the North Texas offense, right?
  3. If there isn't some spin on this saying that the backpack wasn't his then we'll beat UT in Austin this fall. That's how likely it is that a UT player gets charged for something that every Joe Blow citizen would get hammered for. Oh yeah, and the "We fully support Ramonce and will conduct our own internal investigation (which will lead to nothing)" statement from either Deloss Dodds or Mack Brown should be forthcoming any day now.
  4. Big 10 - Wisconsin...always wanted to go there for the "5th quarter" Big XII - Tech Big East - Pittsburgh ACC - Va Tech SEC - Florida PAC 10 - Oregon WAC - La Tech CUSA - SMU MWC - TCU MAC - Buffalo Indy - Notre Dame
  5. Did this guy sign with us or are we awaiting a decision?
  6. Here's the rundown: The girls- hot The school- awesome The Dentonites- Clueless That about sums it up.

  8. Kiss heavy student attendance at games goodbye. NT will be a ghost town on the weekends.
  9. Honestly, I'd remove either Josh Wolff or Eddie Johnson. I think Twellman may be a better talent than Wolff and Johnson, for all of his speed and finishing ability, isn't the type of forward to "manufacture" his own goals. He's amazing on the end of somebody else's throughball or cross but I don't think he gets back and challenges to win his own possessions.
  10. I know we often slam them but they marketing department is to be commended on this one. I guess Lee Jackson was nowhere near the athletic offices when they were brainstorming. Here's what it could have looked like: "Renew your season tickets and watch goons from New Jersey hit Jamario Thomas in the knees with a sledgehammer. Renew your Mean Green Club donation and you're invited to Ramon Flanigan's contract extension party. Increase your donation and receive 8 additional tickets to the 2007 home opener against Texas State...as a member of the Southland."
  11. So the Tennessee Titans draft Vince Young, one of the two best athletes in this draft, and the least NFL ready of the quarterbacks and they're thinking of letting Steve McNair go to the Ravens. Huh? Your other two quarterbacks on the roster are Matt Mauck and Billy Volek...yeah, I'm trying to remember them too. You're gonna turn the keys to the car over to a rookie...a rookie with a bad throwing motion, who spent all his time in shotgun, and who has never been required to make more than one read...and this is your gameplan? I sure hope Chris Brown and LenDale White run for A LOT of yards.
  12. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature?id=366677&cc=5901 I think it's a solid roster but I have one disagreement with it. Twellman as an alternate? I think he's proven that he can be a "danger man" and deserves a shot. Also, I think the U.S. wins its group. Yeah, I know the Czechs are in their group but nobody has seen a full U.S. roster play together in a while. It's been piece-meal for the last 10 or so friendlies. I think they'll put it together over the next month or so and make a good run.
  13. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This "running backs don't turn around teams" argument is a flawed one until you can answer two very important things. 1)How is LT a valid example of a defensive player "turning around" a team? Unless you pretend that Pepper Johnson and the other pro-bowlers on that defense didn't make it easier for LT to be LT then you can't make this assertion. Was LT a monster and probably the best to ever play his position? Probably. Would he have been that same playing with the Tampa Bay Bucs back then? Uhhhh, no...he would have been the dominant guy on a losing team. It's EXACTLY like the argument you make about how running backs can't be game changers without a supporting cast around them. So I'll ask again, where is the Pepper Johnson on the Houston Texans roster? Where is the rest of a solid defense? 2)What is a running backs job? Isn't it to take the ball and make yards? I'm pretty sure Bo Jackson, Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams, et al did exactly that. And Reggie Bush will do the same. To say that Bush wasn't the right pick because they wouldn't have been instantly better is absurd. Was Warren Moon a bad pick? No super bowl rings. Was Dan Marino a bad pick? No rings either. How bout Jerry Rice? I'm pretty sure Joe Montana and Roger Craig helped. No one player can make/break a whole offense or defense, but here is the only important question to ponder. If they had drafted Reggie Bush would they have drafted THE BEST PLAYER THEY AVAILABLE TO THEM AND THE BEST PLAYER AT HIS POSITION? Yes resoundingly on both counts.
  14. Almost true. Who is the Pepper Johnson on the Texans roster? The Leonard Marshall? The Carl Banks? LT was not a one-man defense. In addition can you tell me that there is a QB on the Texans roster who knows how to win like Phil Simms? Is Davis the kind of back that Otis Anderson was? Where is the tight end like Mark Navarro? My point is that Mario Williams is a great player but he won't significantly upgrade that team.
  15. I would agree with all of you were it not for two things: 1)In the 3-4 alignment that Williams played in both of the other guys on that D-line will be NFL players this upcoming draft as well. It was a pick your poison scenario...though there's no doubt that Mario was the focal point of the defensive attack. 2)Mario Williams and who else should scare you on that Texans defense? When I say he doesn't immediately upgrade that defense I mean who else is there to help him? If I'm an OC facing the Texans why don't I just double team Mario Williams? Who makes me pay? Reggie Bush, on the other hand, if you don't respect him he'll burn you. If you show too much respect Carr has room to throw to Andre Johnson and Jabar Gaffney (Gaffney is still there, right?). I just think many people are discounting just how good Reggie Bush is. In my opinion he's a once in a generation back.
  16. Not taking Reggie Bush when they had the chance, contract negotiation slow downs or no, was a dramatic mistake. Mario Williams is not going to make that defense significantly better, Reggie Bush could have done that for the offense. Bush was the most capable "impact" player in this draft and now I think he'll end up with the Jets after they trade with New Orleans for the #2 pick. N.O. has Deuce and doesn't need Reggie, but they do need the picks that the Jets could package.
  17. I expect them to take a linebacker...unless Jay Cutler falls that far, then they'll sprint with the selection card up to the podium.
  18. This whole "there are just too many bowls" argument is a double edged sword. Most who make this argument are fans of BCS schools and see all of these extra bowls as allowing "mid-major" schools with records inflated by feasting on eachother to play in the post-season. In some cases they are absolutely correct. What they fail to realize, or won't admit, is that they keep certifying new bowls because teams at the wrong end of the BCS leagues' standings still want to play in December. It's not a 6-5 North Texas that's the issue, it's a 6-6 Arkansas, Missouri, or Washington who include 1-2 wins against their league and 4-5 against SBC or WAC schools in their resume. BCS schools use wins against the little guys just as much as we do...it's just conveniently left out of the discussion when they complain.
  19. Actually, contrary to popular pessimism, the win over SMU is huge. It proves, both to our girls and SMU's, that last year's regular season win was no fluke. It wasn't a case of "SMU had a down day and proved it in the tourney." We've now beaten them twice in the span of two seasons. If these two teams should face off again this year we'll have the confidence to face them head on and they'll have a warranted respect for what we can do. Soccer isn't like other sports where the only thing that matters is post-season play. It is recognized that the best sides sometimes don't win it all. Look at the U.S. National team for instance. Not a single world cup championship in our history but we're #4 in the world, ahead of several teams that do have world cup wins.
  20. "If all of this turns out to be true, I hope that Bush is ineligible for the draft for two years and the agent is disbarred for life." Based on what authority? The NFL (and its teams) is a professional business and has the right to employ whomever they see fit. They don't fall under the NCAA. This is just preposterous. The kid will be a millionaire next year, the number one pick, and rightfully so.
  21. Back on the subject of SMU's new coach Doherty, apparently Dallas ISD coaches are saying that SMU is not welcome in their gyms. Seems they're still upset about the firing of Tubbs who they saw as one of their black brethren.
  22. "My point of view on Vince is real simple," said the man known as "Mattress Mack." "I saw what he did against USC, and for me, it's kind of like the gospel at church last Sunday. When Thomas stuck his hand on Jesus' side, he believed. Well, I believe in Vince."\ Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  23. Even if it wasn't it's true. Every single word of it. We complain about things that fans at other schools wouldn't even begin to fathom.
  24. There is a poll on there today asking "which 2006 home game are you most excited about?" The SMU game, duh, is running away with it.
  25. I'm not that worried. I'll be camped out on the practice fields the night before.
