  1. I don't get it. I've been #1 with NT several times while playing in the Sun Belt. At the beginning of every season I look at the pre-season top 25 and schedule #1 and #3 as my first few games. Then I make sure to schedule #2 as my last game or close to last game of the season. One or maybe even two of these teams will usually have me as their only loss. I've never done it in year one but by the end of year three or so I'm on top of the heap.
  2. Ok, so he's #76 on CFN top 100 Heisman finalists but he's on there. 76. RB Jamario Thomas, North Texas – After Adrian Peterson, Thomas would be voted Most Likely to Eclipse the 2,000-Yard Barrier. He’s healthy again, has already won a national rushing title and capable of putting up ridiculous numbers against a schedule loaded with really bad defenses.
  3. Ok, I am hoping against hope that this is just vintage Quoner sarcasm.
  4. These world cup refs are beyond pitiful. Did anyone see the Netherlands v. Portugal match? A new record for red cards and total cards in a match? And then there's the cherry on top....Italy v. Australia. How in the hell do you award a PK in second half stoppage time, especially such a WEAK one? This tournament is quickly becoming less about the players and more about the officials. (Sound familiar to any Mavs fans? )
  5. You're telling me the U.S. defender Onyewu couldn't play any other sport? Hmmm
  6. This whole tournament has been an exhibition of diving and crying...and getting the calls! How in the hell have all of the PK's been awarded? The refs are catering to the forwards like nobody's business. What do I know though, I play defense.
  7. NBA, you have your new "superstar."
  8. I think we may be missing the most important point of all. Wilson may be our best option by necessity. Regardless of his grasp of the system, arm strength, etc he may the only guy athletic enough to run for his life and make something out of nothing. If our O-Line is sub par (a real possibility) you can have all the wide open receivers you want, the QB will be too busy trying to keep his head on his shoulders.
  9. Wouldn't this post carry a bit more weight if you actually had a "b" to follow your "a"? Have we never been taught how to properly do an outline? P.S. I know you actually had a "b" but it just makes a smiley face when you type it like that.
  10. First off, show me any "misinformation" that I've disseminated. Talons in the past 3-4 years has been outdone and outshone by average Joe students consistently. I have better things to do with my time than to lie about an organization that is a shadow of its former self. Second, Talons is a full-time job? Congratulations son, that means that you've just about BEGUN to feel what being a Talon should be like. Saying that Talons is a time consuming, exhaustive undertaking is not exactly trumpeting breaking news. It's nothing to brag or whine about. It's called dedication...something that Rick's, and my, generations knew about in spades. So you still do campus cleanup and go to a lot of events. How very cutting edge of you. Here's an idea for the current Talons...and I'll put it in bold for the reading impaired...find something that is hindering campus wide pride and progress and do something NEW about it. Seriously, when was the last time anyone looked at Talons and said "what a fresh and new idea, I'm glad they're on the job"? The day that Talons again does the dirty work for the betterment of the university and not to thump their chests again will be the day I fall silent in my criticism. And, most importantly, as to my "being the guy that doesn't vote and complains" how exactly do you propose I go about rectifying the situation. Talons alum (in a move that is unfathomable) can't even vote in Talons meetings. This is a courtesy and sign of respect that NO TALON that I came up with or spoke with from years past would have dared take away. It seems that the extent of interaction between the old and new guard lately has consisted of "thanks for fixing the model-A and giving us a bell...now go away." Kids sure do love their toys. I would GLADLY come to meetings to offer insight, ideas, or just a little historical perspective. I'M OFF OF WORK EVERY SINGLE WEDNESDAY. I just won't hold my breath for the invitation...reaching out to those who have gone before you does in fact require that you be willing to accept criticism and observations. And does it not strike you or Bryan that people who aren't in and never were in Talons can see the glaring shortcomings? What vested interest or agenda could they possibly serve? I don't recall being taken to task when I was in school...were the detractors just that quiet or were they maybe too busy being made involved by a Talons organization that was consistently visible and active? Hmmm
  11. Could that be the sound of yet another program speeding past us that you are referring to?
  12. When you are taken to task concerning your shortcomings and have a bruised ego it's easy to see yourself being slighted wherever you turn.
  13. Got mine at Albertson's on Lemmon in Dallas. They pick us to win 5 games with losses to SMU, Tulsa, UT, and La Tech. Yuck.
  14. It surprises me that my #1 concern wasn't mentioned. Do we have a capable quarterback on this roster? Meager got most of the snaps last year and at no point did opposing defenses respect him to throw, even with our receiving corps. Phillips has a heck of an arm but has he seen enough of a "real time" defense to make the plays? And can he cut out the interceptions that I saw last year when things were forced? And what about my personal fave Woody Wilson? He's got the speed that I think will be needed early because he won't have much time back there, but can he make the plays with his arm? I think that if the QB question isn't answered the rest of them may be moot...we just plain won't score and J-Mo will get beat up.
  15. No, I fear that since Talons has taken on a new leadership and attitude at times in the past this tradition (which I started from the ground up) may have died.
  16. Don't underestimate Bruce Arena. The lineups you saw throughout the qualifiers and tuneup games were a hodge podge and probably not the true lineup you'll see in our first game. Also, I think we played a reserved style of attack...something that you will not see with Wolff, Donovan, McBride and especially Eddie Johnson on the pitch. They'll be all out and trying to run up the score on whomever we play.
  17. I'm going on record right now... The U.S. will finish first in their group.
  18. The sky is blue. Grass is green. Dating hot chicks is more fun than dating the anchor. "Boob" is a palyndrome. Darrell Dickey is 39-55 while at NT. All of these are facts. All of these are well known facts. Repeating any of these things doesn't make them newsworthy or shocking. I think that was eulesseagle's point.
  19. Please tell me, who on this board dropped the ball on that one? Or, was it a matter of us doing miles of legwork only to see the thing fall through within the AD?
  20. If what you're saying is that we couldn't do I'd relish to opportunity to prove you dead wrong. I know for a fact that there are a few on this board who have moved mountains when all of the naysayers said it couldn't be done.
  21. Yep, that's it except for you forgot the up,down,up,down at the beginning.
  22. It's no surprise to me. Texas wins national titles in football all the time.
  23. Pro Wrestling (can't touch starman) Wizards and Warriors Tecmo Super Bowl (man, you could jump 3 miles up to catch a ball) Rush n Attack Double Dragon Contra (I still know the 30 man code) Tiger Heli Spy Hunter (I still haven't finished that game)
