  1. I wouldn't waive royalties, DFW Airport just got their credit rating raised based strictly on drilling / number of rigs / future earnings. Based on some articles I found UNT already have wells operating and as of this article was bringing in close to 10k per month and that was back in 2003 see article ragarding economic impact drilling in area Is it safe to assume the revenue would go into a general revenue account and be undesignated?
  2. Rivals info on White John White Profile Also anyone remember Jackson from the Rowlett / Allen playoff game? He intercepted the first pass and returned it 49 yards to set up Rowletts first score/ upset of Allen. Wfaa story
  3. As much money as Chesapeake Energy is throwing around in the metroplex that might be a good fit, and they wouldn't even miss 25 mil. Also Interstate batteries has already been worked for quite some time and didn't fit into his donation criteria (mostly donates to church related projects)
  4. Congrats, I still remember mom and our little ones first game at Fouts against TCU in a baby carrier!!
  5. This came off the Sunbelt conference board after this mornings announcement. sunbelt announcement NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced Tuesday that it has singed agreements with the St. Petersburg Bowl, the Papajohns.com Bowl and the PetroSun Independence Bowl. The announcement came at the Sun Belt’s annual Football Media Days. The agreements, which are effective immediately and will impact the 2008 and 2009 bowl games, call for bowl-eligible teams from the Sun Belt Conference to be the first available teams in these bowls should the contracted parties not be able to fulfill their requirements. “This is an excellent opportunity for our football league for many reasons,” said Sun Belt Commissioner Wright Waters. “It will give our teams a chance to play in regional bowl games, show that we can compete with quality opponents and prove that this league can attract crowds to games and influence TV ratings.” While the Sun Belt Conferece champion will still play in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, the St. Petersburg Bowl or the Papajohns.com Bowl will have second choice to select one of the Sun Belt’s bowl-eligible teams if the contracted parties are not be able to fulfill their requirements. The St. Petersburg Bowl will play its inaugural game Dec. 20 at Tropicana Field and is scheduled to pit teams from the Big East and Conference USA. The 2008 Papajohns.com Bowl is scheduled to feature teams from the Big East and Southeastern Conference and will be played Dec. 29 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala. Both games are owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television, Inc., a subsidiary of ESPN. “This agreement protects the future success of our events, to which ESPN Regional Television is very committed,” said Pete Derzis, Senior Vice President & General Manager, ERT. “We are taking this step to be able to present college football fans with two quality teams for our postseason bowl games.” The agreement signed with the PetroSun Independence Bowl calls for that bowl game to receive the third choice to select one of the Sun Belt’s bowl eligible teams if the contracted parties are not able to fulfill their requirements. The Independence Bowl would also receive the second choice to select a Sun Belt bowl eligible team should the St. Petersburg Bowl or the Papajohns.com Bowl not have an opening. The game is scheduled to have a team from the Southeastern Conference and Big XII and will be played Dec. 28 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La. "We feel good about partnering with the Sun Belt Conference as a contingency partner for the 2008 and 2009 games,” said PetroSun Independence Bowl Chairman Keith Bergeron. “Our primary agreements with both the Big 12 and SEC run through the 2009 game and year-in and year-out provide us with a great matchup. Now with 34 bowl games and nearly all conferences going anywhere from four to nine deep with bowl partners we felt it was necessary and good business to lock in a contingency plan in the unlikely event that we don't host a team from either the Big 12 or SEC. The Sun Belt and its member institutions offer a natural regional tie with Shreveport being within driving distance for fans of any Sun Belt school." The agreements with the St. Petersburg Bowl, the Papajohns.com Bowl, and the PetroSun Independence Bowl are for two years, beginning with the 2008 bowl games. Should there be any ties in the Sun Belt standings, those three bowl games have the right to select the team of their choice. 6. This may be a dumb question but I looked and the only group with athletics had 43 members is that the one? Other than that i couldn't find a group on facebook for athletics.
  7. We'll be there as well to see my nephew play (for Rice) He's 6'5 now and expected to see playing time at DE. The real pisser was he really wanted to be part of UNT but the previous regime didn't think he was worthy. Link to bio Talk about disappointing, he has grown/bulked up since starting college and continues to get better!
  8. I'm getting my MBA from UT Dallas (since UNT doesn't have an eMBA program) but got this announcement today, if your curious what Bill's up to see memo below: Bill Mercer Author appearance at UTD Legendary broadcaster Bill Mercer will appear at UTD to discuss his new memoir of a remarkable 50-year sportscasting career from 4-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 in McDermott Library Auditorium (MC 2.410) He previously appeared in the McDermott Library-UTD Mercury Writers Series in 2005 to discuss a book about his role along with three of his colleagues in covering the John F. Kennedy Assassination in 1963. Mercer currently serves as the PA announcer at UTD Comet basketball games. His new book, "Play by Play," gives an insider's view particularly of sports and the ins and outs of calling play-by-play and interviewing celebrity athletes. His career includes play-by-play duties for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago White Sox and the North Texas Mean Green. Interestingly, he made an enormous impact as a television announcer for the pro wrestling circuit. The UTD Bookstore will have Bill's books available for purchase. Free and open to the public. Call 972-883-4951 for details. - Tom Koch, McDermott Library.
  9. Live by the sword, die by the sword. With the no huddle it definitely confused OU a bit, and given time I think we'll be pleasantly surprised. If the o-line can protect and give Meager/Vizza more time it will pay nice dividends. It is abundantly clear with the speed of our offense (play calling) if we are playing a team like OU and our defense doesn't have a chance to stay off the field then it's going to be a track meet and could be very ugly. Having a chance to meet and get to know Coach Mendoza I can tell you he will be much more critical of himself and yersterday's game than anyone on here. Defense aside I saw a much more disciplined offense in the fact the shifting and play clock mgmt we would have NEVER pulled that off without many more penalties in the past. Also remember they were ranked #8 and this is an entire new system so I think next week will be much easier to handle!
  10. I'm sure there are some incentives/penalties in that contract. It's pretty standard IF you're willing to pay for them, UNT could (and probably will) do the same. My dad is a Project Manager/PE and growing up I always remember him talking about contract stuff.
  11. All I know was when I was up at Dodges' QB camp this summer I was amazed at 1. The amount of out of state talent (license plates) for not only QB's but also WR's and 2. how incredible Dodge was at really teaching/coaching these young men on not only being a great FB player but a leader in the class/workplace. Regardless of who starts Sept 1 things will NEVER be as dismal as we've endured in the past, and if Dodge was able to land this class after 21 days from start to finish of this recruiting season just wait til he can get the kids up on campus next year!! It's going to be fun!! Also remember Rome was not built in a day, so I for one will be glad to give him some latitute!!
  12. When I was first involved with the Tarrant County NT Exes I asked and got permission from David Layton to have some interlocking NT merch. made for the sole purpose of raising funds for the Tarrant County NT Exes chapter. I paid for and have the embroidery stitchwork for the interlocking logo and believe Emmitt even bought one of the few hats I made up. I got explicit permission from Layton to do it, and will dig out the info on where I had it done, I got a few of them made for myself and thought they turned out pretty good. I also had some interlocking NT tee shirts made for Arbor Days (which got rained out) and never got sold. I've had them in the original box all this time and will see if I can find them in the garage. I'll sell them and give the proceeds to the Exes as was originally intended. Steve
  13. Is this the same masonic home that was involved with the Kids Korner ticket scandal? I.E they said they'd bring 150 kids but called and cancelled the day before the game?
  14. We actually pulled the last site down and relaunched yesterday following a special story run on Channel 5. link to news story called "Commit to be Fit". We've got a lot of content that hasn't made it up yet. This site up now is something we had to relaunch for yesterday so we didn't miss the news coverage bump. it will be changing significantly over the next few weeks.
  15. Very exciting stuff happening in the West household, check out the new site and let me know what you think @ www.LessFatMoreFit.com Steve PS Spread the word

  17. I love on the CBS video player has a boss button, and when you press it the graph shows how much food/drinks are consumed during the tourney. One of the categories is pepto and grubs, very nice meal!!
  18. I agree winning will bring exposure, but expecting the local stations to do more than they normally do to get footage could very well be limiting our exposure which is what I was originally talking about. So from anyone at NTTV...
  19. I was talking with one of the local DFW sportscasters at a function last night about what's going on @ UNT and getting his perspective when we got into a very good conversation about getting sports coverage and the news works. In a nutshell TCU and SMU both have agreements with CSTV which provides footage to local stations through their conferences (Sunbelt has no such agreement) which is where we come in. Apparently all the local newstations get their feeds from either news trucks which upload the info straight to a satellite or through a company called Westar Satellite. Since we all know what a feat it is to get newstrucks up there (although it will be easier now) What he said needed to happen is drop a fiber optic line to Westar (~ $20k) which would then make the footage available for local news. He said since we have an arrangement with the local cable company in Denton they might already have a fiber optic feed UNT could use, and suggested I check with someone there. The interesting thing was the fact he had spoken to certain athletic dept people (not RV) about Westar and getting more coverage but nothing happened and said until the supporters/alum make it a priority it wouldn't. I know RV is busy but this is something that given RV's recent comments about taking UNT to the next level seems like a no-brainer. He even mentioned the fact UNT could put basketball footage etc. together and start raising the visability of the overall program. So the question for the RTVF guys @ Denton Cable do you know if you have a feed or who to talk to about getting this project started!! Apparently after the feed is laid the on going expense is very minimal. Thoughts?
  20. Amen to that, I mentor a group of 8th graders at Harwood JH (which feeds into Trinity) and there was a new ninth grader straight off the plane from Tonga who was already ~6"7 !!
  21. I thought maybe he had been following TD and crew around the state showing off the new stadium model which is why we were getting all these recruits! I wonder if TD and GG have met (can't wait to see them at the banquet!!).That will be gold, id love some audio of that conversation.
  22. Thank you for officially hijacking my thread! Right now i'm Struggelling to get tickets Go Joe!!! Anyone??? I could probably get Joe to kiss you !!
