Sykes Dismissed From The Team By Steven Bartolotta, August 12, 2009, 11:48 p.m. North Texas head coach Todd Dodge has dismissed junior linebacker Marquis Sykes from the team. Sykes, who signed with the Mean Green in 2006, redshirted his first season and earned two letters in 2007 and 2008. He played in three games in 2007 and eight games in 2008.

Well I know UNTs' very own Kevin Fralicks landed over there after leaving UNT.

I've got some youth at church that I want to bring to a game this season. One of them will be a starting QB @ a 5A school in the metroplex and another is a starting WR/DB. I don't want to break any NCAA rules by bringing them up there since i'm a "booster". Do I need to notify the athletic department or do anything special if they're coming with me?

Serious question... Would NCAA sand v-ball only use two players or will there be more like reg.v-ball? And do most beach players just switch over from infoors when they get to college or do theyy start playing earlier?

It's sad that something like this has to happen to put everything into perspective!! As Brett Vito said in his piece we may never know what happened but after hearing about him working with big brother and sisters and doing football camps with his coach gives us a pretty good perspective on his character. It got me thinking about doing something about it and thought i'd throw out an idea and see what you think. I think a reward should be offered to catch the person responsible for this terrible waste of life. I feel as a member of the team and Mean Green Family we have a responsibility to show we take care of our own and will not stand for this heinous action. I know First State Bank and Wells Fargo are sponsors of athletics maybe they would let us set up an account for a reward and possibly a future scholarship in his memory. What do you think? I can contact a bank and see if we can get this going that way it would easy to donate and we'd know the funds would be accounted for. Plus if there is any good can come from this I think this would help. Its sad it takes something like this to put everything in perspective just how good we have it even in these "tough economic times" You in?

After the threat of taxing the AIG bonuses this legislature has shown it has little regard for following the law. Watch out BCS you might be next. How about trying to get a balanced budget with some attainable growth figures first....nah scratch that.

To say i've been dissappointed in the administrations almost willingness to let another school get that status without much of a fight is a huge understatement.

I registered for it and now it doesn't seem to be available / working is anyone else having problems? I'm curious it takes me to a Jump TV screen which seems to be stuck in a loop, but another time I got the XOS subscription info, not sure if it's relevent or not. Anyone?

I know we typically judge on field performance but I was impressed with this note from the blog "Defensive coordinator Gary DeLoach is known for leading some of the best defenses in North Texas history during his time here from 1998-2002. He has always stressed accountability in the classroom and he brought a little trick that he learned at UCLA to help instill that value in his current players. DeLoach keeps a very close eye on class attendance and when one of his players misses class, he requires them to stand outside his office and hold their books above their head until he feels that enough of the information has seeped from those books into their heads." Another reason Deloach is such a class act!
