Prez Smatresk: UNT to the Big 12
Cr1028 replied to Christopher Walker's topic in Mean Green Football
Man, Smatty out there killin it. -
Guys, let's not go overboard here. Cherokee is not a race, it is a tribe or nation. Native American is a race. Nobody is saying to call him the Indian Outlaw(like the Tim McGraw song) or anything like Caucasian Sensation or African-American "fill-in-the-blank. Calling him something like the Cherokee Champ is more along the lines of Nigerian Nightmare, Dunkin Dutchman, or The Swede. Let's relax a little around here, shall we? Having said all that, I think we can come up with better names although as said before, it is a bit premature for nicknames. Thinks like: related to his hometown? The Locust Grove Assassin The Treasure Trove from Locust Grove related to his name? Mason "I'm too short?" Fine! A'Mason Mason Fine or maybe something based on his initials? 1 bad MF or

DRC: Baker examining UNT scheduling philosophy
Cr1028 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I'd rather schedule Texas State than SFA or Sam. No more FCS, please. I'm sure we'll be able to get home and home with Baylor again soon. They will be very winnable games again very soon. -
I thought DT got injured at Army. Edit: I went back and looked, the starter was Tune in 2010, he wasn't injured in the Clemson game, he dislocated his hip in the Rice game (2nd game), and DT injured his hip in the 3rd game, the Army game. We lost 10 starters in the first 3 games in Todd Dodge's final season. Lady Luck certainly didn't smile on that man while he was here.

MGB: UNT and the body bag/opportunity game -- A look back
Cr1028 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This is a good point. Many of them look at it as their best way to catch the eye of NFL scouts and I can promise you none, unless Mean Joe is still scouting, watched our win over B-C. -
"I hope when the president looks up and sees the score she knows how much we're getting for this game"? "We're gonna have to play our best game and they're gonna have to play their worst game" for us to win? "This is the hardest place to coach/win/whatever, I know, I work here everyday"?. You know, the sentimental favorites.

That sounds eerily similar to something Todd Dodge said before the 79-10 OU game. I'm not kidding.

@UNT90 We #expectmore. That's why Wren Baker is calling the shots now. Yea, RV sucked, that's why he got removed. Move on, your banner worked. Go celebrate the win. -

Gotta agree with 90 on the wheels. Rodge was pretty damn fast. -
DRC Monday column: Fine may change UNT history with young QBs

I seem to recall having nightmares about a freshman starting against Tulsa in 2011. Maybe starting because of injury to the starter does not count as starting? -
I believe the person that said Pirtle should be red, I think Blake Patterson should be reda, and I know damn well Mitch Cason should be red unless he is holding field goals or something because he surely hasn't seen the field at quarterback this season.

How much less could you care? I need to know if you're in the "cares a lot" or "cares a little" camp.

Reminds me of the Talons circa 2006
-
I didn't watch very long, I just saw him with a drop. I'm glad he made up for it.
-
I caught that in Vito's video too. I think it is just his "at the end of the day".
-
Medical redshirt and you get the year back. It will be good experience for him and if he does some good things, that freshman all America team nod is in the bag. ?
-
Emporia State measured him at 5'10.75". I trust a recruiting school measurement.
-
Doesn't bother me as long as they don't get flagged. We need a team that gets excited about doing good things.

You're thinking of Texas without the North or you're thinking of SMU. Now if you had said 9 conference titles and 2 and 3 star recruits you might be close. As far as quarterback height goes, if you'd been here more than a few months, you'd know that the last coach would often choose height over ability much to the disgust of many on this board.
