  1. From the looks of the crowd it appears that 35K of that is UNT fans
  2. Nothing. It was Georgio that replaced Mercer as the play by play announcer (Mercer didn't step down willingly). If you heard games back then it was obviously needed. Mercer was great in his prime and a legend, but his prime had long since past and it was time for him to step down. Its not an uncommon tale. Legends like Keith Jackson and Pat Summerall called games a couple of seasons too long too. It was uncomfortable listening.
  3. I wonder how much profit the English Department made??? Why is the only department people are concerned with profit/loss is the Athletic Dept?
  4. How many of you have your name on a wall in Apogee for donating money??? Junior does... Doesnt matter, he still likes the team he grew up following and said some stupid things 20 years ago. He's a prick and doesnt deserve the benefit of the doubt despite his contributions and anything nice he said about us since. He must be hated, dispised and disparaged on this fourm even in threads that have nothing to do with him [sarcasm] This is the how we treat our fellow alumni donors and people wonder why we don't have more???
  5. With the reputation of Cotton Bowl ticket takers you can probably get in with the ol' $20 handshake
  6. Didnt read the article but from the comments it appears to be more of the same. Its just evidence of why so many of us were underwhelmed by the UNLV choice. Truth be told the UNLV vs North Texas match up has little appeal to anyone outside the respective schools fan bases. And lets's face it, neither one of your bases is all that large. At least with a Big 10 team or 'Cuse you could hope some of their fans would travel to the game in hopes of good Dallas weather and a respite from their winters. UNLV draws flies to their home games, and not many (if any) of their fans are going to travel from desert of Nevada to Texas because of warmer weather.
  7. Sad?? Mack was making over $4 million a year, living in a great city, got to leave on his schedule when he probably should have been fired 2 seasons ago. I wish someone would treat me as shabbily
  8. Id like to see Washington hire Orgeron. The subsequent UW/USC games would be delicious!
  9. SMU will never be Dallas' team. It's all a matter of perception and demographics. SMU has the supposed advantage of being located in the heart of a large city with a huge population to draw fans from. However, when you think of SMU what comes to mind? Rich Kid school, Lilly white, Country Club atmosphere. Its an image that endures with the population of Dallas and one that many SMU'ers embrace. Being located in 'the bubble' of the Park Cities helps perpetuate the image. Now look at the demographics of the city of Dallas. It's a majority-minority city now (and has been for some time). Do you think the majority of citizens in Dallas feel welcome on the SMU campus or at their games? Although the "Boulvarding" atmosphere is great, do you think the fraternity boys, soroity girls and the good'ol boy alumni crowd appeal to, or feel welcoming to people outside that socio-economic group? The Cowboys will always be the area's #1 team, the local colleges have to fight over what's left of the market. SMU has a disadvantage in a small alumni base and target audience that has moved further and further away out of the city. Now residing in Plano, Allen, Flower Mound, Frisco, McKinney, etc.
  10. Apogee is like most college football stadia in that beer and alcohol is only sold in the club levels/suites. Being that UTSA doesnt play in a college football stadium their ignorance can be forgiven.
  11. We dont hate UTSA fans. You're confusing a lack of respect with hate
  12. "67.8% of all statistics on the internet are made up. Don't trust them"- Abraham Lincoln
  13. I concur. The Alamodome is great....for an Arena football game experience.
  14. Free? You're paying rent. Does your AD just leave the money on the nightstand after the games??
  15. I find it amusing how during the Sun Belt/Big West/I-AA years people would bemoan the lack of any real rivals. Now people bitch about any smack talk post re UTSA, SMU, etc..
  16. YES, but with a chrome finish for the green and black helmets.
  17. If you go to their message board you will be greeted with a banner ad: "Hey Unregistered, are you planning on going to the UTSA football game vs. North Texas on November 23rd in Denton? See the below link for our ticket group buy and hotel information. There will be a large contingent of UTSA fans staying at the hotel and hosting an after party. If you already have tickets or aren't going you can make this notice disappear by clicking the 'X' in the upper right hand corner of this notice box. We hope to see you there! Click here for Ticket/Hotel Info "
  18. Roadrunner fans think we hate them. I've always said they were confusing a lack of respect with hatred. What was to respect? They are the beneficiaries of a lot of built in advantages for a start up program. Talent? - Located in a recruiting hotbed state, Lots of kids get overlooked and others want to transfer Stadium?- don't need to build one, We got the Alamodome sitting empty most weekends of the year. Conference?- No need to toil away in Div II, FCS, Sunbelt- Conference realingment is here and CUSA needs a warm body to fill an empty post. Fans? Market?- Only top 10 city in America without professional football or a FBS college football team. UTSA has been the ultimate Right Place @ Right Time. Anything they had wasn't earned or built. They had it handed to them. BUT that has changed. UTSA has taken their built in advantages and expanded on them. They have built a decent football program in a short period of time. A lot of teams have potential. UTSA is actually captializing on theirs. I for one am happy they are a conference mate. They've earned respect.
  19. Correct. Laying on top of a pinned player so they can't get up is not holding, It was a legal play.
  20. I hope HickoryHouse is right. Our record in this type of situation isnt very good. I hope Mac has changed the culture and this team gets a big win in front of a huge crowd tonight. I wish I could make it to Denton for this one,
