Will to Win

I am just happy that we have some play makers on both sides of the ball waiting to make an impact. Now we just need a defensive coach to get those players playing to their potential just like Coach Dodge did with our offense. Tailgating for 2008 season: This year was a bit stressful with new rules and not being to set up where we were used to setting up. NO UMBRELLA'S allowed for our last home game. That was a surprise, I see the logic, but was still surprised we had to leave them out. The few of us who went should of got a mulligan for the umbrellas for the last home game , Thanksgiving weekend, and the weather conditions involved. I hope they change up the rules for tailgating next year because this year was not as fun when compared to years past. Most of all year the Blue parking Lot was never full and would of liked to see the "first come, first serve" approach we had in Orange Lot last year. Way more fun & Less stressful.

Our prevent defense prevented us from winning! I think we are all sick to our stomach, it hurts to know we suck but it's gotta get better...right?

I'll be there to send of our seniors, but my expectations will be low for the defense. Gotta keep the faith that RM will just walk away at the end of the season.

Nice Win, we played well tonight. Nice to see we had about 7000 fans in the house.

That was an ugly game.

Casey Fitzgerald was non-existent the last two years. Todd Dodge shows up with a good offensive scheme and Fitz is #4 in the nation in receiving yards. Our Offense is light years better because of COACH Dodge. I believe we have some talent on the defensive side of the ball, we just need a coach who can coach on that side of the ball. Mendoza is not that coach. He is not a defensive guru like Dodge is regarded on the offensive side. I agree we will need faster, bigger players but you still have to know technique, assignments & ability to read or anticipate and counter it. That comes from coaching. See you on the 24th!

I think what might happen is that Ron Mendoza steps down as DC for UNT because I don't TD would let him go. That is what I would do, just go back to HS Football because I know I would be better off. Do the right thing!

What if Dodge Ron Mendoza? What then? We need a new tough minded proven defensive coach. That is very clear I just hope Dodge makes the change.

2nd that, they should now have to pay their own tuition for bringing up some serious allegations and attempting to shed a negative light on our University and Football coaching staff.

Ahh, I was waiting for this change. If you are going to pull Meager because of poor play and insert Vizza then our last ranked defense should also have some personnel changes. Let's see what Penson & Robertson can do? Maybe Mendoza's defense will start showing some results with his players in it? Either way I like Penson's size & speed.

Our Offense is way better this. I am happy about that but I get a real sick felling in my stomach to see our defense try to play. agree with KingDL1, happy to see Vizza get playing time and build his experience up.

Funny, Jim Harbaugh interviewed for the UNT job, still..I'll take TD anyday as long as he fixes the DEFENSE!

It really hurts to see our defense fall apart everytime we count on them to slow or stop the opponent. Our offense has to score at least 50 pts to give our defense enough cushion not to lose the game. OK time for positives: Vizza looked good Jackson looked great Let's hope for next week!

Then why burn Vizza's redshirt? I would of kept Tune or Phillips as the back up and Meager as the experienced QB for this year. Vizza'a chance for play time at Nevada would of been challenging at best because they have 4 freshman QB's & a sophomore QB. Well, you can't unscramble a scrambled egg, I would give Vizza more opportunities to play Meager just has too many turnovers to be efficient and reliable as a QB. You got's to take care of the ball Grossman, I mean Meager.

Is it the players or the scheme? I would guess it's the scheme. Question is, if Mendoza can't get it done would TD let his friend go at the end of the season and get someone in here who can get it done? Coaches are not immune to the aspect of competition, if someone (defensive coach) is better than RM and is avialable for hire, then Mendoza should be replaced, or reassigned on the current coaching staff, at the end of the season. Without defense, we won't win many games.

If by game three we still give up tons of yardage, that would seem to me, pleanty of opportunity to show if the defensive scheme needs to be modified. Anymore games and we will not have a chance for a winning record in our conference this year.

I have heard several sports media say that OU's staff made fun of Menodza's defensive scheme. In two games that I have seen, I can't tell what is causing us to give up so many yards on defense? We have decent veteran players on the defensive side of the ball so what is the cause because I can't tell?
