  1. If you don't like what I have to say, don't read my comments. read something that is more along the lines of how you think the world should be Mr. Perfect.
  2. oh well, the next beat writer will be better than the one that was dismissed.
  3. I agree as well, It makes too much sense.
  4. I was just about to say the same thing with the Hawaiian Warrior battle dance, although I do find it interesting that they would gravitate and identify with such a tame song and dance? Maybe it will build into some menacing crescendo down the road? You got to start from some where!
  5. Our first team defense really looks good. Craig Robertson is looking like something special along with Joseph Miller. They were running a lot of mixed coverages, linebackers on the line then 1 or 2 would Blitz and 1 or 2 would fall back into coverage. They were getting pressure on our first team offense. It was nice to see (pressure)! compared to last years defense or "efense" I really like Coach DeLoach. I arrived at 3:50 and he was in the midst of being extremely pissed off at some player. He was yelling at the top of his lungs for what seemed like two minutes. He really let him have it. I'm sure what ever that player did wrong, it is highly unlikely he will repeat that mistake ever again. Vizza incident: I was looking down field where he threw the ball then over to Vizza and saw him laying on the field. The QB should be hands off or at the most a touch. We can't be hitting our QB, he took enough hits last year. What a trooper! I like what I see, can't wait for the Green & White game. Today's approx. attendance: 50-60
  6. I will be there come hell or high water. Man, I am so excited about this year!
  7. I just got an unconfirmed report that a mass e-mail is being drafted up by the liquidator's, currently at Radisson, to all booked guests (Hotel & Event) that the new owner (UNT) will be closing down the entire building May 31 2008. The guests are encouraged to find alternate means of lodging and event space in and around Denton beyond May 31. Refunds will be made available to those who demand it. Let the speculation continue to foster for at least another two months as to the fate of that building!
  8. According to the newly updated Meangreensports.com site, lists Chase Wasson as our newest graduate assistant. Well, this certainly can't hurt us and look forward to see what Chase can bring to our team. Site also updated with Coach DeLoach & Coach Buckels.
  9. Since I moved to Denton from Nachitoches LA. (NSU transfer) in 2001, I have never read about proposed football games that involved TCU. Why is SMU the only DFW D-1 school we consider playing? Is there a beef between UNT & TCU that I don't know about? Can anyone advise on why we don't consider playing TCU?
  10. I will bring my wife and son for sure. Maybe one or two more. We should have a good showing. This is my hope!
  11. Not really surprised about "Scoggins" and am more surprised that A.J. Penson is not in the starting rotation. A.J. played well last year.
  12. This is very good news. Very happy that Cam was awarded a medical redshirt.
  13. I am all about forgiving young people who make mistakes, everybody makes mistakes! The point to focus on is what degree of mistake did you make? Petty theft of some small store item or alleged rape participant? The fact that he wasn't charged due to lack of evidence is telling enough. In my book Jones is already a character (integrity) concern. I would not want him on our team.
  14. New Orleans (La.) Abramson defensive end Alonzo Horton is one of the top overall signees of Auburn's 2005 recruiting class. Horton chose the Tigers over offers from Nebraska, Ole Miss and Tennessee among others. Horton signed with Auburn in 2005 out of Abramson High School in New Orleans, La. and was one of the top signees in the class. Rivals.com ranked Horton the No. 9 overall player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 22 outside linebacker in the country. http://auburn.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?...428&sport=1 I think we all expect big things from Alonzo and I am sure he will deliver! He's put on 51 lbs. since high school back in 2005.
  15. Now that Deavin Cox is gone, what are the odds Riley will wear #11 as his number of choice? or will he go with a different number?
  16. Hope he does well. I am sure he will excel as a high school defensive coordinator.
  17. Feels like it should happen based upon the info, would be a fantastic shot in the arm for this program heading into next season.
  18. Jones picks SMU despite Hawaii blitz By Joe Schad ESPN.com (Archive) Updated: January 7, 2008, 2:01 PM ET * Comment * Email * Print June Jones will be introduced at a 4 p.m. ET news conference today as the head coach at SMU. June Jones Jones Earlier, Jones' agent, Leigh Steinberg, confirmed that Jones had agreed to a 5-year deal worth about $2 million per year. On Sunday, a source told ESPN that SMU was close to finalizing the details of a contract for Jones. The source said the deal is expected to be booster-funded. SMU athletic director Steve Orsini reportedly has sold as many as 20 boosters on the concept of donating as much as $100,000 per year for five years. Jones was moved by Hawaii fans, including Gov. Linda Lingle, who pushed for him to stay. But, ultimately, facilities and a bigger budget won out. Jones called Hawaii officials Monday morning to tell them of his decision. "He slept on it, finally came to peace and arrived at a decision,'' Steinberg said. "I think he's exhilarated by the challenge, by the environment.'' Jones, who turns 55 next month, has gone 75-41 with Hawaii, including 4-2 in bowls. His teams finished first in the WAC twice and second two other times. Former SMU coach Phil Bennett, who was let go in October, was the fourth coach to lead SMU since it came off the death penalty in 1989. The Mustangs are 58-153-3 in that span. The on-field struggles have been compounded by the long, slow hunt for Bennett's replacement. The search has taken about 10 weeks, with SMU going from the first major college with a vacancy to the only one left without a coach. The school received permission to speak with Jones on Dec. 24. Joe Schad covers college football for ESPN. Information from The Associated Press is included in this report.
  19. JJ will have a losing season his first year. It takes time to build a program to a 12-0 point ... 9 years for UH with JJ! TD will have a wining season his second year.
  20. I welcome the DFW area competition. This is good for the DFW area and competition always brings out the best in people so we will just have to improve all facets of football operations here at UNT.
  21. I noticed that in the WVU game if Pat White looked at the WVU sidelines for a play call there were at least 4 persons signaling in the pay to White (obviously Pat knew which one to look at). I bring this up up because it seems as the season progressed TD was becoming more aware that the opposing coaching staff might be queuing in on his signal calling, and as a result , in later games Coach George would stand in front of TD as a shield during those moments. I like the idea of having 4-5 persons signaling in to avoid any "spying" or "stealing signs" that might be going on on the other side of the field. What do you think?
  22. He did the right thing, now we can hope our defense will will improve next season. Trust in Dodge!
