  1. Good point, Quoner. Apathetic students hurt this University, and advertising to them doesn't get us very far. The question here is: How do we get apathetic students to care? Personally, I can tell you I had a lot of friends in college who didn't really care much about sports, even if it was there school. But every football Saturday, and every basketball game night, I would personally gather as many of them as I could and drag them to Fouts or the Pit with me. I can't tell you I magically turned them into huge UNT fans, but I will say that they are at least somewhat interested now. I'm sure others have even better stories, but I just figured I would share.
  2. From the official Sun Belt site: "Live webstreaming coverage of every every game from Lafayette for only $9.95" It makes it sound that this is a video feed, not just an audio feed. Has anyone purchased this in previous years. If so, how's the video quality? It is worth the 10 bucks? Just thought I would ask, I'd hate to miss a couple North Texas Tournament wins because I was too cheap to pay 10 bucks!
  3. Thanksgiving is Nov. 22nd, so our game at home against Western Kentuckey on the 24th is the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
  4. Good point. The NASCAR race is on November 4th.
  5. I don't like the final home game being the Satuday after Thanksgiving. A couple years ago, we played Arkansas State on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and attentance was just plain terrible.
  6. Does anybody know how the revenues from the first round games are divided? Is it basically just another home game for us? Does the conference get the money since it is the conference tournament? I noticed that the ticket prices went up a couple of bucks and season ticket holders will still have to buy a separate ticket for this game. Just wondering if anyone knew anything.
  7. Since nobody else started this thread, I will. We all know how big this game is on Wednesday night vs. Louisiana-Lafayette. It's time to win, or go home. So, who all is going to be there? Also, what are you attendance predictions?
  8. I'll definately be there. It's also important for us to get as many co-workers, friends, significant others, and not so significant others to come with us for this big game.
  9. Looking forward to the game Wednesday. Will the game be at 7 PM like they normally are?
  10. OK, let's do a hypothetical situation here: We're 18-9 right now, with 2 very winnable games remaining. Let's say we win both, and finish the regular season at 20-9. This will more than likely get us the 4 or 5 seed, and a first round home tournament game against a weak team. Another game we should win, putting us at 21-9. Now, this puts us in the tourney in Lafayette against another 4 or 5 seed, a game that's basically a toss-up. If we win this game, we'll be put against a South Alabama in the 2nd round. My point is that 21 wins should definately happen, and 22 wins with a semifinal loss in the conference tourney is definately do-able. My question is: Does 21-22 wins get us an NIT bid? If I remember correctly, 3 teams from the Sun Belt made the NIT last year, and we have the 2nd best overall record in the Belt behind South Alabama. What does everyone think?
  11. Very interesting. I would definately listen if I'm standing there and I hear a lady say "Hey there, big guy!" It's just one of those things that you don't hear everyday.
  12. Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. As I posted in another thread, Champps in Addison will be showing the game tonight. Let's show up in force to show them how North Texas supports businesses that support North Texas. I'll be there with 2 friends watching the Mavs and North Texas at the same time and drinking cold beer! Doesn't get much better than that.
  13. Champps in Addison will be showing the game tonight. I just called, and they said it will be on. That's where I'll be, feel free to join me.
  14. Not sure which sports package on DirecTV you have to have to get it, but the game is on MASN Ch. 626. It is also on ESPN Full Court (Ch. 785). Does anyone know of a good sports bar that'll have the game on? The Mavericks are playing Houston at 7:00 on Thursday night as well, so it's a great night to hit up a sports bar. Thanks for the help.
  15. Feel free to move this thread. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this: http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa...l.77350ed8.html
  16. I was at a Mavericks game a couple of years ago and it was David Robinson's final regular season game in Dallas. He was honored at halftime with a video presentation, and then got a standing ovation. I thought it was a great tribute to someone who has done great things for the game.
  17. Yes, back when there were 11 basketball playing conference teams, we hosted the tournament. This year, there are 13 basketball playing conference teams. The first-round is being played at campus sites this year, with the top 3 teams getting a bye. The next 5 (seeds 4-8) host seeds 9-13. The 5 winners plus the 3 byes go to Lafayette (the host this year) for the remainder of the tournament. The Sun Belt has never had its tournament like this before, but other conferences do this as well. I believe this is how the Southland tournament is done.
  18. Pretty good first half so far. We just need to keep it going.
  19. Why isn't anybody talking about the missed free throw with 2.0 seconds left. True, we hit the 2nd one to go up by 1. But... if we make the 1st one, we are up 1, and we should miss the 2nd free throw on purpose since UNO had no timeouts left. This would have definately caused a frantic shot from beyond half court. Now, I don't think we should have called timeout, but it all could have been averted by hitting the first free throw.
  20. We need a huge crowd to match the magnitude of this contest tonight. Be there!
  21. Absolutely. We're at home this time, so it should be completely different. We need a big crowd tomorrow night! Remember, this team is 16-7 this year.
  22. Sounds like a great idea if the Athletic Department is willing to do the promo.
