  1. My comment was not directed at you. More of a comment that the average person would give a big meh to signing a punter/kickoff specialist. BTW: We also have Sam Aguilera as a RS Freshman punter next year
  2. Insert Guyton, Tyler Wilson, and Deion Hair-Griffin at WR Nic Smith will be there at RB Pearson and Izzy will likely pass Quinn
  3. I believe the suckosity falls on athletics(as this is an athletics board for the most part) and that is what we are talking about here. I am VERY proud of the university as a whole. But the Athletic Department has been dysfunctional fr a VERY VERY VERY long time. I believe WB can, and will, change that.
  4. I may not agree with grabbing the picthforks and torches and heading to the AC just yet but other than soccer this is not an over generalization.
  5. Littrell showed us last season that nobody's job is safe and if the coaching staff thinks you are the good enough then you will start. This is why it's so important that Cade got here early. He will be here for Spring Practice and there can be a real battle for the job between him and Mason. Not sure if the staff will push Izzy this Spring as he had an ACL injury last season. If he is healthy then we will have three QBs to compete for the next seven months. As much as I like Mason. If someone else is better then get him out there.
  6. I am excited about Guyton. I think he has the ability to step right in and be a difference maker at WR. I am also excited about Nic Smith. Although not part of this class he will be coming off his redshirt season and by all accounts dominated in scout team play. When you look at the offense we have 4 3-star players at WR/RB and Smith from last year.
  7. This staff has a long way to go to change the minds of high school players and coaches. UNT has been associated with losing for a long long long time. One of the only things we have to offer right now is a legitimate chance of playing time as a freshman. That is simply not enough for most high school kids. We have lost A LOT over the years. We have NEVER sniffed selling out the stadium. We have a hard time getting on regional TV let alone national TV. UNT has been the butt of college football jokes for years and a fallback for players. Seth and Co are going to have to win with the players they can get and win consistently. Only then will players and coaches take notice that we are serious about football. It's a crappy situation but it's the one we are in. I know I am preaching to the choir but UNT is not thought of very highly from an athletic standpoint. We are known as a school that has great Music and EM programs that HAPPENS to play sports. It is going to take WINNING to change the minds of high school players and coaches. The worst decision the UNT Admin ever made was dropping to 1AA in the 80's. It's sad to think where we could be as a university had we not made this colossal error in judgement. That being said, It is a catch 22 that we are in as a program because we need to win consistently to change perceptions. To win consistently we need great recruiting classes. Seth is going to have to win with what we have. Ask BillySee, RealJayD, GMG24 and some of the others that are plugged in to recruiting what the perception is and I assure you it will be sobering.
  8. This is a more important piece than most would believe. Field position is a vitally important part of the game. We need someone back there that can flip the field if the offense sputters and someone who can pen them deep when we do score.
  9. That statement is delusional. Kiffin will be gone as soon as another job comes open if he isn't run out of town first. Kiffin is a program destroyer. He has been busy alienating as many high schools in Florida as he can.
  10. He'll win a few games. Bang a few booster's wives and then be on the first plane out to ANY other job.
  11. If the embedded link to the video does not work then you can go to Webster Dictionary online and search stepping stone.
  12. Why is that a good thing? Neither of those players ever set foot on a football field for us. You might as well say it would be great to sign Superman because he will play as many games for UNT as those two.
  13. So the class was ranked 98th in 2012 and 106th in 2011. That makes me feel better.
  14. Glad Kuehne pulled back the curtain on what we all thought was going on only to have it confirmed with yet ANOTHER kick to the nards. It was a tough pill to swallow and even tougher knowing what we could have been(the sleeping giant tried to get out of bed in the early oughts bu RV just kept adding blankets to the bed). But hey we do have a whole case full of "Coming In Under Budget" trophies thanks to RV. I know I am proud of those.
  15. We must do WHATEVER it takes to get large crowds into Apogee regardless of who the fans are. Fans do a few funny things like: 1. Make for a better game atmosphere. 2. Spend money for parking. 3. Spend money for tickets. 4. Spend money for concessions. 5. Spend money for gear at the in-stadium apparel store. 6 Spend money at local businesses on game day. The simple math says that more fans = more money for the school and some more money for Denton to boot. We can't be scared to schedule teams that might bring more fans and might beat the crap out of us.
  16. I'm just tired of the old "We are a sleeping giant" phrase that gets tossed around here(trust me I have been guilty of it too). This m-effin(here's to you DD) giant should be plenty rested by now. Get this giant some coffee please. It's ALWAYS; "wait 'til next year", "Give(insert coaches name here) a full recruiting cycle.", "This is a system guy", "If he were 2 inches taller, he would have infinite P5 offers". I'm sick of the same old thing with UNT recruiting and the inevitable on-field results that follow the annual 100+ recruiting ranking. Four Conference championships didn't help. HOD Bowl's didn't help. Apogee didn't help. NOTHING seems to help. The big albatross around our collective neck is LOSING. We have lost A LOT of games and recruits take notice. I have been going to games for 24 years and have witnessed five seasons above 500. FIVE SEASONS. I can't even consider myself long suffering as there are many posters and lurkers that have endured much much more. I feel like the guy complaining that he lost some shingles in the tornado when my neighbor had his house flattened. Actually that's not accurate. I am complaining about my lawn furniture being blown over when my neighbors have there house destroyed year after year after year after year. I've been kicked in the nuts so many times that it just doesn't hurt anymore. I honestly think that the giant doesn't give a $hit anymore and is just gonna sleep. I'm out of ideas on how to "turn this thing around". For those that say that the recruit rankings don't matter then why have we had 19 losing seasons in the last 24 years coupled with recruit rankings in the 100+ range. I'll hang up myself and listen.
  17. No hard feelings here but if you say your are going to visit then you show up. If you go in another direction(MUTS) then at least have the decency to call and say you are not coming. No more no less. Nothing mentioned about being the victim. Doing what you say you are going to do is all about being a man. Again, good luck to the young man but part of being a man is keeping your word.
  18. I would hope he would tell the staff if he changed his plans and wasn't going to show up. It's called common courtesy. If MUTS is is plan then good luck to him.
  19. If everything goes as we hope, Wren will be the AD at a P5 school in 5 years or so and UNT will be looking to reload on our way up.
  20. Let's be honest. Wren has been evaluating from day one. He just isn't saying it. He said he would evaluate at the end of the season and he is honoring that in name only. I think the die has been cast and Wren is doing all of the preliminary work on the hire now. As soon as the horn sounds at Marshall Benford is out the door and Baker will be on the fast track to the new coach. Expect it to be a very short list. Five more weeks.
