  1. The score should have been 33-10. Two missed field goals and a defensive touchdown negated by a silly holding penalty. The interception in the endzone was a freshman mistake. We are going to have those. Jeremy Knott really scares me. I have never seen him look good. Even the kicks that he makes look awkward. Don't we have a freshman kicker that looked strong in camp? I'd like to see him get a chance. Knott has proven to be unreliable. Knott's first kick-off goes deep into the endzone, the next makes it to the 10. His field goal attempts look like the ball is spinning right to left, not end over end. Is he a former soccer player?
  2. It's good to see that The Colony Eagle is still around. I sell some great software products to help you with your productivity issues. GMG
  3. I think we are underestimating Ball St. 12-2 is stong, reguardless of conference affiliation. Ball St. was a nationaly ranked team last year. We are going to have our hands full. The Mean Green has a ton of potential this year, but we can't get too crazy. We have 3 wins in 2 years. I am hoping that we are competitive and that the defense makes a strong showing. I will count that as significant improvement and feel good about our chances in SBC games.
  4. Ouch...I wish there was something here that isn't true. Todge will always be able to get a HS coaching job in this state. Hopefully, he gets this thing turned around and we will be able to laugh about the "building process" of his first couple of years.
  5. Maybe Todge is concerned about their saftey. We wouldn't want our two most valuable beat reporters getting hurt by a mis-guided pass or a late tackle on the sidelines. I'm sure his intentions are pure.
  6. Nice comment on having to watch practice outside the fenced area. He is soooo bitter about that.
  7. NT 10 WKU 38 I don't see anything changing without major renovations to the offensive and defensive lines. We are WAY too small to compete in the trenches.
  8. What year were these photos from?
  9. That's too much info T-Rock. BTW - I had my wedding reception there and spent my first night as a married man in the "honeymoon suite."
  10. Gus Meyers thought it was too big every year. He thought anything over 20 ft was "gravy."
  11. I seriously doubt (given the size and make-up of Talons the past 15 years) that any of the recent Bonfires can match the size of the ones of the late '80's and early '90's. More people = more help to build the fire. 40x40x40 SOLID.
  12. Thanks Rick. I appreciate all your hard work on this stadium and for our Athletic Department in the past several years. We can and we will be the program we all know and expect North Texas to be. Our best days are still ahead of us!
  13. I think ideally you want "tough champions." This team would look a lot different if we were bigger in the trenches and better in the secondary. If we could get some of those players like Cody Spenser and Taylor Casey, who were like a "heat seeking missle" with a nose for where the ball was going, our pass defense would be dramaticly better. If we were 6-3 to 6-5 and 250+ on the defensive and offensive lines, we would have better running lanes and passing lanes, and getting more pressure on the opposing QB. Right now, we look like shrimp compared to our opponents. We have some weight on the OL and DL, but it looks more like fat than muscle. We have very good skill position players, but we need some more of the "warrior" types on defense and OL. P.S. None of it matters if you can't tackle. The 2000-2004 teams were nasty. They did have the smash-mouth attitude and it won games in the SBC. I would argue that if we had better skill position players to compliment the warriors on those team, we would have picked up a few more OOC wins as well.
  14. I have a hard time believing that the team does not practice tackling. With that said, our tackling is pathetic. Rarely does the first man to the ball make the tackle. We make the opponents job very easy when we turn a 3 yard play into a 12 yard play because it takes 3-4 NT defensive players to tackle the runner.
  15. Any way of getting some details? Did the players quit or were they asked not to come back? This could be a VERY bad thing. Dodge lost several players last year as well. I hope these are just some bad attitudes that are leaving.
  16. Years ago, we used to store the Model A at Weaver Wisdom body shop. At one time, we also had a storage unit in town that could hold the car as well as other Talon "stuff." I know that in from 1990-1997, when I was an active Talon, the car was dependable enough to drive in all parades, games and around town on game day. That car was a blast. We used to drive it up and down the sidelines during the games, horn blaring, with at least one person holding the battle flag. It was such a sight! We even ran over an opposing mascot every now and then. Good Times. The car looks great! I hope that we can see it around town more often.
  17. Nice piece on Casey Fitzgerald. Too bad its on at 1am and no one will see it.
  18. Rick, Do you realize you are about to pass the 10,000 post mark? I think you should throw a party. We could sit around and argue about stupid crap that doesn't mean anything one way or the other. You all should lay off FFR. He has earned the right the be pissed about things if he wants. I cant think of anyone who has been more active on behalf of the Mean Green without recieving a paycheck from the University. We as fans can gripe all we want, but in the end, only two things really matter: 1. Winning football games leads to more fans, more money for the program, more exposure for UNT, and better recruits. 2. A true fan is like a good spouse. You may have your ups and down, but even in disagreements, your faithfulness is never in question. Stick to your guns (or Talons), Rick. Jody Guy '97
  19. Well I guess that means we will be in violation of this rule. We had 5 home games last year and 5 home games this year, that only makes 10. Looks like we are 1 home game short.
  20. Are we ever going to have the same number of Home games as Away games? It stinks having the majority of your games played on the road.
  21. Are we going to get the answer here? You can't brag that you know why and then not let everyone else in on the little secret. It looks like you are showing off.
  22. No way this team goes 0-12. Each week they are getting a little better. Dodge will build on those small accomplishments. These young players will mature this season and get better each week. I know this year has not been what Coach Dodge expected, but he is no dummy. He will get this thing turned around and we will like the result. Take it to the bank.
