Why would you want someone back after he has shown you he has NO loyalty to you, your team or school.

As for all who left thru the portal...

Don't let the door hit you in your ass on the way out.

IMO...Loyalty plays a huge part in success of any endeavor.

I am a big believer that you must look at every case separately and understand why that player entered the portal and how they act(ed) once they entered.

Patience.  Trust them, they got some left I wouldn't be surprised if you see 2 and maybe a couple DL (I'm not sure how many we have left haven't done the math yet and don't know who is on scholly currently on roster)

In his comments yesterday, I believe Morris said there were 5 or 6 scholarships left. Of course, if we get a late hit, they will find a way to make another available.

Am I the only one who has a problem with using the terminology of flipping a player from a lower classification school?

It happens to NT plenty, but I don't see it as a big accomplishment on the surface

Most athletes are going to go for the team in the best conference that they get an offer from.

Not referring to any particular player, but NT flipping a player that was going to the the Southland, WAC, SWAC. etc. is not usually a big achievement.

What it really represents is that NT is taking backup players when they didn't get the players that they originally offered ships, which all schools do.

Before I get a bunch of examples of great recruits that were not highly sought, I certainly realize that often happens.  I also congratulate anyone that gets a scholarship, it is a major accomplishment.

There are a lot of very good players in FCS just take a look at how many hit the portal every year and get picked up by FBS teams. Some of these guys could have been overlooked due to many reasons and if our coaches are doing their due diligence and spot one that they believe can be developed then yes it's still a flip based on the fact that all that means is you just took someone from a team that they had committed to.

If you actually watched the presser you'd see how much it took Bert to coax that out of him. Of course he's trying to get another QB in here. Depth isn't great at the position for one. He doesn't want Stone to leave AGAIN.

With the offensive players that we just signed it might make it a little easier to convince a quarterback to come here and play in Morris's system

I think he really chapped Coach Morris when he left.   Morris brought his transfer up subtly in interviews several times.   He probably knew he wasn't welcomed back.    Sad/petty behavior on both sides, as we could certainly use him.

I'm just speculating, but it seems like with Morris, if you go in the portal and never leave, it's one thing, but if you go in the portal and leave, he doesn't seem to have a warm place for you.

Would take anyone that has been under Carthel as coach, obviously other schools think the same since they have been stealing players and coaches from SFA since Carthel arrived

If someone looked at SFA' past 3 or 4 seasons they would get what your saying.

For these players we're flipping from FCS schools, hopefully the staff if doing a good job projecting their ability to keep progressing and also their ability to add weight.

  7. Could some of these O-linemen (or ones we already have) get moved to the D-line? I'm not going to panic until it is all over, but having had the WORST defense in FBS, I had hoped to see "more" emphasis on the defense. I hate to think of another year of "Air Raid" defense where the thought is you can outscore everyone else (which usually ends up with a .500 record).

He's chasing the NFL. Unfortunately, he didn't realize putting up 4000 yards and 40 TDs at UNT is better than warming the bench elsewhere. He's good enough to start almost anywhere but if Cal lands the former number 1 overall recruit, that guy may win the QB battle on name alone.

He could wind up like Denton's Spence Sanders - Transfer as the starter and sit on the bench. I guess the NIL was more important than playing (hopefully, he had performance clauses and got very little).

P.S. To put the topping on his final season, he's academically ineligible for the bowl game.

Stetson Bennett was in college for the same amount of time and couldn't even finish one degree

I saw somewhere today a Redshirt-Senior in the portal was listed with his major as undecided. Tell me again about the student-athletes.

Thank you for the clarification.  So, it essentially should be called the "Kind of Dead" period.

Just as with tampering P5 schools would not let anything like a dead period get in their way anyway. They have been emboldened by the NCAA to cheat all they want to and not worry about any repercussions

I thought this was the "Dead Period".

The dead period is a time when college coaches can't have in-person contact with prospective student-athletes. However, coaches can still communicate with recruits by phone, text, direct message, or email

I think I saw this from some Texas A&M players that they didn't get paid what they thought they would. Wonder if they did get the gross dollar amount but taxes killed them, if it's what you said, or both.

Probably a combination. I wonder how many players are going to screw up their taxes.
