  1. Is it just me, or is anyone else concerned that in DMN's list of top 100 area players none have committed to North Texsa? I see committments to UTEP,UTSA,La. Tech,New Mexico State,New Mexico,SMU. These are not exactly powerhouses. Is our direction 3a and 4a high schools outside the metroplex, which is about the same road Darrell Dickey took with some success?Just asking wiser heads than me for opinion.
  2. What about the safety that just lost his ride to Washington State? Room for him or not?
  3. Harry, how do you think we look at DT's?
  4. I don't know how many ship's we have left to give ,but I only see one DE and no DT's on list.We sure need to develope a pass rush.
  5. It just pains me too much to watch to watch our mens team. I have 2 floor seats #'s 1 & 2 that are free for the taking. Those available are for 1/24,2/7,2/21/&2/28. Please e-mail me your snail mail adress with order of preference and I will do my best to sort out on a 1st come basis.
  6. I don't know. Replace Tulsa with ULL and it looks like it would work, but it also looks like the Belt with less travel.
  7. With our record,I don't see how we can look down our noses at anyone. I was at the FAU game last year, and if not for a very bad call against them the Owls would have won.
  8. From the outside looking in I see a negative attitude coming from the players. I just can't believe that Mitchell would be scoreless in a game. I don't think the players have bought into Bedford's system[ I don't have a clue what it is],nor like and respect him, hence the number of suspensions.Granted he has had a number of injuries, and inherited no outside shooters, but I think at the end of the day Bedford was a bad hire.Conformation of that will be if you see players transfering out of our program instead of transfering in as they did under Johnny.
  9. Texas wants 10 schools. Texas gets what it wants.
  10. It shows how far down the rabbitt hole we have fallen when we describe Western Division of CUSA as brutal paired with likes of UTEP,UTSA,Rice,So. Miss[0&12 last year] and La. Tech, who graduated a large percentage of their starters.Tulsa is good, but UAB?
  11. You guys are correct. A- State would fill in the gap nicely.Regarding W.K., the MAC has 13 members,7 in East and 6 in West. One of the East members is U.Mass, who could be Big East Bound. Regardless, the Mac had 7 bowl teams last year, and could be a soft landing for the Hilltoppers.I'm afraid the Belt is going the way of the WAC.
  12. In a perfect world I would be happy with North Texas,UTEP,New Mexico State,Rice,UTSA,Texas State,La. Tech,ULL,ULM,and A-State in one conference[i assume Tulsa will join the Big East],with Marshall,MTSU,W.K.,ODU,UNC@C,FAU,FIU,UAB,Troy,&USA in the other. So. Miss could swing either way, depending on whether La. Tech and ULL will play in same conference as ULM. One conference could take the Sun Belt name, the other CUSA,and we could all go on with our lives.
  13. No one but ARMY,BYU, and the Irish can make it as a football independent.
  14. While Cincy and U.Conn want out,I don't see anyone knocking down the door to invite them in. Tulsa will move to Big East, perhaps in 2015 when Navy does. CUSA now looks like an enhanced Sun Belt, with 2 former WAC members,4 former Belt members,3 CUSA holdovers,2 newbies, and a school to be named later, probably W.K. to shore up the east. If so , the the Belt is on life support .
  15. It has been my understanding that UTEP wanted a presence in DFW and Houston to reach more alumni, and that UTSA was an added bonus. While UNT is not SMU,nor Rice the University of Houston, neither is The University of Texas at El Paso The University of Texas at Austin.
  16. UTEP has no place to go as MWC plans to stay at 12 schools. If that number changes, which based upon MWC's history it won't,then The Miners would get a look.CUSA needs strength in the East at this point, hence my vote for W.K.
  17. Houston going to stay the course with Big East. Their Western division could look somrthing tile this: Houston,SMU,Tulsa,Tulane, Memphis,USF,UCF. Eastern division: Cincy,U.Con,ECU,U.Mass,Temple,Navy,and player to be named later,Or just move UCF east, forget either Navy or U.Mass, and have a 12 team league.
  18. CUSA has 4 Texas schools, and doesn't want any more.Even if SDSU goes to Big East and UTEP takes their place in MWC, Texas State has no chance of getting in.[ I am assuming that Tulas is gone]. As of now,the CUSA/EAST is a joke. WKU would be a chance to shore it up,but CUSA should move fast as if I am WK and Marshall the MAC looks pretty good right now.Choice #2 is A-State, as they are in a good geographical location as regards MTSU,So.Miss.,and La. Tech. 3rd and last choice is ULL. How many schools from Louisiana do you really need? In fact, how many schools does CUSA want or need, which is not the same thing.12?14?16? The changes mentioned is this and other posts should take shape on or by 1/31,which is when SDSU's get out of jail card expires.
  19. If they have rap music on video highlighting players like they did last year, count me out. It was very loud and hard on the ears.
  20. Since my freshman year of 1961 we have had a total of 20 winning seasons,1 break even year, and 30 with losing records, so forget the thought that we have a history of winning. We don't. We have a history of losing. The problem lays at the feet of Administration. J.C. Mathews refused to support establishment of an athletic alumni association. Jitter Nolan did when Hayden Fry was on board, but was transfering money illegally out of the Foundation Board's resourses to fund athletics and was fired.[i served on this board for 3 years in early 90's] A group of Dallas businessmen[i was one] offered to hire Abner Haynes,[who accepted the offer] to raise money for athletics, but Frank Vandiver[sic?] refused to recognize us so that contributions would be tax deductable so that effort died.Al Hurley had bigger fish to fry,and athletics was not one of them. The last 3 presidents have recognized that a successful athletic program is a window into The University, which gets us to where we are today. The missed opportunities of 70's after Fry's departure continue to haunt us.
