  1. I wouldn't mind having the guy as a fullback in short yardage situations when healthy. Of course I have no idea if he could fill that role since we've seen so little of him, but we could really use a hardnosed guy out there with some athleticism to help get us those short yards.
  2. If we're smaller than the average D1 team, then I guess we need to hire an accounting firm to come in and get these numbers right. In all seriousness, we do seem to have been overpowered in the trenches against everyone we've lost to.
  3. BigBirds 31 BullChips 28 I think our aerial game comes through and helps Wilson get back on track while our D stiffens up when it counts.
  4. I had Golden Chicks for the first time today and thought they beat both. Uh oh, not another chicken thread. If Rice had more than a few hundred fans I would like to call them a rival, but it is what it is, and I doubt that anyone other than Houston will ever be a rival of theirs. Unless maybe they get back in a conference with Tulane.
  5. We're still right in it for a bowl berth, but I have to admit that it will be an uphill battle if we can't pull this off on Saturday.
  6. I just hate the freaking shotgun in crucial short yardage situations. Too much time for the defense to react.
  7. Channel 21 would be great sometime in the near future, but I sure wish we could do something about our radio situation. We have quite a few recruits south of I-20 in both FB and BB, and I could barely pick up the Army game in my car just south of 1-20 in Arlington last Saturday. 95.3 just seems to be a weaker overlap of 88.1. I remember not long ago when I could pick up our games in East Texas and on I-45 halfway to Houston. I guess that was from our old Longview affiliate.
  8. It's getting to be like winning the lottery yearly.
  9. Exactly. And those stinkin' sauces. They tasted like something that washed up out of a fracking zone. To add insult to injury, they locked us out on the patio well before closing time, and we couldn't even get back in to get any napkins or water to wash the taste out of our mouths. We settled for some wine at the local grocery store which also helped us forget about the experience for awhile. They should cater to the prison system to reduce recidivism.
  10. I guess we can gauge how much of a rival they are by the number of us who show up in green on Saturday. If only a very few hundred of us show for this driveable conference game, then I don't think that we're really quite rivals yet. Especially since we're currently in the midst of an upswing.
  11. There were only two people in the Tropical we went to in the Mid-Cities off of 183 a few weeks ago, so maybe that's why their food was so horrible. I learned long ago not to venture into empty restaurants if you want fresh food, but I guess we were just really hungry for pollo and screwed up. Someone mentioned El Pollo Regio earlier, and that pollo is definitely muy bueno. I guess someone needs to open up a San Antonio food thread, cuz I'm getting really hungry for some good Mexicano food.
  12. Good to hear. I went there once and thought the chicken tasted like roadrunner, and everything else (including the help) was equally roadrunnerish. I just trashed those nasty black beans and stale rolls.
  13. I agree with that mindset completely. I know I'm an optimist, but conference championships, and slipping into the top 25 are my short-term goals. A bowl berth is just the gravy that comes along with those things. Hey, at least I didn't mention a national championship run. At least not yet (lol).
  14. This ingrained negative crap has got to stop. We've lost to a team that just blew out Houston, a team that just beat Missouri, and Florida. They're all winnable from here on out.
  15. Just glancing over the national scores, there looks to be A LOT of teams this season that are likely to be bowl eligible. I realize that there are a multitude of bowl spots available, but I think we should go ahead and shoot for 7+ with the apparent parity this year. #hitseven?
  16. Too bad the board wasn't right when we worried about Lubbock swooping in and stealing our BB coach away. If we go 11-3 we can start worrying.
  17. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I only predicted us to win 31-21, so I guess I have to walk away in shame. But seriously, I expect this to continue, because our Mean Green D is very special, and I truly expect that our O is in the process of following right behind. Great win for this program, and an incredible job for J. Wilson once again. Great day for Mean Greeners!!
  19. Syracuse's record was 49-85 from '05-'15, including 3 minor bowl games and several close calls against FCS teams. I just don't see them as a powerhouse to be avoided at home.
  20. I'm all for bringing in Syracuse. Considering our youth in many important areas, I see us as being much improved next year, and a win over them would be a serious national feather in our cap. I really don't see how a loss would have a huge negative impact on us at all. Also, there are quite a few New Yorkers in the DFW area, and their program has a very good overall history and following. Since the Alabama-type programs of the world won't be coming here any time soon, I think we should schedule all of the P5's in the world that are willing to show up at Apogee. Bring 'em on.
  21. Hopefully being around 50 degrees at kickoff will be refreshing for our guys. Since Fine hasn't showed a huge vertical game thus far, maybe 20MPH winds might not affect our game too badly. Our OL could have to go a little Mac power game retro.
