  1. Nope, I hope I can insert my first link. Moon Phases
  2. The recap on Yahoo sports mentioned that the Stanford backup quarterback, I can't remember his name right now, (the starter got sick midweek) is a nephew of Jack Thompson, famed as the "Throwing Samoan" at Washington State a few years back...this looks like another good year for those with Polynesian roots playing college football. I think we'll see some lined up against us when we play Navy.
  3. Couldn't all the "Fire Mendoza" threads at least just be combined into one? It's not like each one sounds incredibly original.
  4. Well said; unfortunately i passed throught puberty a few decades ago, and hope I've matured enough to justify carrying so many years around. I hope I don't seem like to much of a copycat for also making Euless part of my nickname; I DO want to promote the concept of a Euless Trinity to North Texas recruiting pipeline, but hope to do so in a positive way. And I DO, appreciate Dodge (and coach Lineweaver at Trinity publicly mentioned this) for opening up North Texas to so many area recruits. Marcus King and Jordan Scoggins in the 2007 recruiting class are prime examples of Trinity Trojans who will contribute big in the future. I'll tell you that I also disagree with the posters that I see as promoting disrespect for a coaching staff that needs support rather than disparagement. I actually wished for a while that North Texas would try to hire Coach Lineweaver from Trinity before they hired Dodge, but everything worked out for the best. Both institutions, of which I consider myself a proud and loyal supporter, have the best coaches they could have gotten, and need to keep and support them as best they can. My positives: 1. Vizza delivered as promised; now we know who our quarterback for the foreseeable future is. 2. Our running game has been improving. 3. The defense has been creating more turnovers as the season progresses; the offense needs to create points from them. 4. Special teams has improved in some ways. 5. Dodge has been a coach whose teams have struggled in early years, but developed into BIG winners given 2 or 3 years; let's keep our eyes on that prize.
  5. Can he teach geography? That's a really important subject (I'm a UNT geography graduate, 1977). Still, I think, more outside speed on defense!
  6. Well, we seem really vulnerable to the running quarterback, as well as to the big plays in general. Are we lacking speed on by the DT's and OLB's, or is it all just the schemes?
  7. I'm guessing the 3 missed short fga's and the missed extra point may have caused Dodge not to attempt others. I think the LaLa kicker made all his extra points and a field goal.
  8. I'm not sure much can be done about it this year, but, I think at least one scholarship should be used on the best high school kicking recruit we can sign. My candidate: Euless Trinity (of course) kicker Perry Negreiros. I've never known of him to miss an extra point; last week he kicked a field goal of over 50 yds.
  9. Time to create a distraction? Look for my "Where can we find a good kicker thread, opening at a forum near you soon.
  10. I haven't opened the bottle of wine I just brought home, so liquor can't explain it. Isn't Dickey falling into a free trip to a buttkicking in Hawaii shortly?
  11. I don't know, but they can be easily recognized as such.
  12. I have to admire FAU for never giving up...too bad the 2 pt conversion didn't work, but 1 point wouldn't have helped.
  13. I was just thinking the same thing, although I think 2 of the early 3 missed FGA's were pretty short. The kicking is one part of FAU's game I find suspect; not just field goals, but also kickoffs. I'm wondering how much effect the rule change concerning kickoffs has played so far this year...I bet teams put a lot more effort into the kicking game this next off season. Just my opinion, but I think UNT needs to pay a LOT more attention to special teams play.
  14. There's a line in a Dylan song where "They kill him with self confidence". Maybe that's how we started the OU demise.
  15. I'm just wondering, since FAU is hanging in there with 6th ranked USF, have there been any SBC teams ranked in the top 25?
  16. North Texas fans begin praying in their designated tailgate area upon arrival in Lafayette, as they all begin realizing that LaLa has played respectable Troy and ranked South Carolina close, and has a running game that matches up well against the NT defense. However, LaLa can't cover NT, which completes passes as often as any NT QB/receiver combination can find each other, scoring last on a Vizza to Meager flea flicker. NT is up late 4th quarter 41 to 35, having missed a 2 pt conversion attempt. LaLa, which already has 350 yards combined rushing, mostly behind lead blocking by the previously reported "injured" tackle, drives the length of the field to tie at 41-41 with less than a minute left. The tackle suddenly remembers he's injured, misses his blocking assignment, and A.J. Penson blocks the attempted extra point kick, scoops up the ball, returning it the length of the field for a 2 point touchdown as time expires. North Texas takes its first win of the year 43-41. Forgetting promises of repentance in the tailgate/revival tent earlier, NT fans pool their resources, rent hotel space, and party as late as Louisiana liquor stores stay open.
  17. Could you tell me more about this "Blue Dog's"? Uh, never mind!
  18. Hey, that's less than 2 months no matter how you look at it! Ok, my last question, since we've gotten MORE than ten: If we win at LaLa, and are 1-1 in conference, WILL ALL QUARTERBACKS AND D COODINATORS BE FORGIVEN FOR ONE WEEK?
  19. Hey, if I can't figure out how to delete this thread, please do so Illuvius...I must say though, KingDL1 and NCMEANGREEN did have me in stitches.
  20. I just thought this might be fun; I don't have the time to come up with ten right now, but one of mine will be" Have we hit rock bottom?
  21. What are our good matchups against LaLa?
  22. Evyn (is anyone going to correct the spelling on this thread title?), at least has been spoken well of by the North Texas radio announcers for hitting hard (and making the tackle). Who else on defense fits that description?
  23. I have to agree, based on the Euless Trinity/SLC playoff game last year, which turned out to be a defensive struggle between two otherwise very high scoring (and widely recognized) offenses, 22-21. It really wasn't a very impressive game by the SLC offense; their offensive line was having a hard time protecting Riley Dodge, who may have received a concussion during the game. It probably is true that SLC only won because of a coaching mistake-an easily read fake punt by Trinity, in the last few minutes of the game. Both defensive units were outstanding in that game; I wish North Texas could have signed Trinity's Youri Yenga, rated as best defensive player in the state by some (signed by SMU). I don't think I've seen a more athletic hit on a quarterback than the one he delivered on Dodge by leaping over the SLC offensive line. Still, for the SLC defense to hold that Trinity offense the way they did for most of that game was no small achievement.
