  1. Article From the NT Daily: The NT soccer team scored three goals in the second half to rally past Middle Tennessee Thursday in the Sun Belt Conference semifinals. The Mean Green (15-4-2) trailed 1-0 at halftime after allowing Middle Tennessee's Kala Morgan to score with just one minute remaining in the first half before its comeback. "It was a very exciting game," said junior midfielder Dani Slavonic. "To come back from being down like we did, I'm so proud of our team." Sophomore midfielder Brittany Cleveland started NT's rally with a goal in the 52nd minute of play. Freshman midfielder Kendall Juett broke the tie three minutes later with her third goal of the tournament. Cleveland then iced the game with her second goal of the contest with 33 seconds remaining. "The players came out and played one of our better second halves of the season," said NT head coach John Hedlund. "I was excited how everyone picked up their game. We took it to them." The win marked the first time the Mean Green has beaten the Blue Raiders since the 2003 season. "It feels good [to beat them]," Hedlund said. "When we lost to them at our place this year, I thought it was probably one of my worst losses since I've been at North Texas." NT held a narrow edge in shots at 16-13 and contained the third-highest scoring offense in the nation throughout the game. Next up for NT is Denver, the only other team to beat the Mean Green in conference play this season. The Pioneers defeated the Mean Green 2-0 on Oct. 27 under harsh conditions. "I like the fact it is a neutral place[at Louisiana-Lafayette]," Hedlund said. " I think they have the biggest homefield advantage in the conference, dealing with the altitude and weather. It will go back and forth, but I like our chances." The Pioneers and the Mean Green have combined to win the last five conference tournaments, and this is the seventh consecutive year NT has reached the final. "I think we just need to play our game," Slavonic said. "We played defensively last game and hopefully we can go at them and get some goals and play the way we've been playing lately."
  2. I'll be there with my family of 4. I'm bringing another family of 3 for their first game. PLEASE SHOW UP. Anybody think there'll be HS recruits there?
  3. I'm still hoping for a decent turnout. I'm bringing my family of 4 and 3 more to their first game. If you're on the fence about going, PLEASE go ahead and go. The atmosphere of the game is what WE can control even if the product on the field is not as good as in years past. Plus someone posted that we're picked to win by a couple points. For a game we're picked to win, against a Team that everyone has heard of, we ought to have a good crowd. Come help me control the atmosphere......with the help of Beerman and free Beer.
  4. Could they keep him on with the University in a different capacity?
  5. The company I work for will pay for us to go to Law School to get our JD. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else, I just hope the get it done in the next few years.
  6. Evil will always triumph over Good, because Good.......is dumb.
  7. He's already a commitment? Or just a recruit?
  8. Just saw the highlights. That fight was NUTS. That guy swinging the helmet should at least be kicked from the team, plus the guy stomping on the FIU players. Good grief!
  9. I went to the Jr. Mean Green Club authograph session last night with my 4 year old daughter. It was a really cool event. The players were all awesome and appreciative of our support. A couple even remembered her name and said Hi every time she walked by. Coach Dickey came out and introduced himself as the head coach and the one everyone is usually boo-ing. He also said he loved the Jr Mean Green Club because the kids are to young to boo and second guess his plays. I thought it was pretty funny.
  10. In my best Cartman voice (Southpark): "Yeah, Screw those guys!"
  11. Let's hope with 2 weeks they can pick a QB and let him run the offense EVERY DAY in practice. Good grief I'm tired of the rotation!
  12. How is Denver 4 spots ahead of us? Didn't we beat them last year? Don't we have the same number of wins?
  13. With no Football this week, the university should really make a push to try to get a big crowd at the next game. GMG!!!
  14. I'm happy that we won. I'm Not happy with the win. Everyone knows that this year is probably a total loss. Our offense didn't produce much tonight....AGAIN. But it still goes down as a W. There won't be an asterix in the record book that yes it was a Win, but they did it against an 0-5 FIU team, so it should count less. THERE WILL BE NO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR FOR UNT!!!!! We have too many losses at this point. Now that we have that out of the way, lets support our team and quit with the negativity after a win. Wait until our next loss, then come on the board and talk about how bad we are. I sat on the Student Side again with my family, and I'm VERY encouraged with the number of students still showing up after a 1-4 start. A win will help keep those students coming back. Maybe we'll have a decent crowd against La Tech?
  15. God Bless "The Mighty" Johnny Quinn! Makes a Hooligan PROUD!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I think the family and I will head up about Noon. What time is everyone else getting there? Even if the team's not doing well, the tailgating is worth the trip! PS - I think that the Talon crew should set up Boomer and fire it off every 30 minutes starting around 1 or 2pm, and going to kick off, to let EVERYONE within hearing distance know that something is going on over at Fouts. GMG!!!
  17. When are those games against Denver and MTSU? How are the crowds at the Home Games?
