  1. Ehh, coach speak is his typical “We need to play better in all three phases” “One day at a time” “One percent better every day” type stuff. He doesn’t say we need to play really well to have a chance about UTEP, Rice, Charlotte, and etc. Just my take though
  2. Really? My take was the opposite. He said something to the extent of “We’re going to have to play really wel for us to have a chance” (paraphrasing of course) To me, it signals that he doesn’t have much confidence
  3. Wren is fantastic. I’m a newer fan and alumni (graduated in 2019) and have supported the program since 2016. It will be a while before UNT reaps the rewards from this administration, but the growth over the last 5 years has been insane especially with creating new fans. We will eventually get where we need to go, especially if Wren is here. As stated above, we just need to keep showing up as a fanbase regardless.
  4. SMU: 52 UNT: 17 I’ve never hoped that I was more wrong heading into Saturday. If we get beat by 30+ points you’ll see our fanbase notch up the pressure on Seth
  5. I would love to see us be the instigators for once. If we somehow win the game, it would be awesome if we get a billboard in downtown Dallas with something like “Dallas’ team” with a UNT player on the front. One can dream though.
  6. I just posted about this too! Seth has gradually lost me over the last couple of years with the lack of progression as a program. I’m hoping he can turn around the program, but we were hoping for the same exact thing 5 years ago. Our goals for on field performance really haven’t changed all too much. We hope that we can compete with some of the better teams in the conference and compete for a bowl game. I hope I look stupid in the next few weeks once the season begins to take shape
  7. This is year 6 of Seth and we are right back where we were in 2016. “Hopefully we make a bowl game” status, while UTSA and SMU continue to progress as programs. I don’t care who we have, we should be competing for the Conference Championship year-in and year-out. With Seth, I think that is unlikely this year. Before I get downvoted, I was a Seth defender until last year. I hope I look like an idiot in the next few weeks.
  8. I agree. The team is young with only 9 seniors according to the official roster. This season reminds me a lot of 2016 with the hope that we can produce similar and/or better results like we did in 2017 and 2018
  9. After letting last night digest and settle, I’m less optimistic about our performance than previously thought. More so about our offense. I think the defense showed promise. There were some things to clean up for sure, but overall we gave up 14 points. The last two years we gave up 31 points to FCS schools. Yeah we gave up like 200+ rushing yards, but we also gave up 170 rushing yards against Lamar in 2018, the best defense we’ve had under Littrell. There will always be something to work on no matter who we play, but overall the defense looked to be drastically improved in many fundamental areas. The offense on the other hand is very worrying to me. Bloesch is a first time Offense Coordinator at the FBS level and it showed last night. The running game was great, but it didn’t look like the Littrell Air Raid System we’ve grown accustomed to seeing over the last 5-6 years. The short passing game was solid, but there were no roll out bombs and very few deep shots. When we did go deep, it looked disjointed. My question is, was this the game-plan to call more conservative plays and stick to the surface level of the playbook? Or was Littrell/Bloesch not wanting to give SMU anything? I’m hoping for the latter, but overall I’m really concerned with offense.
  10. So basically the offense was worse than they looked last night due to lack of execution? That’s what I get from this. Anybody else?
  11. UNT is coming off two 4 win seasons. SMU is coming off two years where they were ranked in the top 25 sometime during the season. The anticipation is high for SMU and not so much for UNT. The answer to your question is SMU.
  12. ACU started a Freshman QB as well. Definitely some hope for next week. Do I expect to win? No. Do I expect us to make the game competitive? Yes. However, Seth usually has us blown out against SMU by halftime so we’ll see.
  13. Makes sense for SMU last night. Sonny Dykes has said this is his most talented team he’s had so far. With the addition of Mordecai and highly ranked Freshman Preston Stone, there’s a lot of anticipation with that program right now. Tough matchup for us, but SMU is not unbeatable by any means.
  14. 18,716 people officially for attendance tonight. That seemed pretty accurate from looking at it. Student section was pretty decent and the alumni die hards showed up. Not bad for this game. I am hoping the Covid situation gets better and we can draw around 20k+ for the UAB game.
  15. What are the guesses for attendance today? I’m guessing more conservative around 20,000, but I could see us hitting 22,000-23,000
  16. In Wren we trust. New facilities, overall better performance from athletics, better marketing exposure, and increased attendance across all sports puts us in a good spot to make our case for any conference. I don’t think we are automatically written off from the AAC because of geographic location. This isn’t college football of 10 years ago where it was all about markets. It’s now all about what program can immediately bring in the most money or has the potential to bring in the most money. I think we can make a case for the latter. Now I don’t think we are automatically written off, but I do think we will not get an invite. AAC lost some heavy hitters and they will look to replace them by raiding CUSA and potentially the Sunbelt (unless they all stick together). However, I’m hoping Wren can work his magic to get us in the best conference possible.
  17. Do we know how many scholarship players we have on the roster? I know around 2016 we had only 55/85 players that had scholarships. I think we're much closer to the 85 scholarship player limit.
  18. I'd be sick if UTSA got into the AAC when their program is less than a decade old.
  19. The point of this forum are these quotes exactly. I have no idea what Billboards cost, but why can’t we (the fans/alumni) do something similar?
  20. A certain team has posted their logo outside of our stadium again. The fact they have done it to us the last several years in Denton is quite frustrating. I’m to the point that I’m willing to contribute some money to Wren or the alumni group to stop having other teams do this, regardless of which team it is. It’s embarrassing.
  21. I weirdly feel good about this year. Seth has his best coaching staff since he’s been here. Mike Bloesch at OL, Phil Bennett at DC( heard nothing but good things so far) and himself, a proven Power 5 OC. He’s never had a decent OL coach and a decent DC since his tenure began. Hopefully this is the year. Last year after facing HBU, I knew the defense was garbage. I’m thinking we take a step forward this year and go 7-6. Who the hell knows though, I might just have my mean green glasses on.
  22. Yes, easily. You want to put This program on the map? Three things happen. 1. Briles continues to do shady stuff and the program takes a significant step back from 113th best in the nation to 132nd. NCAA doesn’t care because we’re North Texas. 2. Briles isn’t as successful as we thought and we go from 113th to 132nd 3. Briles achieves massive success and we build a juggernaut of a program shooting into the top 50 programs in the nation Either way its a risk I would be willing to take with a lot of oversight. Now go ahead and downvote me.
