I'm not sure if anyone here has ever stumbled upon this... but as I was looking for old clips of NT Football, I came across this recap of the 1998 game vs Oklahoma... and of course if you look in the sideline, its none other than Seth Littrell watching/ playing against the team he would coach in the future!

Mean Green Productions has been filming quite a bit recently... I'm hoping that's the sign that Beyond The Green might return

Most of the time yes, although at NT I noticed they use the regular game helmets for practice just without decals and at times even with the decals (based off my knowledge, I could be wrong).... so it's really up in the air! Although those are new helmets, I wouldn't be surprised that the game helmets are also new if it were that case

In fact those are new helmets!!!! I like the darker shade of green, not exactly 100% Kelly but also it's not Forest green either! I'm excited to see if there'll be any helmet decal changes as well

As Brett posted above, WB is getting all the teams on a contract with Nike... I don't think any of the teams were wearing UA recently but since coming back home for summer I remember that they were still selling UA polos, fitness shirts and shorts... not sure about now! Looking at the Media Day footage you can tell that there is a new nike polo they have on, and I'm sure there's more, I sure do like those polos! So let's just wait and see what's going on... I honestly like this Nike shift, hopefully the Nike gear in the stores get cheaper though *fingers crossed* 😂

Marshall just showed off their new uni's (slight changes from their previous ones) and their different combos... So I wouldn't be surprised if we get an announcement soon

Attendance is one thing I discuss with friends you have to put in count that Texas is a state where football is practically a religion, and the whole mentality is that Texans only follow a team that wins. I believe that around 80%, theres factors as well such as loyalty, and those who watch the games for fun... I feel that this past season saw some larger crowds which new coaching helped with that. The thing I also notice is the conference in general, as much as I like Conference USA, we can all agree that their media deals, even though much better than the other group of 5 conferences, is still weak compared to those of the Power 5... You have to put in count that the bigger conferences tend to have larger followings and the name of the schools get more publicity to that of group of five. So that is, what I believe, to be one of the biggest factors. Although i enjoy that BeIN is now in contract with the conference, and it is a sports station that is up and coming and popular already to soccer fans. As well as the ESPN 3 deal which could be an easy stepping stone to reaching the major ESPN outlets (ESPN, 2, and U)

I always wondered why Softball only used Russell and Golf used Adidas! I know supposedly its because it would be cheaper for the teams individually

I was just about to post this! I like "It's Christmas" part, and I know Nike usually sends in all their stuff at the same time, so I'm sure with the whole "Christmas" add on it could also refer to more than just the cleats ;)

I know the basketball teams have been using Apogee for work outs... for all i know summer/fall practices start end of July, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the football players were out just for a workout

Excited that it started, I worked at the Pit last semester (Planning on continuing once classes start again) and of course I heard from staff and friends who worked prior that the restrooms were going to be updated and the whole office thing etc. I feel like there will be things done in the basement like some renovations but that's still something i don't know of... can't wait for these changes... i know athletics and the board have been striving to modernize the Pit!

So the new UCLA jerseys were accidentally leaked by Under Armor, and this sparked my mind wondering when are we going to get that new uniform announcement. I know there has been talks especially from a recent post that there will be new uniforms for the upcoming season. I'm hoping it's sometime later this month, I know it's a great recruiting tool and as a student and fan I'm really looking forward to seeing what the Mean Green will don next!

I visit Eagle Point a lot, and I always walk passed Apogee... The store staff will only let you go get water/ go to the restroom from their back door, but there has been times that whenever I pass by either the Bus/Truck ramp gate is open (There is usually staff there so its probably a no go to enter) and at times the gate next to the Athletics Center is open leading to the stairs that go down to the field. Now of course, I'm not 100% sure if people are allowed to enter, I'd go ahead and shoot an email to those in charge (i.e Athletics, Staff at Apogee) to go ahead and see if you'd be able to go and work out... Honestly I would! But go ahead and reach out!

I like the idea of the food trucks or even the visitors tailgate... As far as the whole basketball arena talk, I know they are going to be renovating the Coliseum in order to modernize it, so if they were to construct a new basketball arena it wouldn't be anytime soon. But I do see a ton of possibilities coming soon for that land... hopefully the Mean Green Village expands a ton in the future!

Pearson looks like he could bring something to the team, looking back at his tapes as well as his performance during the spring game, I really liked the arm on him! Will he be starting in a game this season? Hard to tell, but if he does eventually play in a game during the upcoming season, then I believe he can make a name for himself! All in all, if I were to name an overall "Breakout Player", I'd choose English! Can't wait to see him start! Also, on the side note, I feel like McClain and Wilson will breakout in their own ways this season in order to show more of their potential for the NFL

They have, but they had them available only at the Coaches Caravans! They did not have them available to students until the day of the "Graduation Block Party", and I missed the table right as they put everything away. I also know that they are handing them out at the new student orientations. This is coming from a current student's viewpoint, so I have no say about the whole Alumni Association deal... But I thought I'd let you know that they currently exist, and as far as I've seen they're really nice!

I'd add the Rice game from this past season... Even though Rice at the time were winless, and it may have seemed like an "easy" win, I believe this game is what proved a lot of analysts wrong based off their judgments of NT. Not only were we trailing 17-0 in the second quarter, we managed to not only take a lead and make memorable plays, but also secure our first conference win and first away game win in two years. It may not have been perfect, but for someone who was present at the game it really made me realize that this renewed team was different, and i liked what i saw.

I have a feeling that the chrome helmet design will now be the main design for the future helmets. I know many have liked the idea of having just the wings on the helmet similar to what oregon has done before, and honestly it looks pretty good on the chrome, hopefully it'll do the same with the green, white and maybe black helmets. As far as the jerseys, I actually like the jerseys worn the past two years, but i do think they can be ruined if used in the wrong combination... im all for the green uni's with the white/ chrome helmets, and the white uni's with the white/green helmet... black i think only goes with black pants with the green uni's and sometimes the white uni's. Can't wait to see the new ones!!!

As a Talon I'm excited that the Battle Flag was chosen... Rick I'm sure that you're excited as well!!... here's to hoping that ours still remains the largest 😂, and if not... hopefully we're the protectors of the new flag along with the beauty we already have! 😁

I know this may seem random, but does anyone have detail/ information onto why the Softball team uses Russell Athletic instead of Nike for their jerseys? I know that the other equipment (cleats/ batting gloves) are Nike, and I do know for sure that Nike does make Softball jerseys. So does anyone have any information? I think the Russell uniforms look great, especially the more "vintage" looks to them, but I just wonder why they don't use Nike...

I do support the idea for the student section to get fired up, I know for us Talons and even the Green Brigade they tell us to avoid this more so to show more courtesy with the name of the University (Especially for being such big groups) for us its not that we want to abolish the student section from saying it, but more so to encourage the idea of being a more clean act. I do respect your opinion 100%, just giving a somewhat insider on to why it is something we address.

Yes! This issue is something that Talons takes very seriously into consideration, it is something we all avoid collectively. There are times we say "That Spells" to replace "M'fing" so that it could distraught groups who say it, but in general we make sure to void from that problem... A solution another Talon brought up, was for all of us to start saying "Let's Go". I did not mind 100% of the time, for I do like see what few have to say. But like you stated, I did start this as an invitation for the Alumni event, although just to get this set in stone, there are some new changes coming soon as well as maybe implementing older traditions, etc. But thank you letsgiveacheer, I appreciate your defense, and I think discussions about different implementations could be put into a different thread at some other time. I will communicate with our Exec. Board about a few things this week and I'll be back on different subjects.
