  1. This. I’m pretty sure the Mean Green Club was just a name that belonged to UNT and wasn’t a separate entity anyway. I don’t think the change in names had anything to do with tax laws or anything. It was just a preference of AD staff to use a new name.
  2. It’s on the first page of this thread North Texas Football Staff Tracker
  3. I wish this article compared the prior staff $’s to this. I may be wrong, but I’m betting $1.1M for non-coaching staff is a significant bump.
  4. Some of you get your feelings hurt so easily. If you already buy season tickets and donate to the department, that part of his speech isn’t directed at you. If you don’t, well… he’s not wrong! Get on board. They can’t keep investing in facilities and quality coaches without $’s coming in. It’s sad to see how far our support lags compared to our peers.
  5. I’m assuming that revenue is already in the operating budget. They’d have to get more than $1M per year to have any “extra” money.
  6. I love mixing things up. I can't imagine a more dynamic change to go from Bennett to Caponi, and I think that's awesome! It's time to change some things up on defense here at UNT.
  7. This is cool. I want as many former UNT assistants to become P5 coaches as possible. It helps the brand!
  8. I’m honestly just asking. Why does it matter? Recruiting is a team effort amongst all the coaches on any given staff. I would think it’s very rare that a player commits because of a single coach. For me, let’s just go get a baller who can light up some scoreboards right here in Denton!
  9. I’m going to rephrase the Hedlund discussion into a football question. If Morris wins the AAC several years in a row and loses to Number 1 seed Georgia or Alabama in the first round of the new expanded playoffs each year, would you fire him?
  10. Even in his "down years," Hedlund has his team in the top 2 in our conference. I'm ready to see where they land in the AAC. Until then, he's my guy. Soccer's so different than a lot of other sports where a CUSA champ is almost always going to visit the Big XII or SEC's very best (usually a top 10 type of program) in the first round of the post-season. We'll see what kind of draw the new AAC can manage to get.
  11. I don’t care if he was the main recruiter of Mahomes or only ever waved to him on the sidelines. I just want him to go out and get us a QB who can find the open receiver and hit him in stride. I watched a video earlier where he talked about his goal is to score touchdowns, not make first downs. That’s what I love to hear from a coach. Let’s go light up some scoreboards!
  12. What’s the deal with people wanting a ticket trailer? Students in 2022 can go online to claim a ticket. It’s not hard. You just have to give them a reason to want to come to the game and make Apogee the place to be. If you’re going to ditch the online system, the only thing I’d support would be to just scan an id at the gate and walk in, but going back to standing in a line to get a ticket? Come on, man.
  13. For me, it’s less about the quality and more about the frequency and timing I think they could work on.
  14. Let's package it with the new basketball arena!
  15. I feel like the AC expansion could even be done in phases. Phase 1- Expand the AC toward the field into that "drive." that could easily be removed. With that expansion, the lower level would be an expanded/completely renovated locker room/equipment room, the next level (where the deck is now) is an expanded weight/training room, new covered deck/endzone club level goes above the weight room expansion, and old scoreboard goes away and a new larger scoreboard goes over the new deck/endzone club level. Phase 2- Not sure where they would add it, but that phase would be the new offices for administration. I guess you expand toward the practice fields/indoor facility. I feel like breaking into phases lets you get the most important parts (locker room/weight/training rooms) knocked out sooner than later.
  16. I think a new basketball arena goes hand in hand with number 6 on your list. Also, Baseball should move way down on the priority list.
  17. This. At this point it’s probably not even signed yet. Pretty sure it has to go through the pres and BOR. They probably signed some kind of letter with parameters for the contract. Not sure how long they get to release that, assuming the media has already filed appropriate requests to get it.
  18. I like this hire for one main reason. This job is better than it was before SL got here. Morris is from the same kind of mold as SL, so I see opportunity for him to continue to build on that. With the right coaches, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, I think he is a good choice to build vs. re-build. For the first time since I've followed this program, a coach is not starting from rock-bottom.
  19. “Give me your best pitch on why I should bring my talents to UNT.”
  20. Good grief... At least let an official announcement come out before you get out the pitchforks...
  21. Plot twist... Maybe he was never on the actual list.
  22. Since none of these on this list, outside of Fuente/Riley, really have much name recognition, I think it's going to be all about the coordinators they hire to determine how excited I would be about this hire.
