  1. If you read this article, they discuss the ACC as well: https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/35698175/college-football-realignment-latest-chatter-pac-12-beyond The problem is the current agreement goes through 2036 and with the mix of small private schools and big public schools, not everybody's needs are the same. Here's part of it regarding the ACC from the ESPN article: "Just how binding are the grants of rights? School after school has gone to league headquarters to study them, so if there were an easy way out, some smart lawyer would have found it by now. (The ACC, like most leagues, doesn't allow copies of the television contracts and grants of rights out of the building, which protects the contracts from FOIA requests.) The essence of an ACC escape is that it would cost more than $100 million to leave and the schools would still need legal wangling to get access to their own games' TV money for more than a decade. That's significant risk -- but there's also plenty of risk for the high-profile schools of falling hundreds of millions behind national competitors. "Different lawyers have different opinions," an industry source said. "Eventually someone will take the leap. You'd assume that others would follow right behind." As usual in college athletics, the lawyers would be sure to cash in. The only certainty from any type of attempted breakup or breakaway would be billable hours. "If you are going to try and get out of the grant of rights, you better have a war chest," an industry source said. "You're going to need it to pay legal fees."'
  2. Wish they'd make it a point to get Perry involved early. He tends to find his shot later in the game but would really be good to get him in a rythm early. There was such little fight late in the game. I recall offensive possessions where guys weren't fighting for offensive rebounds or doing much at all. Like you said, just standing around. Against UTEP you'd see Sissoko obstructing defenders when somebody was driving to the basket but it doesn't appear Ousmane does that. Not much impact unless he has the ball or has a favorable match-up down low. Would have liked to see Sissoko in more yesterday.
  3. We can't afford to keep having our uniforms stolen in Ruston. Hard no for me. I realize this is the football forum but I'd invite New Mexico over UTEP. They've got a solid basketball program. They're also not too far away from the AAC Texas schools so I think it could work. If we're going to add a school, they should be strong in at least one of the two major sports. There's several MWC schools that I'd love to be in a conference with but with the current landscape of the AAC, you're looking at some long distance road trips for Navy, Temple, and the rest of the east coast schools. Edit: upon further review, I've misread the UTEP comments in this thread. Still, if the AAC is to expand more, I'd love a UNM to solidify the basketball side of the conference.
  4. They were doubling him often, even with Khalifa. Seemed their game plan was to make it as hard for him as possible to get the ball and it worked. Like @CMJsaid, he was also in foul trouble. If I recall correctly, he was subbed in at about the 12 minute mark of the second half and the Charlotte broadcast said he'd been on the bench for the previous 6 minutes.
  5. I don't think they're that high but they do have our conference's strongest OOC win against #24 Boise State. They're not a bad team.
  6. Can you share the video? I haven't been able to find it on the social medias. Cleared my schedule for this weekend.
  7. Don't know how to feel about that. I understand financially it doesn't make sense to get more without knowing if they'll be needed but it seems odd to just continue on with the season without a set of uniforms.
  8. Wow... So now what? Is there not another set? @ADLERthe greens were stolen in Ruston. Does this mean we're done for the season if we can't get replacements?
  9. Can somebody send this to McCasland and the AD's office. They need to know this so we stop losing games.
  10. Hate to say it but I'm becoming a believer.
  11. That's what we said last season after UTEP. Hopefully tonight is not a predictor for what's to come.
  12. Looked like a foul to me on that Huntsberry drive. Regardless, nobody else to blame. Can't shoot 3-13 from 3 and expect a win.
  13. I'm stuck between Jemison and Gaines, both from UAB. Jemison and Ousmane would be a force down low together. While Ousmane is very talented offensively, he's a bit thin and Jemison is a physical force who is a rebounding machin. I think he would compliment Ousmane very well. Gaines, on the other hand, is a younger player being listed as a sophomore but he's a talented scorer with a lot of upside. I'd love to have him for the next 2 seasons.
  14. I've come from the future to tell you it's now 38-34.
  15. UAB up 50-13 with 3 minutes left in the first half.
  16. And he does so for a reason. Grant keeps a tight rotation. If he's got a guy on the court, it's because he's earned it with hard work and performance. May not be to your liking. You're also not the one coaching UNT to yet another 20+ win season.
  17. This is a huge game, honestly. I believe it's our last shot at a Quad 2 win before the conference tournament. A win here would make us 4-3 in Quad 1 and Quad 2s combined as things stand.
  18. A guy playing 16 minutes per game for a team that's 23-5 and the second best defensive team in the country couldn't get any playing time for most programs in the country? This is one of the worst takes I've seen on this board. Good job. We love to tear down our own no matter how good the team is doing. Grant is a great coach who's got the program rolling. If he's playing a guy, there's a reason why.
  19. They shouldn't be. 0-1 in Quad 1 games. 15 of their wins have come against Quad 4 teams.
  20. It sure isn't once Houston leaves. I really think UNT, UAB, and maybe FAU (obviously having a good season but need to see it more than once) have what it takes to keep the basketball side of the AAC up but don't know if it'll be enough to earn multiple bids moving forward. Current NET rankings: #1 UH, #20 FAU, #39 Memphis, #46 UNT, #64 UAB, #76 UCF, #80 Cincy, #87 Tulane. That's the top 100 between the current AAC and CUSA. We lose UH, UCF, and Cincy but at least replace Cincy and UCF with better teams as they are this season. Going to need strong OOC wins next season if the new AAC wants multiple bids.
  21. I just recently found out. If Owen McCown wins the UTSA starting job when Harris is finally done, it'll be fun to watch sons of two former NFL quarterbacks play in our conference. Hopefully it brings a bit of attention to the AAC assuming the college world doesn't catch on late like they did with Frank Gore Jr playing for Southern Miss. There's actually quite a few sons of former NFL players in college right now not named Shadeur Sanders and Marvin Harrison Jr. Some great names on this list: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2022/08/03/college-football-2022-18-players-famous-nfl-fathers/10220528002/
  22. I saw. We're getting no help in all these close games. I think it'll come down to their last 2 games plus ACC tournament anyways but a bad loss less than a month before selection sunday would have been nice.
