  1. I don’t necessarily disagree, but I think any team in this conference would have trouble beating Tulane, Memphis, UTSA, and SMU in consecutive weeks.
  2. Our conference losses are to the current top five teams in the conference standings.
  3. Agreed. They’ve beaten Baylor (3-7), Jackson St. (7-3), Nevada (2-8), Southern Miss (3-8), ULM (2-9), and Georgia Southern (6-4). Not terribly impressive.
  4. Probably coverage and tackling, but if the players aren’t capable…
  5. Maybe it’s not coaching. If it’s covering and tackling it might be the players.
  6. Had you rather have Caponi or Tulsa’s OC? Better question is probably who would you rather have least.🤣
  7. Late reply, but once he stepped out of bounds he is down. He had control when he stepped out of bounds. Honestly one of the worst overturned calls I’ve ever seen.
  8. Who’s the guy that ESPN thinks is Morris?🤣🤣🤣
  9. It says the same about us as it does about pretty much every other G5 and many P5’s.
  10. Yes, every game has gone down to wire including TCU, Colorado St., Stanford, Arizona St., Nebraska. Bottom line is they’re 4-6 playing in a conference of their peers and Prime is the model of what a coach should be. We’re 3-7 in a conference of our peers and people are calling for Morris’s job.
  11. Has he? They’ve beaten one team with a winning record (if you’re lenient and call 5-5 a winning record).
  12. I almost stated it that way originally. The only reason I didn’t is because I was wanting to make the point that regardless of winning or losing those games, we’re the same team, only people’s perception would change. My point being, even if we’d have won those two games, we still wouldn’t be very good.
  13. Yeah, I saw that in the post by @NT80. I would have only been about 10 years old at the time, but I don’t remember these from Rice. I guess I should change the thread title to “Rice throwback helmet an inspiration for the SoW?”🤣🤣
  14. The FIU and Navy losses are the ones that define the season. Win those two games and we’re considered a decent team. But we lost them so we’re considered a bad team.
  15. From the standpoint of hiring Caponi or of hiring a 3-3-5 coach? Could have been a mistake either way or both ways I guess.
  16. This is, of course, true to an extent. The fact that each school doesn’t play each other is what makes it relevant. If the conference played a round robin schedule it would be basic math, but they don’t, so it isn’t. Also, I figured it based on each team’s season record, not just their conference record, so that discounts “a win for Team A equals a loss for Team B.”
  17. These are the combined records of conference opponents only. So, for example, our record doesn’t count Cal, FIU, etc. I’m doing this on my phone and I just randomly looked at each team, so sorry they aren’t in any type of order. Also, not going to guarantee 100% accuracy as this was done pretty quickly without any double checking. It’s pretty close though. This is only through the games that have been played so far. UNT 39-20 Tulane: 23-37 SMU: 18-44 Memphis: 27-32 UTSA: 19-41 Navy: 25-35 Temple: 30-29 UAB: 37-23 FAU: 23-37 Tulsa: 31-29 Rice: 34-26 Charlotte: 29-30 USF: 26-34 ECU: 35-25 What’s the point? None really. Just thought I’d be interesting to see.
  18. Calling now so you can say “I told you so.”?
  19. Our 5 one score games only gets us to 8-2. BUT, I think it’s lost on many people here how close we are to having anywhere from a decent to great record.
