  1. The truth hurts. In a war like the one going on between the students and alumni, nobody wins. I went to UNT for 2 years, I understand a lot where the students are coming from, using conventional wisdom and character analysis along with empathy, I can see where the alumni are coming from too. There needs to be at the very least, a compromise.
  2. You guys are STILL fighting over this? I'm sorry to say, but if the UH alumni were like the UNT alumni. We wouldn't have this or <---A bunch of Coogs at a Dallas bar did the Coogs house chant. The alumni and admin loved the idea of the new gen coming up with Coogs House, that now all Freshmen are taught it at orientation because it is now a tradition. or http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=EwMVK8qnWlc or the student section also does the "U-H UH!" chant (with pelvic thrusts, which definitely would cause the alumni to go apeshit if UNT students were to do this) Everything, I posted above are traditions formed in the last 10 or so years. Please don't discourage the students. We also remixed the end of our fight song towards the end and the alumni love it. They understand that the new generation will come in and add onto the traditions. Like I mentioned earlier, I agree that the MFing doesn't need to be said in the fight song but attacking the students for partying at the Hill is just a recipe for suppressing tradition and hurting overall student support for generations. I remember a poster on here once said something along the lines of, they rather have 10,000 fans/students who are "classy" and "respected traditions" than 40-50,000 "classless, Texas Tech-like" fans. I'll find the quote and show it to you guys. This Student-Alumni war needs to STOP and STOP NOW.
  3. I didn't leave because I felt unwanted. I love UNT and could never hate it but the general attitude of GMG has to change. Yeah, i understand the fan attitude has no direct impact on the team but it most certainly does on the culture. I understand that the alumni went through decades of failure, futility and pessimism and I commend them for sticking it out, but they have to understand that there's a new generation who doesn't know about all of those things. At the same time, New generation has to keep showing up and embrace UNT, not Whorn, not Aggy, not UH and so on. I honestly would love to see the day when elementary schools kids are playing football at recess and pretending to play for the Mean Green. Kids talking about UNT, there is so much potential for Denton and UNT. The only thing it needs is a spark to start the fire. Old guard and new gen can co-exist and move forward which has been proven to be possible by many many schools across the country but they should at least meet each other halfway.
  4. You HAVE to let the students do their own thing. I'll admit that one could go without adding the MFing in the Fight Song but at the same time, it's not the biggest problem in the world. Whorn says "give em hell give em hell, make em eat shit" in their fight song and nobody complains. Point being, as others have mentioned earlier in the thread, if you take your kids to a college football game, unless it's BYU, there's going to be drinking and partying going on at tailgate. Parents take children to UT, Bama,West Virginia, Boise, etc. games all the time and none of them complain about what posters here are complaining about. Cannibalizing and demonizing students will only lead to destruction. Embrace them, don't push them away.
  5. I think you're a raging loser but +1 because THAT was a burn.
  6. I see that UH is starting to replace SMU as the GMG obsession.
  7. The only departure I remember after McCarney became HC was Carey.
  8. No, mid to late 90s. We averaged 50k when Ware and Klingler were under center. The crowds went away after Klingler graduated and we started sucking.
  9. Oh, so the retard who got banned was you? Makes sense.
  10. This. However, every time I comment on something UNT related. (I follow UNT football closer than some UNT fans) Whatever UH is doing is somehow brought up. Our first 2 games were sellouts actually. (something UNT hasnt done in 25 years) The UTEP game was about 28-29k. The UNT game was about 26-27k. Lol at least we have T-Shirt fans, UNT would love for locals to buy season tickets and show up for games. Yes our student turnout isn't as good as last year but it is easily between at least 6-8000 (As opposed to 15k+ last year) .Which of course is more than UNT's. Again, don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.
  11. Actually our average this year is 28.5k. You my friend, are the one who knows nothing. Our attendance this year would be amazing by UNT standards.
  12. Bullshit. Our stadium has not been scaled back to 35,.you are the butt monkey on this site for a reason. The main reason we are building a 40-50k stadium is because 35k is too small for our fan base.
  13. I was born in Houston lived here in early childhood and grew up in SETX and visited family in Houston. I think I know this city pretty well. If the Dynamo were more relevant, than tell me the last time Dynamo tickets went up to 200 bucks? Tell me the last time the Dynamo had to turn people away from their games because there was no more room in the stadium. Tell me the last time KHOU did an entire segment on Dynamo tickets? Tell me the last time a Dynamo game ticket was the hottest ticket in town? Tell me the last time people camped out for the Dynamo games the following afternoon. Tell me the last time people begged for Dynamo ticket outside of the stadium? Tell me the last time the news held a contest to see who could win Dynamo tickets and had over 60,000 ticketless people enter to try and win them? Just as I thought.
  14. Jealousy isn't an attractive trait. Just sayin.
  15. Adding onto this, not only is the same company that built Apogee is building our stadium, but it will be around 45-50k and approximately $100 million more expensive. Other than Smoo, all of our C-USA opponents were blown out by halftime.
  16. Not gonna happen. We're dominating C-USA despite most of our starters being Freshmen and Sophomores. If Osborn was the Starter, UNT would probably be in the running for a Sun Belt Title. What is there to be envious of?
  17. It would be funny if he goes to a C-USA school, becomes the starter and lights up UNT next year.
  18. This is true but at the same time cannot be used as an excuse. Hell, we have a lot of freshmen and sophomores starting, yet we are still in a position to possibly win C-USA. It all comes down to coaching in the end.
  19. Instead of fighting and arguing like cats and dogs, you guys SHOULD be uniting and collaborating ways to try and help get this thing passed, whatever that may be. The rest of us (the other big Texas schools) don't yield to Austin, so you guys shouldn't either, but if you keep fighting, this will slip away from you guys eventually.
  20. I was peeking at the game on my phone after our game got boring and out of reach. I thought Dodge was still coaching the team judging from what I was watching yesterday.
  21. I wonder if my Mom knows how to make meatloaf now that I think about it...I'm gonna give her call and ask her.
  22. I could make a post about me feeding the poor and washing the feet of the homeless and I'd still get negs. Oh well, they're just red square on a computer screen anyway. I was keeping up with UH before I even started going there.
  23. Interesting...we got approved for our Union building/student center with little to no difficulty and is being built on our campus right now. It should be finished by early 2014. Maybe this is a UNT thing with Austin...
