  1. Very. I hope we can get him. I wonder if we got Smart and maybe a few other guys like Antoine and George, if Tebo grayshirts.
  2. Wow, nice! I know it's Texas State, but when was the last time we flipped a player? It seems like it's been a little while.
  3. Bump for Kingwood Green. How've things been going with Josh and Kingwood?
  4. I liked that too. This is not something that should be kept up in the long run, but playing primarily five guys the whole game does have its upsides. It creates good team chemistry and if the players are good, you get to keep your good players on the court, even though it is forced. Once a few guys come back they should hopefully fit into our rotation well, but we know the guys that need to be in our rotation come crunch time.
  5. I made a thread about this class. I believe that the prep recruits from this class are the best thing that the Dodge regime left for coach Mac, save for maybe Lance Dunbar. These guys plus the redshirt seniors from the class of 2009 (Thompson, Boutwell, Hilbert) should provide excellent upperclassmen leadership. Throw in guys like a former transfer senior (Marcus Trice) and former walk-on seniors like Darnell Smith and Sarge and we have a solid looking senior class.
  6. We signed the full 25 last year. Cam Feldt and Marcus Trice were included in the 2012 class. Also, don't forget to count Christian Hines and Andrew Tucker (our grayshirts) in the 2013 class. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/school/_/id/249/class/2012
  7. Yeah, and you'd see a lot more crystal footballs in Tuscaloosa... oh wait! I get you're point, but recruiting classes are huge and the best coaches are good recruiters. This means getting players that rivals schools wanted too, and a lot of times these players happen to have quite a few stars on their recruit profiles. You're definitely right in one aspect. If you can't develop players then you're team will not reach its full potential. This is why I think Mack Brown should step down as an outsider looking in. Coach Mac seems to be doing a good job developing players so far.
  8. He's a serious football fan just like most of us. He is at every game and I don't see how anyone who attended at least every home game last year could be a fond of Thompson's play. Maybe he shouldn't have said what he said, but I'd rather have him speak his mind than lie about what he thinks. As for Connor, he was a steal and has performed very well for us thus far. He couldn't care less whether a few Thompson fans on this board have a target out for him.
  9. He wasn't listed at the end of the semester. I was hearing that he was really struggling in practice, so it's not completely out of the question that he got discouraged and went home. I don't know exactly what happened but I think he is gone. Also, one thing about Mustafa that has never been questioned was his work ethic. He was the only senior at our school to ever go through the off-season in our football class for their second semester of senior year, or at least since our current coach has been here. He just isn't tall enough to play end and he doesn't have the overall size but he's doing everything he can regardless. Truss bus has improved by leaps and bounds at squats but that will always be his weakness in the weight room. Hope he picks up his effort, but he should be fine.
  10. Yeah, but you have to consider that Bill Snyder is the all-time Junior College Recruiter. I'm sure he can live with it.
  11. He was being battled for by Baylor, Tech, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee. We wouldn't have had much of a chance unfortunately.
  12. Ah, forgot about Claude George! Yeah I like his potential as well. I like pulling players from Louisiana as well.
  13. This. I look at Kenny Buyers contributing on special teams and even playing meaningful minutes at times in our dime packages last year as a walkon true freshman. If a guy like John Shilleci, scholarship commit who looked suspect when I saw him play for Guyer this year, can turn out as good as Kenny Buyers, I'd be happy.
  14. I agree. If Beasley commits, which I think he will since we are his only offer, I could see him being a potential grayshirt candidate
  15. 3 spots left in this class seems to be the consensus. We're less than a month from signing day, so who would you want (ideally, yet realistically) to fill our recruiting class? A few of the candidates: (Player, home town, position, Rivals Rank) Jermaine Antoine - Loreauville, LA - Skill Athlete - 3 stars DJ Dean - Newton, TX - Skill Athlete - 3 stars Aaron Doddy - Hooks, TX - Skill Athlete - 2 stars Jerquis Beasley - Orange, TX - Defensive Tackle - Unranked Chris Loving (JUCO) - Klein, TX - Tight End - Unranked Tre Allen - Longview, TX - Jumbo Athlete - 2 stars Allen is still listed as a commit to Arky State on recruiting websites but has decommitted from the team and still is uncommitted as far as I know. He also does not show a UNT offer but does have former teammates from Chapel Hill in Tyler currently playing for UNT. http://etsn.fm/longviews-tre-allen-no-longer-committed-to-arkansas-state-weighing-options/ *Note - A skill athlete is a player recruited to play a skill position on either side of the ball such as a wide receiver/cornerback and a jumbo athlete has the potential to play a position on either side of the ball with more weight requirements such as a tight end/defensive end or a o-lineman/d-lineman.
  16. That's awesome! Also, Adoboyejo is taking an OV to TCU next weekend.
  17. Those are pretty good numbers. We shouldn't have to use tight ends as much this year if we can roll out a decent passing game.
  18. Yeah, I saw how many they had on there. I'm not saying they aren't good, I'm just sticking up for the only current UNT commit out of the Parisites.
  19. Maybe, but he is the only one that got all-state recognition. Also, this guy on this list who interests me is Sam Sizelove. He's a junior linebacker from Argyle high and he made first-team all-state defense. 6'4" 215lbs as a junior. http://rivals.yahoo.com/theoldcoach/football/recruiting/player-Sam-Sizelove-142005
  20. Really? I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not, but I thought he's been pretty firm on not taking sides between Berglund and Thompson.
  21. 6'2" 245 lbs as a current sophomore is pretty impressive. Could be an early center prospect for us, hopefully.
