  1. DT Charles Walker 6'4" 280 lbs (Garland, TX) - VIDEO Walker is a guy who has been very much under the radar, but has burst onto the scene recently with some very impressive senior film. The Oklahoma scholarship offer only added to the attention as they tend to do. Injuries have been the only reason Walker has not received more attention. When he has been healthy he's been absolutely dominant, which was never more evident than in his senior film. He's a guy that, if he can stay healthy, could be a real diamond in the rough for Oklahoma if they could secure his commitment. Walker discussed possibly committing at the time the Sooners offered and has said if he likes what he sees this weekend he could commit on the spot. Walker currently holds offers from Oklahoma, Houston, Iowa State, New Mexico, and North Texas among others. 2. Sulphur Springs running back Willy Ivery has committed to UNT. He was always pretty high on UNT’s wish list, and for good reason. He is a three-star running back with offers from New Mexico, Colorado State and Toledo, among others. 3. I have been holding on to this little tidbit until this morning after all the smoke cleared from the early signing period in basketball. We can go ahead and count Red Oak cornerback Garrett Davis among UNTs commitments. I talked with Red Oak coach Mike Shields late yesterday afternoon and he confirmed that Davis has committed to UNT. He hadnt talked to him about the decision until yesterday. read more: http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2013/11/thursday-morning-recruiting-notes-unt-lands-two-more.html/
  4. Oklahoma defensive back Tre Betts has established a pecking order among the schools that are recruiting him that puts UNT in a good position to land one of the top players in the state. Betts said Friday afternoon that UNT, Kansas and Louisiana-Lafayette are the top three teams he is considering at this point. UNT is the only school among those three that has offered a scholarship to Betts, who plays for Charles Page in Sand Springs, Okla., near Tulsa. Betts, 5-11, 181, has been told he is on the recruiting boards at both Kansas and ULL in addition to Oklahoma State, Baylor, Arkansas State and Memphis. “I am not necessarily waiting,” Betts said, “I am trying to find the right fit. If I find it two weeks from now, I will commit then. If it’s not until two weeks before signing day, I will commit then.” read more: http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/
  5. One of the top high school players in Denton is seriously considering continuing his career at UNT. J.T. Williams, a defensive tackle for state powerhouse Ryan, said this morning that the Mean Green is currently among the top two teams he is considering. Houston is also at the top of Williams’ list. Arkansas State has been in contact with Williams, who said that Baylor could also be close to offering him a scholarship. 6. UNT hosted arguably its most important recruiting camp of the year last night and is hours away from its biggest event of the summer. As we talked about last night, UNT’s Talon Talent camp paid big dividends when Fonzale Davis, a wide receiver from South Oak Cliff, committed to UNT. Friday Night Lights is tonight. The annual camp that is open to any high school player has grown over the years and is a big recruiting tool for UNT. 7. A new name on the radar is All-District 17-5A DB Detrick Brown-Hornsby from Cypress Creek. Very good athlete. I think the Hudl video is more updated/better. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/591229/highlights/17367379
