  1. I get that LaTech hates ULL, but faced with the alternative... What would be so bad about having a hated rival in your division? Outside of joining big 12 or having UH/smut, etc.. in our conference, the list I laid out above is about as good as we could hope for, and it would be a damn competitive league. Maybe too competitive.
  2. I wonder if we will lose the eastern contingent as a result of the ECU loss? Possibly could bring USM, UAB to the west and try to build a 10-12 team tight knit regional conference? Adding ULL, WKU, MTSU, and TxSt would create a pretty nice footprint. Tulsa UTEP UTSA Rice UNT TxSt LaTech ULL WKU MTSU USM UAB This looks really nice to me.
  3. Maybe we won't be adding anyone after all. 12 really is the best number for a conference IMO. Play 5 games in division and then play half the other division.
  4. I accidentally posted this in BB forum and meant to post it here. Admins feel free to remove the other topic.
  5. http://carolinasportsthoughts.blogspot.com/2012/11/tulane-to-big-east.html http://www.nola.com/tulane/ Wahhhhh! Wanted road trip to NOLA.
  6. Has anyone heard from players, or tried to circulate with the players to get feedback? Has their been any response from the athletic department?
  7. I love Zach's motor and he is the best we have, but he is at such a disadvantage playing middle at 220 (I look back at the UH game as a perfect example). I wish we were able to have a DE sized guy there to be a run stopper and allow Zach to freelance and rush the passer a little more.
  8. DL is an obvious area of need. Coach indicated that he is going after 4-5 OL in recruiting class even though we are pretty deep there on paper. He has previously mentioned that he expects a few players to move positions. I wonder if we can conclude he is planning on moving 1 or 2 players currently listed as OL to the DL to spread out the size and depth?
  9. Somebody provide a correction if needed. Trying to list this from memory. Coach said he is bringing in 20 recruits, plus the transfers/grayshirts Expected HS recruiting breakdown as follows: 1 QB 4-5 OL 3 DL 0 RB 3 WR 4 DB 3 LB 2 ATH The transfer/gray that will become eligible are: Pegram - RB (2 yrs eligibility) xfer Bergulund - QB (3 yrs eligibility) xfer Terrell - WR (2 yrs eligibility) xfer Caldwell - WR (2 yrs eligibility) xfer Tucker - RB (HS) gray - still planning to enroll? Hines - WR (HS) gray - still planning to enroll?
  10. I believe they are purchasing the MG Premium type offering from ULM's website: https://www.nmnathletics.com//subs/Landing.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=19000&db_oem_id=19000&TRACK_CROSS_DOMAIN=&gclid= $10 for the game/month.
  11. It seemed like they tried a little in the 49 pass/30 rush effort against ArkSt. 300+ passing yds in that game, but sputtered once again in red zone a couple of times.
  12. I seem to remember another certain former OU safety that seemed to have the same issue...
  13. They are overrated when you consider that the ONLY reason that the SEC is looked upon more favorably than we are is because the they have their choice of recruits, have more fans, and spend more money. Other than that, we are basically the same.
  14. MG Premium? Watching the scores scroll at the bottom of the screen?
  15. Cause D2 teams can't compete with D1.
  16. Son, either join the Army or go to jail. It's your choice. (thinks about it) doot da dewwwww...doot da dewwwww (obscure Richar Pryor ref)
  17. Well, at least I agree with Benford's assessment of the UAH game.
  18. I was referring to the direct response to my original post, an subsequent hissy match that kind of got weird.
  19. What just happened? Let me be clear, UT and ATM can go play in the Canadian Football League and far as I care and take the rest of the Big 12 and SEC with them. I don't have a dog in that hunt. However, from a non fan of either school (If I had to choose, I probably lean a little more pro UT), my perception is that a lot of UT wanted to see the ags go 0-forever in the SEC, but they seem to be holding up ok. Also, my uneducated perception was that ATM seemed to be doing pretty well on the recruiting trail ever since the announced the move to the SEC. However, I seemed to be able to summon a UT troll that felt he needed to set me straight, which had the unfortunate consequence of bringing out the anti UNT troll to troll on behalf of ATM. Apologies to the rest of the board. Since my uneducated perception was pointed out to be completely off base, I decided to educate myself a little more and here is what I found: According to Rivals, UT has had a higher ranked recruiting class than ATM going back to 2002 (as far as they go back) in all but 2 years. This year is the first in a long time that ATM is on track to have a better ranked class. Last year's class (2012) was the first class that included the knowledge that ATM would be in the SEC. It certainly has the appearance that ATM's recruiting has improved and UT's has declined. I wonder if the two are somehow related? Year--UT--ATM 2013--11--09 2012--02--15 2011--03--27 2010--03--17 2009--05--22 2008--14--16 2007--05--43 2006--05--26 2005--20--08 2004--18--20 2003--15--10 2002--01--23 Lastly, my apologies for suggesting UT was having a down year. I don't know what I was thinking. Yes, if they win out, which includes beating the #1 or #2 team in the country, I am sure they will go to a BCS bowl. However, when they get pasted by OU, beaten by WVU, and require a last second score to beat KU, my guess is that they are having a down year. Is there a way you can both go 0-12? Better? Troll on...
  20. MF'in Leprechauns!!! Fight! Fight! Fight!
  21. When starting 4 guards and a forward, it will be hard to win many rebounding battles unless the other team is doing the same. It will also be hard to run much of a half court offense when the other team simply packs it in the paint and dares you to make outside shots (especially if can't hit an outside shot). This type of lineup running a weave against a packed in defense will make it look like you have 3 guys running around oustide the 3 point line doing nothing in particular (if we can't make a shot, why go out and guard us?) until the shot clock gets low and we have to throw up a tough, contested shot. If you are going to go with a small athletic lineup then run their arses in the ground and take shots in transition before they have time to pack it in. It seems we are trying to play a lot of half court sets with up tempo personnel. The substitution pattern we are following is somewhat understandable when you are running full speed up and down the court every possession and playing hellacious D, the guys will need quick breathers. It doesn't make as much sense when running a lot of half court sets and soft D. I am confident (hopeful?) that things will settle down and players and coaches will learn what works/doesn't work, and I plan to support the team, but losing to to DII school that gets beat by 60+ the next night? C'MON MAN!
