  1. **warning** turn down the volume if you're at work. Too bad they have UNT's old unis in the promo.... http://www.theblackdiamondgroup.net/sunbel...oot/sunbelt.htm
  2. It only makes sense to recruit DFW-area kids. It's more local advertising for UNT in the area papers and makes inroads to the local high schools for general student recruitment. Local players also attract local family and friends to NT games. If you google the name "Todd Dodge" you'll find 39,700 entries! An interesting column about Dodge's near electrocution: http://www.theoldcoach.com/archives/000628.php
  3. AD's are not normally groomed to replace another. There are AD searches conducted just like for coaches when one leaves. And who is to say Hank won't leave before RV? He almost got the AD job at A$M-CC last year.
  4. Then it's built by the same company that built SLC's because it was on Carroll's "google" page. Check out the likeness to these "real" Carroll Stadium photos.... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...l%3Den%26sa%3DN
  5. bump.....a good chance to hear Coach Dodge talk about NT's upcoming season.
  6. Southlake Dragon Stadium..... http://www.flexicoreoftexas.com/pix/5_02/stadium2.jpg
  7. I can live with 40,000 seats to start. That will be better than SMUt's stadium and we can host almost any program with that size stadium. BUILD IT !
  8. Green Jackets photo from 1969.... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...l%3Den%26sa%3DG
  9. You are already part of a group called Mean Green Fans. Why do you have to start a new group? Just come to games and bring friends.
  10. USA had second longest winning streak at 13 games broken by FIU. FIU trailed by about 16 points with 18 minutes to play.
  11. "Two Vanderbilt players acting like Aggies" ?
  12. That should read "commit$". Any school with a $40 million athletic budget has no excuse, ever, to not have succe$$. The right coach helps too, and A&M is fortunate to have Gillespie. But how long can they keep him? He loves to rebuild programs, not maintain them.
  13. NT Softball lost Friday night 2-10 to UT. NT lost Saturday afternoon to SDSU 0-4. NT plays UT again today at 5pm.
  14. If you missed Coach Dodge speaking at the NT Football Banquet, here's another chance..... http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...CRIBER_CONTENT=
  15. Man, get out of there now, you've swallowed too much dust! Save yourself before it's too late and the cows start looking good to you too. Wreck Tech!
  16. UNT signs area tennis players 11:25 PM CST on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 Allison Chermel of Frisco Centennial and Shannon McKenzie of McKinney have signed national letters of intent to play tennis for North Texas, coach Sujay Lama announced.
  17. NT losing 9-0 to uT in night game.
  18. Dodge said, "Meeting President Bush was the highlight of our trip. He spent time talking to Riley and Molly about the difference between making popular decisions and making right decisions. He is also a big football fan and is aware of what we are doing at the University of North Texas."
  19. How is Abner Haynes not in Texas HOF? February 15, 2007 The Texas Sports Hall of Fame will induct another class tonight, and once again Abner Haynes won't be included. How ridiculous. The man should be honored solely for breaking the state's college football color barrier, along with Leon King, at North Texas. Even if his social significance isn't considered, Haynes should have been in the Texas HOF based on his credentials a long time ago. Haynes, a sensational running back/receiver/return man, shined at every level in the state. He led Dallas' Lincoln High to the Prairie View Interscholastic League title game. He broke a bunch of records at North Texas. And he was Dallas' first pro sports supertar, earning the AFL Player of the Year honor as a Dallas Texans rookie in 1960. Perhaps it was Haynes' fault the franchise moved to Kansas City a few years later. I can't think of any other reason to not include him with other Texas sports legends. 20. One of the better NTDaily sports articles I've read recently. Compliments to the writer.
  21. I expect much better things from the O-line this year, and team in general as far as assignments and completing them.
  22. You are correct in that there are other variables, but coaching was one of them.
  23. College football: Dodge has a fan in the Oval Office 12:13 AM CST on Thursday, February 15, 2007 Brett Vito / Staff Writer New North Texas football coach Todd Dodge knew he had more than a few fans in Southlake and Denton because of his history of success at Carroll and his promise to turn around the Mean Green. He just never would have guessed he had an admirer in the Oval Office. Dodge, his wife, Elizabeth, son Riley and daughter Molly were in Washington D.C. last week, and spent a few minutes with President George W. Bush on Friday. Dodge was in town to speak at a football clinic. “It was a surreal experience,” Dodge said. “It was almost overwhelming to find out that the president knew about me and my son. I was told that he had watched us play in the state championship game. “He told Riley he was the first player he had seen throw up and throw a touchdown pass on the same play.” Riley became sick during the Dragons’ win over Austin Westlake in the state title game last season. Dodge said he wanted to take his family with him to Washington D.C. and make the trip an educational one. Dodge tapped into his contacts to make sure his family would see the White House. Lindsay Lineweaver, an assistant to first lady Laura Bush, is the daughter of Trinity head coach Steve Lineweaver and the brother of Carroll assistant Aaron Lineweaver. Dodge contacted Aaron to see if his family could visit the White House and quickly heard that his family would be welcome. “After the first contact with Lindsay, they called back and asked if we could change the time because the president wanted to meet us,” Dodge said. “He spent 20-25 minutes with us.” Bush talked to Riley and Molly about making good decisions in life and shared stories about the history of the White House and the Oval Office. Bush even asked Dodge if he planned to recruit Riley to play at UNT. Riley will be a senior at Carroll next season. “It was an unbelievable day,” Dodge said. “You walk out of there and can’t believe that you just talked to the most powerful man in the world.” Briefly … Dodge said he would announce the final assistant coach for his staff today. UNT is looking for a defensive ends coach to replace Derek Lewis. The former Texas standout was a member of the Mean Green’s staff for just a few days before leaving to join the staff at Minnesota as tight ends coach.
