  1. Best of luck to Grant. He is a class act. Tragic what the system did to him.
  2. Yeah I keep hearing that college enrollment keeps shrinking and yet UNT's keeps going up. What is the deal with that? Is it that we are doing more online or perhaps the UNT Dallas school?
  3. DALLAS (May 3, 2023) – After a stellar first season at UNT with the women’s tennis program, freshman Matilde Morais landed on three different All-Conference USA teams as she earned Second Team All-CUSA honors in both singles and doubles as well as landing on the All-Freshman team. Morais was honored on the doubles team with sophomore Jasmine Adams who earned All-CUSA honors for the second consecutive season after landing on the All-Freshman team and Second Team Singles a season ago. The combination of Morais and Adams teamed up to post a team-best 9-5 record while playing exclusively at line one throughout the year. From Jan. 14 to April 19, the duo won 10 consecutive doubles matches including a win over Maryland who was ranked as the No. 53 ranked doubles team in the country. UNT has now had a duo earn Second Team All-Conference honors in doubles for six straight years dating back to the 2017-18 season. This also marks three consecutive seasons the Mean Green have landed a player on the All-Freshman team after Adams earned the honor in 2022 and Saki Oyama was named in 2021. Individually, Morais had a phenomenal year, posting an 11-4 overall record with nine wins at line two and two more at line one. In dual play, Morais won nine consecutive matches to start the season, matching a school record for consecutive wins to open a career. In the fall, Morais won eight total singles matches and took home the line two singles title at the UIW Fall Classic. For her efforts, Morais was named the C-USA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week on Feb. 22 after her wins over USF and DBU. Since joining C-USA in 2013-14, UNT has placed at least one player on both the singles and doubles all-conference teams in nine of the 10 seasons. The Mean Green finished the season with 11 victories and advanced to the C-USA Tournament Quarterfinal for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.
  4. DENTON, Texas – Six UNT athletic programs earned a perfect single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score of 1,000 while seven teams improved or maintained their multi-year APR from the previous year. Additionally, Women's Tennis earned a perfect multi-year score of 1,000 for an eighth straight year. Men’s Golf, Women’s Golf and Women’s Cross Country have each achieved an APR of 1000 for three consecutive years. Men’s Track and Field posted its highest multi-year APR in program history with a 975, while Women’s Track and Field recorded a 990 for its second highest total on record. Swim and Dive (13 years) and Soccer (12 years) both extended streaks of maintaining or exceeding APR scores of 980 or greater. Women’s Golf has exceeded the 980 mark for the eighth year in a row. The following teams boasted perfect 1000 scores in the APR single-year: Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Golf, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Cross Country, Women’s Golf, Women’s Tennis. Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked. This is the second year of publicly reported APRs after a one-year COVID-19 hiatus. Last spring, the Division I Board of Directors approved the release of APR scores but voted to continue the suspension of program penalties.
  5. It seems like the time it took to win the NIT may have taken our eye off the ball of the recruiting season. Just speculation on that from my part. It did take awhile and then the hiring of Hodge. Mac did us no favors by taking every single one of our assistants either. It took a month to get Estelle's contrct finalized.
  6. Would be interested in this as well but will probably give some today as well.
  7. Is there not a chance that we still good with portal options coming available after spring training? Seems like a lot of good players are bolting now that spring training is wrapping up.
  8. Yes I agree but the schedules are all about giving the coaches what they want. They see it as a game they can win and they get more from wins than power rankings. Also the AD staff likes it as an easy road game to travel to and get back in bed early lol
  9. Playing time versus sitting on the bench?
  10. That makes two of us. I really do wish him well and hope he can land a full time position again someday. He was extremely nice to me and my family.

  12. COLUMBIA, Mo. – UNT softball fell 5-0 to Missouri on Sunday at Mizzou Softball Stadium. “This weekend was a tough series against a good SEC program,” head coach Rodney DeLong said. “I thought our pitchers threw really well and gave us a chance in every game. This series was scheduled to make us better, win or lose. We’re looking forward to a big series next weekend at FAU.” North Texas (26-19) was held scoreless despite runners reaching base in five of seven innings. The Mean Green suffered its second shutout to the Tigers (28-20) and fifth of the season.
