  1. @Ben Gooding Are your top two triple option candidates Willie Fritz and Irvin Jasper?
  2. @DougRush - So Jinks has quickly turned into a leading candidate on the message board, but he hasn't been asked to interview? Do you know if Rick Villarreal or the president have contacted him in any way? Thanks for the info.
  3. We all want you to come in and compete for the starting spot. In fact, most of us on the board hope you win it...but that's in your hands. Mac has made it very clear what you need to do to win the starting spot at North Texas: 1. Protect the football 2. Avoid turnovers for the love of all things holy 3. Know the playbook inside and out 4. Be a student of the game and spend additional time studying film 5. Be a leader and role model (preferably a vocal one) 6. Be consistent - in practice and in games - on the field and off the field 7. Get the job done 8. Be coachable - listen to critique, work hard, make improvements 9. Take care of academics 10. Be reliable and prepared for everything expected of you (workouts, academics, meetings, practice, etc.) 11. Love the Mean Green Family Do those eleven things starting today and you'll put yourself in a good position to be the starter. Don't do those eleven things and you'll likely end up on the sideline... The choice is yours. Good luck.

  5. "He was verbally committed to Louisville for much of his high school career but ended up signing with Central Florida, although he never played there. He then went to WKU, redshirted in 2012 and saw action in five games in 2013 before transferring to Butler CC this past summer." 6. We need wins and we need a tune-up game. Programs in the P5 benefit from doing it once a season. We should too.
  7. Any chance UH wants to come back to C-USA? West = La Tech, Rice, North Texas, UTEP, UH, UTSA, and Southern Miss
  8. Question: Is this football only? Or do they now have to pay EVERY student athlete on campus the same amount?
  9. I'll be there with 4 of my family members. My mom and brother both went to IU and flew the family out for the 2011 game in Apogee. I've been riding that victory hard the past few years...winning this one would give me at least a decade worth of material. Go Mean Green!
  10. Let's just call him Dajon and see what he does over the course of a season before feeling the need to assign a nickname.

  12. Dajon needs to figure out whatever maturity issues he's been struggling with and be the starter for this team.
  13. Should be Greer. Hope they got him as many reps as possible with the 1s this week.
  14. Dan McCarney has done wonders for North Texas. No question about it. Wouldn't trade him for anyone else right now. Thanks to all the coaches for your efforts in changing the perception of UNT. Your work, progress, and goals are deeply appreciated despite what some on this board may portray. Go Mean Green! #BeatSMU #Hit6
  15. Mac said we made it out with no injuries and that "the same coaches will be coaching the same players that were on the field" this week... No?
  16. That sounds like a terrible way to completely undermined our experienced and proven coaching staff's decisions in front of the players, fans, and visitors. If you want to put salt in the wound of a bad first game starting a new QB and tear the Mean Green nation apart, then go for it. If you want the team and program to succeed, then show up, be supportive, and cheer loudly for the positives. We all know starting a new QB post Derek Thompson would come with growing pains. Well, the growing pains are here and we're experiencing them now. I assure you that no one is more embarrassed and disappointed with Saturday's game than the coaches and players. Let them take care of business this week and trust that they will be better against SMU.
  17. We need to be one of the most improved teams in college football this week. — Dan McCarney (@NTCoachMac) August 31, 2014 He knows our performance against UT was unacceptable and will right the ship this week. Have faith. Bring people to the SMU game. Go Mean Green.
  18. Stick with Greer as the starter for the full week of practice and get him as many reps with the 1s as possible. Work DW and Means into the mix periodically throughout the week. Start Greer for the full first half against SMU. If his performance improves, great! If not, give Dajon and Means opportunities in the second half and see what they can do.
