agreed, we keep saying we want x, y, and z from our coaching picks and we need to be very selective about our process, then we turn around and start campaigning to bring former players back to the staff. Are they good coaches? it damn sure looks like it, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'd be a great fit. I'd rather have Morris feel comfortable with the staff he puts together than be stuck with former players who the fans are biased towards.

I went to watch MTSU/Belmont last week, and while it's hard to root for MTSU, i was glad they got the W over a solid opponent on the road Side note, Belmont has an awesome arena that makes me jelly.

this would have been said for any coach we hired, with the exception of MAYBE Fuente... but even then, he's not a name most recognize, unless you watch a lot of college football

While i like Eric Morris, and have campaigned for him, lately i've been thinking we needed a safer hire like Holtz. To reiterate, i think everybody thinks we are one or two small steps from being an 8-9 win team, consistently. Hopefully Morris's experience as a head coach allows him to provide those little tweaks to elevate the program. I'm excited.

Very sad news. I remember the grass roots campaigning people were doing for UNT to hire Leach after we let go of Dodge, seeing pirate flags flying in the middle of NT tailgates and whatnot. I agree on the enormous impact he had on the game. If you all have time, i highly recommend S.C. Gwynne's book 'The Perfect Pass' about the Air Raid offense
