I'm sure most of you already know the FCS national championship is being player in Frisco this Jan but just wanted to pass this along. 2011 NCAA Division I Football Championship Game Weekly Update, Oct. 26 The 2011 NCAA Division I Football Championship Game will be played Friday, January, 7, 2011, at 6 p.m. (CST) at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. The game, which concludes a 20-team national playoff, will be hosted by the Southland Conference, the City of Frisco and Hunt Sports Group. Pizza Hut Park will also host the 2012 and 2013 national championship games. The national title games were awarded to Frisco in February after a 13-year run in Chattanooga, Tenn. Ticket Information Tickets for the 2011 NCAA Division I Football Championship Game are now available online at ncaa.com/football or by calling (469) 365-0000. Tickets range from $30 to $40. About the Football Championship Subdivision With 119 member universities and nearly 13,000 student-athletes taking the field each fall, the Division I Football Championship Subdivision embodies a tradition of excellence through a high level of competition, student-athlete character and sportsmanship throughout the regular season and the championship experience. Former FCS football student-athletes include Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, Kurt Warner and current NFL stars Tony Romo, Jared Allen, Miles Austin, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Joe Flacco. Former coaches in the FCS, include Eddie Robinson, Jim Tressel, Mack Brown, Bobby Bowden, and Dennis Franchione. Ten FCS conferences receive automatic berths to the NCAA Championship, including the Big Sky, Big South, Colonial Athletic Association, Mid-Eastern Athletic, Missouri Valley Football, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot League, Southern, and the Southland. Texas Ties A total of 84 players on the top-10 teams in this week’s polls, hail from the Lone Star State. Of course, Stephen F. Austin, in Nacogdoches, Texas, has 77 players from the state, including 15 from North Texas. Seven Texans are on rosters of five other top-10 teams, including two at top-ranked Appalachian State, which won three consecutive national championships from 2005-07. The Mountaineers are coached by Jerry Moore, a native of Bonham, Texas and a former head coach at North Texas and at Texas Tech. No. 2 Jacksonville State has one player on its roster from Texas as does William & Mary. Wofford has a player from Arlington and Eastern Washington has two Texans on its roster, including its starting quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell, who was a two-year starter at SMU before transferring. Additionally, No. 15 James Madison is coached by Mickey Matthews, a native of Andrews, Texas. He coached the Dukes to the 2004 national championship and to an upset at Virginia Tech earlier this season. Did You Know? The NCAA Division I Football National Championship Game was played in Texas three times previously, all in Wichita Falls. Florida A&M beat Massachusetts 35-28 in the first championship game in 1978. Wichita Falls also hosted the game in 1981 and 1982. Idaho State beat Eastern Kentucky, 34-23, in 1981. The next year, Eastern Kentucky beat Delaware, 17-14.   16. North Texas: We have confirmed that several people within the North Texas athletic department believe that interim head coach Mike Canales would be a great fit as head coach. Link to Article

  18. Wilson moved around the Big 12 for about ten years before going to MSU to be Co-DC. He was at CU between 2000-2004, OU from 2005-2009, and now he’s at MSU. DL coach at all stops. He is considered one of the top recruiters in the entire country. North Texas could be a dominant mid major if they could just recruit and develop quality defensive linemen. Their location in DFW is superb in terms of numbers. He’s originally from Dallas and recruited the Texas/Louisiana area for OU. Considering the quality of prospects in both states, and how youve actually gotten some good pull from Louisiana (Carey) as of late, it probably wouldn’t hurt to keep that pipeline alive. Thoughts?
