  1. How much of that is the market? Frisco is larger than Denton and both Allen and Frisco have better tax bases. They also have large cities surrounding them in a fast growing area (it certainly was fast growing when Frisco built those stadiums). Denton has, well Lewisville is on the other side of the lake and then we have what, Sanger? We simply don't have a Plano bordering us. Frisco also has the Stonebriar mall, no chance of a mall like that making a home in Denton because there isn't the same market available here. I love Denton for the small town feel and we have a lot going for us and we should be better than we are. Simply voting yes to every proposition and reelecting the same fools to the city council every election is certain to change nothing. I work about 40 miles from my house and yet we choose to continue to live in Denton. When I was out of a job I looked very hard for one in Denton, or even in Denton County and found no luck. Denton needs to be more pro-business and pro-development and yet we seem to be unable to build anything more than new housing additions. Sorry for the longish rant.
  2. Odd, because we keep reelecting 'pro business' candidates to the city council-even if they bend or break the rules respecting term limits. I have many disagreements with the city government and freely blame them for many ills. I just happen to disagree on these points.
  3. Rayzor Ranch is messed up because of the company's bad finances. The rail is DCTA. Fry Street is, well Fry Street and I don't know why the private company was in such a hurry to knock everything down to leave an empty lot there. As much as I disagree with the city on many issues I don’t see where they are at fault with most of what you accuse them. This time. Next thing you know you will be blaming the city for Golden Triangle Mall being foreclosed on.
  4. I think the NCAA Selection Committee only considers your won-loss record against DI schools. 24-8 is more impressive than 22-8...
  5. The lack of intent is why I didn't say violent conduct. I don't know what I would have done, but sending the player off for serious foul play is the way I am leaning and probably what I would have done had that been my game. A slide tackle from behind doesn't always mean a player intentionally trying to hit his opponent, but it is still serious foul play.
  6. I thought Germany was trying to be coy and play for the counter against Spain as teams have absorbed the Spanish pressure and beat them on the counter and set pieces. They very nearly succeeded in this, and missing Muller certainly hurt them. Kram, what did you think of the kick to the face in the Uruguay-Netherlands game? Red card for serious foul play? I am not sure who I want to see win. Spain are a bunch of diving pretty boys, but the Dutch have a couple of those and some disgustingly filthy players in their midfield (de Jong will not be forgiven for breaking Stuart's leg)...
  7. This would be excellent, though not very family friendly...next thing you know people will want to be able to buy beer at the games too! "]
  8. I don't mind a glorified scrimmage to work out some cobwebs at game speed before we get to a meatier schedule. A blowout also serves to introduce new players to the Mean Green family.
  9. That would be one way to get my wife to go to football games! In the interest of the ladies out there, maybe let lineman wear uniforms!
  10. There was a nice write up on this in the Denton paper today. My link
  11. I don't know about Chuck E Cheese being family friendly. There have been some serious brawls there over the years (not the Denton store, but nationwide).
  12. At Florida reentry is allowed and there are a bunch of bars basically across the street from The Swamp. Those bars have tables full of beer ready for the halftime rush. Blowouts sometimes mean small crowds for the second half...
  13. Not just at Fouts, but all games. Beer sales in the Super Pit would sure be nice and provide a nice revenue bump for the program. Allowing beer sales would make softball a better spectator sport too and the NCAA already seems to not like us so what is there to lose?
  14. Unless I misunderstood you, you were responding to GrayEagle's point about making bubble teams play in would create more exciting first round matchups. In that case we aren't talking about 1 vs. 8/9 where the #1 already won one game and is guaranteed to have two shares we are talking about being one and done and getting just one share.
  15. As a huge Gator fan I can tell you there is no way FSU ever gets in the SEC. That would make Florida's biggest in-state rival stronger, never mind that rest of the SEC probably doesn't want them either. Not going to happen. Clemson is a different animal, nobody cares what South Carolina thinks and everyone else would welcome the chance to add another so-so football school to the conference (at least until they adjust to SEC football).
  16. Fair isn't the right word for this, at least not where the actual games are concerned. #1 seeds are supposed to win at least 2-3 games. That means 2-3 shares. The power schools & conferences will never support a system that could endanger some of "their" money. Giving a #1 seed a tougher first round match up will eventually cost them some money.
  17. I am going to think positively and say that we will be so awesome that we will never be in a play-in game!
  18. I disagree. I do not want it expanded any more. They have all the teams they need right now (actually they had them all back when they had 64). Besides, any expansion will not help UNT. I can see both sides of making the last teams in the field play their way in. I actually like that idea a lot. No more pissing and moaning about being a bubble team. Prove you are good enough to be here by winning. On the other hand that would make travel and seeding more a problem. I think we can all agree that the NCAA will find a way to screw it up somehow.
  19. A player must have permission from the referee to enter or leave the field. I know some refs (myself included) can be very slow to grant permission to enter the field if they feel the player is embellishing.
  20. I don't think that will be an issue as no team has ever won the cup with a foriegn coach. THink about all the Gus Hiddink has done for multiple countries. It would seem that allowing coaches to work outside of their own countries will only help the deveolping countries get better. Not that FIFA would ever consider what is best for everyone, just what can line their own pockets!
  21. The ref should add time on as needed for time lost. A player making a meal out of an "injury" is included.
