  1. I am for the DOLLAR DRAFTS.....The San Diego Chicken is soooooooooooo old. I doubt that even the kids would be for that one...how about the MAVS DANCERS.....I mean the Fat guys...are they the Mav maniacs or something like that? Lots of great Promo ideas out there, but talk to the great drex if you want a little history on the UNT Athletic Dept. and promo ideas.
  2. Sorry folks...this is not that good of a match up as far as ticket sales are concerned. Memphis is not a "draw" and like SUMG says...or at least indicates...Memphis has a "basketball" state of mind. So, knowing that...did the NO Bowl have to invite them? Does anyone know the "rules" for this bowl????
  3. Lifer...this is why I love your posts...you are so gentle and vague in your meanings...and...Barry Bonds, et al..."what a bunch of great guys"....without the "juice" baseball would be even more boring than it is today! O.K., let's not get this thread moving in that direction again...I am sure GreenBat will come out "swinging" too! Again, Lifer...you say you played soccer...so, again, at what level? Becks and Victoria are not the entire world of soccer....thought you might like to know that just in case. They are simply some "new" Hollywood celebs the media love to show. You may not like Beckham, but he does still have a great left foot...or haven't you noticed? He's an aging star hanging on a bit and getting what he can out of the last few years of his career...and, it has been a great career. He did make a great member of the England squad at one point and played a significant role for Man U. Now, not so much. Anyway...no problem for me...this is a nan-issue...what is an issue is MEAN GREEN SPORTS! GO MEAN GREEN!
  4. Mootpoint...."WE" do not want baseball next..."WE" want men's soccer back! Yopu and GreenBat want baseball next.
  5. New Stadium? Yep, we will have one, and I WILL live to see it happen...and I am older than quite a few of the folks who post on this board...yes, I am because I know who you are! Also...attendance was O.K. this year....BUT, we need to build on this and keep the numbers going up. 20,000-22,000 average would be nice to see next year...hey, I am not asking for the moon here! Then up...up...up. Some more wins and excioting games like this year...and teams like Navy at Fouts and we will have the "deep pocket folks" pitching $$$$$ in the pot for the new stadium. Notice I said "the" new stadium...not "a" new stadium. Yes, it is going to happen. Count on it! Dodgeball and RV make it happen.
  6. Who cares? The guy is a bum! Just another overpaid, overrated pro athlete whose head is much bigger than his brain! SNOOOOOOOOZE! See ya later Michael!
  7. Standing and cheering at a game is GREAT...we need more of it. And, I do my share! But, remember...you are not the only person at the game, believe it or not. Sometimes it is nice to be aware of others around you who are also fans, but who do not care to stand the whole time. My mother told me to use common courtesy whenever possible...you do not leave your manners at the door just to attend a football game!
  8. Let's wait and see...why in the world would you want to start another of the endless "let's fire RM" rants now...I agree...this is not the time. hey, it was a "learning year" for a lot of folks...some fans included...time, my friends, time...I am for giving Coach Dodge the time and folks HE thinks HE NEEDS to win...his job to pick the coaches and the players...let's see how he does in the coming season and years. I for one, think he is well up to the task. GO MEAN GREEN...
  9. AND...some folks on this board think baseball could pay for itself! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......
  10. I think we can look forward to a good recruiting class for Coach dodge this year...But as a "wise man once said"...."IT AIN'T OVER UNTIL IT'S OVER". Let's wait and see who actually signs and who does not. Lots of posturing still going on....GO MEAN GREEN!
  11. This is why you keep your mouth SHUT until time for the "official" announcement and press conference. Ark. is doing a great job of raising salary levels for coaches all across American. If you are a Hog fan...you better tell the Hog folks to SHUT UP until it's really a done deal. They lost a pretty darn good coach!
  12. Seems we have a "dual post" on this topic...I think one is on the "football" site too...interesting...as I mentioned ... my wife and I will be out of town Saturday, but I did get our tickets into the hands of a recent UNT grad and his wife who will make sure that our seats are filled Saturday..UNT WINS SAT. - GOING AWAY! GO MEAN GREEN!
  13. My wife and I will be out of town, but I have made sure our seats will be occupied...gave our tickets to a recent UNT grad and his wife. They are excited to be going on Saturday...GO MEAN GREEN....UNT wins this one going away!
  14. Would like to have seen Daniel win it, but the "oops" with the OU game probably did him in...I think Tebow wins it in a close one over McFadden, but I would not be shocked or surprised if McFadden wins it...it's all but a toss up in my book. And, really a "who cares"...Dallas will be no where close to picking up Mcfadden and I could really care less about Florida or Arkansas...don't tell my boss ... he is a HUGH Arkansas guy!
  15. This is goos news....things continue to go in the right direction for UNT....keep it going guys.... Mark
  16. Way to go, guys! Great news for UNT and great to see the Mean Green getting some well deserved recognition! SUPER!
  17. drex is 100% correct...UNT seems to have tried many times to schedule "locals", but the "locals" seem to have no real interest in such a schedule. Seems "odd" to me because you could sell a bunch of tickets and get some much needed ticket and concession revenue from such a series. Oh, I get it...egos may be getting in the way! Do you think??????
  18. AMEN, Mr. Mosely! Glad to see your thoughts. I get a bit tired of all the folks who do not see that UNT is a great place to get a college education AND a great place to play D-I football...or any other sport for that matter. I am proud of my two degrees from UNT and glad to be part of the MEAN GREEN NATION. Also...sure happy to have you and your son with us! GO MEAN GREEN!
  19. I say saty at Navy! Like I said...I love the academies and what they stand for and would love, if I were a coach, to be the "head guy" at one of those great universities. But, $$$$$$ talks...it might just be whose $$$$$$ talks the loudest in this case. hard to believe someone would take SMU over Georgia Tech and its BCS conference tie-in. With that in mind, just what does SMU have to offer????? Not much in my "ever so humble" opinion.
  20. Why would anyone leave Navy for SMU????? It can't all be about the dollars, can it? What a great place to coach and live. Have you ever seen the Naval Academy and Annapolis? I know I have a "soft spot" for the service academies and the young men and women who attend these universities, but, really...SMU?????
  21. Yes, too bad when a high ranking member of the Athletic Dept. sees recruits as "slipping through the cracks" to end up at UNT. He probably did not mean it the way it sounded, and JJ's response was perfect, but this is just part of what I mean by "thinking small"...we must start THINKING BIG before we are BIG! Again, no slap at Hank at all, but good for JJ in his response...the Athletic Dept. folks, above all others, must think, speak and ACT Big Time!
  22. The glass is more than half full from where I sit. I think UNT is as close as it has ever been to starting to ACT and RESPOND BIG TIME. No, we are not there as yet...still too many "small time" things going on...but, we are marching forward. A little patience is in order....the BIG announcements will come, the new stadium will come and the wins will come. I believe it to be so...therefore...IT IS SO! Keep your "eye on the sparrow" and you would be amazed at how positive things look. Always look for the bad, and you would be amazed at how often things are negative. Gee, amazing how it works that way. Chin up....GO MEAN GREEN!
  23. As some have already said...because it is a special place and a great place to go to school and play football. We have a great new coach with a VERY bright future ahead. If a kid wants to play, play under a solid coach and get a great education...the UNT is your place. Be part of something and help make UNT even greater. I am with SUMG too...let's go ahead and extend Dodge's contarct NOW! I had a great time at the games...home and away (I went to the SMU and OU games)...and at the Dodge Radio show every Monday evening. Great guy, solid citizen and a great young coach. The players can and do relate to him and he can recruit in our own backyard. Bring in great local players and you sell a lot more tickets too! A real win-win in my book. It's a great time to be part of the MEAN GREEN NATION.....
