  1. Don't get carried away. After a game or two of Meager starting (and it sucks 'cause I really wanted to win the SMU game) Vizza will be on the field anyway.
  2. The first :30 of this video says it all...
  3. "Tommy Blake Goes MIA at TCU Posted Aug 17th 2007 2:13PM by Brian Grummell Filed under: Mountain West, Breaking News, TCU Football Just ... weird. If the odd disappearance of Sammi "Where's Sammie?" Stroughter at Oregon State wasn't enough, pay attention to this one. Preseason All America defensive end Tommy Blake has left TCU. Officially, preseason All-American Blake was absent from the Frogs' two practices Thursday because of "personal reasons." He also missed the afternoon workout Tuesday and a single practice Wednesday. "Is he still on the team?"" [TCU coach Gary] Patterson asked Thursday, repeating the rumor of the day. "Yes, he is." Instead of being on the practice field, however, as the Frogs prepare for their Sept. 1 season opener against Baylor, Blake was back in his hometown of Aransas Pass, reportedly trying to sort things out. "Up to practice No. 11, he was perfect," Patterson said. "Unbelievable." And the next day, it seems, an NFL scout from the Jets showed up to watch Blake practice. And a scout from the Titans. And from the Saints, the Broncos, the Giants and the Bills. The attention, witnesses say, appeared to bother Tommy."
  4. Yep. 9/15 @Ark St 6pm 10/27 @Tulsa 2pm 11/24 @Memphis 1pm
  5. Anyone note that there is no mention of J-Mo? I know it could just be that there was nothing of note about him to report but I didn't see him at practice yesterday either.
  6. The second site you link shows Tech coming to SMU again in 2008. Would Tech ever agree to this?
  7. Vito was handed a roster at the practice yesterday.
  8. I was at practice yesterday (you can read Rick's blow by blow on the recruiting board as he actually typed everything I told him via phone as it happened...that dude's crazy but a good crazy ) and ran into Vito. Vito's sentiments were that our O-Line will have our QB running for his life all season and that we should start Meager against OU because their linemen are gonna tee off on whomever we put behind center. He also picks us to go 4-8.
  9. I'd take Troy if you gave me 30pts.
  10. Last I checked a scholarship was for a student-athlete to have his/her degree paid for while playing a sport. Played sport- Check Received Bachelor's on NT's dime- Check Problem is where?
  11. I disagree completely. I think we should build it based not on how many fans we actually draw but how many fans a school of our size, with the size of our alumni base, the size of the metropolitan area we live in, and the opponents we might/hypothetically/maybe bring in should we build a stadium large enough for their large contingent of visiting fans. I think we should do this because anyone who knows anything about anything knows that if you want to fix a problem it's best not to look for the sensible short-term solution but much better to look for the hyper expensive pie in the sky alternative regardless of whether it prevents you from doing something about the problem for an additional decade because of cost prohibitions.
  12. There's a caffeine requirement for playing in the Big XII North?
  13. Sooners should start to have the hairs on the back of their necks stand up soon. "Okie Lite" has been putting some pretty good talent (on paper at least) together in recent years and Gundy seems like a good coach. Stockpiling a little talent and T. Boone Pickens' money...crap did I just invite a PMG post?...might have that "Bedlam" series looking drastically different soon.
  14. I too find fault with T. McMahon...and mind you I was always one of his most ardent supporters up until today. I can't knock what he says because it is all true but I sure as hell find fault with both the timing and 'bruised ego backlash' slant it has. Todge is a major media story both because of his massive success in this media market and the fact that the high school to college jump is a story in and of itself. This means that quite a few papers and their editors probably want to see some print...and I am GREATLY appreciative. If Todge makes it hard for T. McMahon and the rest of the media to spoon feed our gameplans to OU and SMU then guess what...I HAVE ZERO SYMPATHY FOR THE REPORTERS. Think it's hard for a representative of one of our opponents to hang a camera around his/her neck? (hell, wouldn't that make it easier for them to "sneek a peek" anyway?) I know, I know, OU would never resort to spying on lil' ol' NT, right? All they've done in the last few years was drop their home opener to TCU at home and lose to Boise State on National TV. Sure, we aren't TCU or Boise State just yet but when have you ever known a monolith to take chances when the cracks start appearing in their dam? Not to mention that if you ask any UT fan with an eye for history they'll tell you that one of the greatest legends in the history of the TX/OU rivalry has to do with a certain OU coach and a spying scandal. Yeah maybe media attention will die down with losses to OU and SMU. If those two losses and a focused well-oiled offense and defense that can SUPRISE someone leads to 6,7 or 8 wins after those two losses (and I'm not ready to concede a loss to SMU) then I think the reporters will come back around. Gee, bowl win in his first season? Think Todge couldn't get a lil' positive spin out of that one?
  15. I personally think Ajani Banks being back is the biggest news. If he is anywhere close to being able to step in, even as a backup, we just got better. I know we'd all like to have another defensive end (especially one like Gilmore) but O-Line is my biggest question mark.
  16. From the article: Vizza (pronounced Vee-za) and junior Daniel Meager split time with the first team in UNT's initial scrimmage of fall practice Saturday, and they have continued to share time with the first team in practice this week.
  17. Says who? Does anyone honestly believe that with Meager under center against OU our season will be drastically (or even marginally) better than if we let Vizza have the whole season? I sure don't.
  18. I don't think you have to choose one or the other. My stance is I'm not writing off this season and I want Vizza to start and take us where I know we can go. Young does not equal rebuilding...if it did our season would have been toast just a short 4 years ago when Patrick Cobbs went down and a youngster named Jamario was handed the job of carrying the load.
  19. Theme song to the end of Meager's playing days... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXhXcBK2Rxo...ted&search=
  20. How is this suprising to anyone? He probably looked at the next year of his life and realized his was about to spend it... PLAYING FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE
  21. Q: How does a Sooner woman turn on the lights after sex? A: She opens the car door.
  22. He's exactly right. Lera has worked for both CBS and now NBC scheduling commercials for their different affiliates. The days when one of the major shows doesn't make its ratings mark make for dark nights in the Jackson household when she gets home. Scheduling make goods can be maddening...or so she tells me. One other thing... How did nobody take a swing at this softball? Come on people...Jay Dub? Anyone?
  23. Q: How do you get a one-armed Sooner out of a tree? A: Wave to him.
