  1. Plain and simple Texas lost to Houston except for extremely questionable calls. I’m sure the powers that be did what they could to keep Texas afloat. Reminds me of when the refs gifted them the win over us too. Part of the time-honored tradition of referees screwing other teams to the benefit of Texas.
  2. FSU got jobbed so ESPN could put Texas in. The big 12 is weak. They beat Bama when Milroe was a shell of the player he has become. Georgia losing grenaded the whole thing.
  3. Last March Gumms was talking about why he chose to stay at North Texas and how spring workouts were going with the new staff while on Sanoe’s show. A week later he entered the portal. Until week 1 of the 2024 season comes, I’m not convinced of anything.
  4. Don’t know about his grades but do know that, unless he took a hiatus from school, this spring would be his 10th semester and even at the minimum fulltime per semester credit hours of 12, he’d be right around the number of credits needed to graduate.
  5. I hope so but I don’t trust anything until the first game week comes. Most of the spring we were led to believe Jace Ruder was the clubhouse leader as the starting quarterback only for him to become a linebacker by the end of the season. Then we had players at other positions that transferred out dang near to fall practice. This portal stuff has everything out of whack.
  6. So with Earle transferring and Ruder moving on, if some P5 came and snatched Rogers, would we have anyone besides JD Head?
  7. How would that work though? Schools like Texas and A&M I could see that working for but what about schools like yours where money is mostly generated by donations and not necessarily generated by demand for the product. I am not being disrespectful here, the same would apply to us minus the donation part.
  8. It would be borderline criminal for anyone to tell him to pass on an opportunity like that. I know we’d all like to keep great players forever but if Chandler (or Tylor Perry for that matter) came up to me and said “I love it here and I know you love the mean green, what should I do?” I would tell them ten times out of ten that you can’t pass up an opportunity like that because it may never present itself again in your lifetime.
  9. https://www.ksat.com/news/local/2023/11/29/steele-dripping-springs-face-off-with-trip-to-state-quarterfinals-on-the-line/ Chance to stream him playing this weekend.
  10. That would be phenomenal. He is great and the players love him. #2 pick in the draft right behind Matthew Stafford.
  11. Yea I think it expires at the end of January so if it saved us anything, it wouldn’t be much.
  12. Speaking of that damn team in Dallas, it seems Will Kuehne ended up as a wide receiver somewhere well down the depth chart. I wonder how he felt about that. Similarly, I wonder how Jace Ruder felt about being moved to LB and never seeing the field. I hate that for the guy. He always seemed to have a good attitude and talent.
  13. You must’ve given Todd Dodge a free pass since he only made $185k. You also must’ve been excited about our conference performance this season since Eric Morris only lost to the 4 public universities that we know pay more than us. He beat UAB who pays the same and went 2-1 against the privates where we have no idea what they pay. Forget about firing Caponi, just give Morris a raise so we can increase that win total expectation.
  14. See this is all I’m saying. He reset the standard and that can be appreciated while still expecting more out of the future.
  15. This article was published just over 10 years ago at the beginning of the 2013 season. https://www.savannahnow.com/story/sports/2013/09/16/former-florida-coach-trying-turn-around-north-texas-program/13494320007/ You seem to forget how lowly we were looked upon not so long ago. //McCarney is in his third season after taking over what he called a "bottom top 10 football program," that had gone 6-37 under Todd Dodge before McCarney arrived. North Texas went 5-7 in 2011 and 4-8 last season.// //Getting bowl eligible is a big goal for a program at a school with an enrollment of 36,206 that hasn't gone to the postseason since the 2004 New Orleans Bowl. "There's been so many bad years," McCarney said. "We're just trying to give our fans hope, make it relevant again, make it exciting, make it fun. We've got to put a good product on the field for people to come back and support us. There's 12 Division I schools in the state of Texas. This university has been a great choice academically all over the state of Texas. It's been a last resort place to come to in football for a number of years. … Slowly, but surely we're taking some positive steps."//
  16. I agree. Many times they don’t understand the grind and the limited resources of the G5 level when compared to the P5. You need a different level of hunger and tenacity than at the well-funded P5s.
  17. Chandler Rogers plays for North Texas. Aaron Rodgers is on IR for the New York Jets due to an achilles tear.
  18. Yet there was the call that the financial backing of this program would fall of a cliff if we let Seth Littrell continue coaching after losing his second conference championship game. It would be far more cost effective they said to pay him $2M+ to go away and pay another guy at the same time to be the new coach rather than letting him coach in the AAC. There must be some money somewhere.
  19. Or gratitude for taking a 1-11 program and leaving it as a 7-6 conference title and bowl contender.
  20. Haha, I remember not so long ago when folks thought the same about our program. #hit6
  21. Unless he said looking forward to playing for the Mean Green next year it doesn’t really tell much.
  22. Now we have to keep our best guys out of that damn portal.
  23. That was when we first were going to the new Briles system and Wallis was supposed to be the guy. Then that stuff happened, Wallis had to resign, Bloesch had to try and call the Briles offense while Shanbour and that other grad assistant were left to coach the quarterbacks.
