Did you know in 2009 we were 24 points away from being 8-4 instead of 2-10? We were only 17 points from being 7-5. We were 13 points from bowl eligibility. Todd Dodge was fired in the middle of 2010 with a 1-6 record. Two of those losses were by a single point. A 3rd loss was by 5 points while being forced to play a walkon wide receiver at quarterback due to injuries. He was a mere 7 points from a winning record and being 4-3 at the time of his firing despite his team being eviscerated by injuries. Close games and moral victories mean nothing. I am not impressed with this staff thus far and they have shown me nothing that says they can take this team higher than the guy we fired.

While true, what Kinne inherited at Texas State is a far cry from what Morris inherited here.

He is from Arkansas so I don’t see that as a big deal. I’m sure he would like to play his last season closer to his friends and family.

Seth Littrell coached them to that bowl game but not in that bowl game. Bennett coached that bowl game. Bowl attendees did have the chance to see the new coach (Morris) during the pregame stuff though. I don’t know how you specifically pin that particular low attendance on Littrell, if he was the big issue wouldn’t more folks have come out to show their support for the AD in firing him and also for the newly hired coach?

There is absolutely no reason to attack this man for the job he has done his entire postgraduate life. He is out there doing work most of us don’t have the stomach for. Talk all the smack you want about his opinion but do not attack the man for his profession or his character.

I think it is largely because of how they narrowed the portal to two windows instead of being open ended like it used to be.

@UNTFan94 I love Todd Dodge, truly, but I think he is happy doing what he is doing. He gets to enjoy football at his own pace now. I just had my kids in one of his minicamps this past weekend. He is holding another one this weekend. Best quarterback coach in the country as far as I am concerned. Anyways, I don’t think he wants to go back to the requirements of a full-time gig. He gets to enjoy his family and friends too much to go back to the daily grind. Now if you want to take advantage of that connection and make the most of it, you probably need to do your best to grab Riley Dodge instead. I think that would be a stellar hire.

If you are of the mindset that FSU shouldn’t be in bc they wouldn’t be favored in a head to head over Texas or Alabama right now, then you should also be of the mindset that Texas shouldn’t be in bc if they played tomorrow they would definitely be dogs to Georgia and probably Ohio State too.

Plain and simple Texas lost to Houston except for extremely questionable calls. I’m sure the powers that be did what they could to keep Texas afloat. Reminds me of when the refs gifted them the win over us too. Part of the time-honored tradition of referees screwing other teams to the benefit of Texas.
