  1. I never weighed in on this point you make....but this was my first question when all of the controversy broke loose. Typically, if a person is fired, he is gone, and there is no opportunity to sabotage any technical infrastructure, any business programs, or to generate any negative publicity internal or external against the company. This was a huge oversight IMO that could have prevented much of this. I can only assume there was still some settlement issues that were undecided, and the thought was that not pulling the plug would allow for more favorable negotiations.. My other question was, if this was indeed a premeditated effort on the part of DD to discredit the image of the University, and could in fact be proved through investigative efforts,.....why would the School not fight the payment of the agreed settlement under such a clause that I would hope has to be in his contract?????
  2. Well, maybe not if Bomar ever resurfaces there.. he is enrolled on campus, my son goes there.....may be better than Bomar though....I think TCU is the risk, but I think UNT would be the best opportunity for "guaranteed" playtime.....
  3. I hope if this did happen and Dodge did go to SMU, and SMU QB sticks to his emotional comments and does leave, that we are waiting to provide an opportunity for him. I'd take those SMU school record passing TD's this year as a bridge to our next heir apparent QB recruit. New coach and a new proven QB, would be a great coup!
  4. Soccer team also stayed Holiday Inn. I stayed in Marriott Courtyard off of I-20, located next to Big Mall and an Applebees, and is West Monroe. Lots of restaurants in area.
  5. I forwarded on to some local HS players I know in Carrollton......Good idea, thanks for the post
  6. Will the Green Dragons come out in Black too??
  7. My only point here in the comparison is that schools looking to go to the next level regardless of who coach is or how well the program has done in past does not stop top programs from changing the scenery....... And, you are right this is a real headscratcher, may start a real domino effect in coaching ranks too.
  8. Less than a week after his Women of Troy pulled one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Division I women's tournament history, Jim Millinder is out as USC head coach. USC athletic director Mike Garrett announced Thursday that Millinder's contract was not renewed, ending his 11-year tenure with the Women of Troy. ''We appreciate all that Jim did to advance the women's soccer program during his tenure,'' said Garrett. ''However, at this time, we felt that a change was in the best interest of the program as we continue to strive to go to the next level.'' Millinder, 47, compiled a 136-70-21 record at USC since taking over in 1996. His teams made eight NCAA tournament appearances, but never advanced past the second round. The 2006 USC team was 11-5-5, placed fifth in the Pac-10 and lost in the NCAA second round to Stanford after upsetting No. 1 seed Santa Clara last Friday.
  9. They took that down discreetly due to the limited number scored last two years.....
  10. I made an post earlier in year on how surprised I was last year to see RV in the soccer concession stand, serving....... IMO a very good way to keep the pulse of programs and see and gauge the passion of the fans, reading and participating in the blog is another good way. This year, he was a frequent visitor to the soccer home games, and made an early flight to see the finals in LaLa on a bum knee and crutches, and rushed back to airport to be back in time for what I believe was the FB game that eve. Again, certainly not your cookie cutter AD!! Would have been real easy to have watched the webcast from Denton, but he made the trip, joined the faithful 20 of us in the stands, and pulled for his program.
  11. Was my suggestion yesterday on another post
  12. Can't you see, Can't you see.....

  21. .....may be harder to get good cowboy boots up in Hawaii.....
  22. My hope is that we have the opportunity to grow all sports that provide the University the options to grow and improve levels of competition for all sports. I love baseball, and would certainly support ($$$) the program. However, I hope we also finish the projects we have started. The soccer field is still incomplete, the concession area is a muddy mess on rain days, and port o potties are not giving a sense of money, class or permanence to the program. Retaining fences are temporary PVC structures. Hope these things are already in the budget since we are due to host an SBC conference soccer tourney. Have not observed the Softball or Tennis complex up close, but during a recent soccer game and softball tourney, SB players were having to enter soccer field to go potty, so obviously bathrooms are a priority for all MGV sports. Foul balls were raining down on unsuspecting soccer fans seated in the bleachers, some work left to be done on that. Combined events overflow the MGV parking, and cars are parking in fields and among adjoining athletic offices. It appears dorm overflow parking is in the field across from the Athletic Dorm, not enough parking there either. All of this requires money, and new sports require even more. If having to choose, short of a huge donation to offset either the cost of new sports or finishing touches on facilities under way, I hope we choose to make the existing sport's facilities the best in the SBC as a priority. We still have a ways to go on that.
  23. That was scored "K looking".... never swung the bat......
  24. Could be....or rather what sports they may have to open up for women up to provide equivalent. I do not profess to know the details, but I think it has to do more with # of student athletes or equal participation, but here is the detail. I think UNT is ok, I think we have more womens sports than men if my count is right, maybe someone else can confirm. Herre is the Title IX summary ED.Gov
