  1. We had the same experience at BWW down here in Sugar Land. They did try, but said "apparently it's not part of our package". I could see on the screen "You have not purchased this event". So apparently it was only available by PPV, even for bars. How many customers does a bar need before they'll pay the PPV fee?
  2. I have DISH too... According to the DISH website, MASN is channel 432 and SNY is channel 438. When I looked at the "All Channels" guide last night, not only did I not find the game, but I didn't even see those channels. DISH must only make them available for the target region. Better find a sports bar that has DirectTV.
  3. It's on Hwy 6, north of 59, on the east side, just before First Colony Blvd / Brooks St, behind the Panda Express. Just google "Buffalo Wild Wings Sugar Land" and you'll get a map.
  4. Wherever you're going to watch - The DirecTV web site shows the game will be on Ch 625 SNY (SD & HD) and Ch 626 MASN.
  5. Given the lack of response, I don't know if anyone will be joining you at either Texadelphia or SRO. It's your call. There will be a half dozen of us at BWW Sugar Land.
  6. According to this page, it is on ESPN+ / Gameplan: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/schedules
  7. OK, last call - I want to send a final list to the athletic dept. soon. Where will everyone be watching? Eagle1855? FFJoey - SRO 1960 or BWW Willowbrook? H-towngreen? island eagle - do you have a location? UNTLifer?
  8. I've confirmed that BWW in Sugar Land has Gameplan, and will show the game for us, so that's where I and some friends will be. It's likely that all the BWW locations have Gameplan, but you'll probably want to call to ask. Ed, if there's no one for you to watch with, you might think about coming down to Sugar Land. Just take Grand Parkway almost all the way, cut over on 90A to Hwy 6, go south, and BWW is on the left hand side just after First Colony Blvd. It should take less time than going all the way to 610 on the Katy Freeway, and a lot less hassle. Who else? Where else?
  9. Please Pin! With a 6pm kickoff, and rush hour traffic, I'm guessing we won't all be able to get together in one place. But since the game is on ESPN +/Gameplan, you can't watch it at home (unless you pay), and you'll have to make sure that your favorite sports bar will get the game. SRO NW Mall will certainly have the game on. There are several of us in the Sugar Land area, so I'm going to check with Sugar Land Buffalo Wild Wings (Hwy 6 just north of 59) to see if they can show the game. If not, I'll probably go to SRO, since I work fairly close to there. I'd like to send a list of locations to the Athletic Dept in case they are planning to send an e-mail out like they've done in the past for DFW locations (I'm going to check with them today on that as well), so let's get this together ASAP!
  10. I just got back to my hotel from the bonfire - first time in 25 years I've been able to go to it - fantastic! If only all of the students that were there would go to the game, Fouts would be overflowing!
  11. You should check this thread: http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/index.ph...c=37095&hl= and check with edcollopy. I have to go up to NY to visit my folks this weekend (at least I managed to schedule it on an away game weekend), so y'all will have to fend for yourselves. Mad Hatter, you'll definitely get the game on the radio in Spring. KAFR 88.3 is part of the radio network, and their transmitter is in either Spring or Conroe. I can't get down where I am in Sugar Land.
  12. I'm going to be at Fouts, but you should be able to see the game at SRO. But you may not have a big screen or audio - last week there were only two of us, and they took away our screen to show the aTm game. You're welcome to call them and confirm: SRO - Northwest Mall 9900 Hempstead Rd 444 Northwest Mall Houston, TX 77092 713-683-5025 http://www.srosportsbar.com/locations.html
  13. Happy Birthday! Here's to having 41 occasions to fire Boomer on Saturday!
  14. SRO - Northwest Mall 9900 Hempstead Rd 444 Northwest Mall Houston, TX 77092 713-683-5025 http://www.srosportsbar.com/locations.html I'll be there. Who else is coming?
  15. I call BS on the story as well. But I remember one year (1982?) when homecoming was the same day as TX-OU, and a bunch of us from the band went to McDonalds at 35E & Ave. D (when it had the "chandeliers" made from flying worm football helmets) for breakfast. The place was filled with Okies wearing red - depressing . So at least back then, a lot of them did stop in Denton before heading to the Cotton Bowl. I bet a lot still do. Some may even stay in Denton overnight. So I think it's good not to schedule a home game on TX-OU weekend.
  16. Well, SRO will have the game on for us, but I hadn't had time to do any "advertising" yet. I knew I should have posted last Saturday when I had time, but I wanted to wait until after the Arkansas game. I'll post the address & link for SRO tonight for those who need it. I've been debating going to Lafayette for the game. I guess it depends on whether the tropical "disturbance" will be gone by Saturday or not. I know it won't be a tropical storm, but I don't relish the idea of driving several hours through constant rain. I-10 is treacherous enough in dry weather. So who in Houston wants to get together at SRO? Who else is thinking about going to Lafayette? DeepGreen, are you going to Lafayette?
  17. What's this thread doing under "Non-UNT Sports"? If it wasn't for your post, I wouldn't have found it. It would be better if it was under "UNT News". My first year in the band was 1980 - the last year that Stansberry (I've forgotten his first name) was assistant director with Bob Winslow. We had a great show that year - we did a "Best Little Whorehouse" medley at the UH game in the Astrodome! 1981 was great too - did our show at UT. We had a screaming arrangement of Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor, kicked off with an on-field synthesizer played by Mike "Spunky" Brunone, later to be one of the charter members of Dan Haerle's "Zebras". Unfortunately, it seemed that the drop to I-AA purgatory affected the band as well... Anyway, while I don't know much about Maurice MacAdow, I appreciate the respect people have for him. I feel the same way about Winslow & Stansberry. I'll have to call tomorrow! I'm sure it is a BYOI (bring your own instrument) event... I'll have to bring the bass drum from my kit!
  18. Anyone relying on ESPN is going to be very disappointed - their ticker shows that we won 38 - 31. If only...
  19. Link to DirecTV's online listings: http://directv.com/DTVAPP/epg/theGuide.jsp Link to Dish Network's online listings: http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/whats_o...des/index.shtml
  20. According to DirecTV's listings, Fox Sports is showing the game nationwide! http://directv.com/DTVAPP/epg/theGuide.jsp
  21. I'm finally getting time to look at it - incredible! You can almost make out the guy in the red pickup! Section D, row 34, seats 20 & 21. Verygreen - hey neighbor!
  22. Thanks, Lifer! SRO - Northwest mall http://www.srosportsbar.com/locations.html 9900 Hempstead Rd 444 Northwest Mall Houston, TX 77092 713-683-5025
