  3. Just for fun. How accurate have past Sun Belt Pre-Season Coaching Polls been? Have the coaches even predicted the correct Sun Belt Champs since 2001?
  4. FWIW, my parents live extremely close to the Barry Center and told me the facility is almost always being used. They are having major concerts out there throughout the summer and while I was visiting last week a corporation (i can't remember which one) had rented out the basketball complex to host a weeklong seminar.... I'd say as long as they have someone in their administration that can book these kind of events, it softens the blow of the price tag. Besides, now all of the CY-Fair schools can host their own graduations instead of renting out the Astrodome or another ISD's facility. The sad part is after they open the new high schools this year, and two more next year? they will need to build another stadium to keep from playing varsity football every Wed - Sat. Pretty amazing.
  5. I wouldn't say UNT helped bring in the 2nd highest attendance for the 2001 bowl game. I remember that game being almost a home game for CSU and barely enough NT fans to fill in the middle of the bottom section...
  6. WOW! What an atmosphere in the stands. I have never seen so many UNT fans that excited about a game from beginning to end (or atleast the last 2 minutes). From the 6th row looking back at our crowd, the alma mater during pre-game gave me chills. The band was AWSOME all game long (and if you doubt the pride in the band, then you missed them SING the words to the fight song before the game started.. I don't think ANYONE could do that when I was in the band 3-8 years ago). For only having this team for half a year, Todd Dodge is a flippin' genious. Yes the defense was weak, Meager threw a bunch of BAD, BAD passes, and the penalties killed all of our drives in the first half, but they played a hell of a game. I don't think I could be more proud of the football team or my alma mater as I was all game long tonight. I know we are going to have a tough season, but if this is Dodges work after only this long, then I will GLADLY accept a dirty loss to SMU. GMG
  7. Actually while I was sitting in traffic in Norman I heard the assistant coaches talking about this on a post game AM talk show. They mentioned how basic the defensive play calling was and how they were happy the NT coaches didnt' change anything from the SLC tapes... it was a pretty classless 5 minutes of radio. (and this was followed by them talking about how they TRIED not to run up the score in the second half.
  8. Their student section was AWFUL. They had white pone /\ (yours) shirts which made them stand out in the first half, the camera did a wide shot of the visitors side at the start of the 4th quarter and almost the entire section was empty. It also looked like the Tech fans were sitting on top of each other in their 1/2 or even 2/3 of the visitors side. Looking at the stadium makes me really wish we had a new stadium with green benches (with backs) to make it look like there are more people at the game then there actually is
  9. Actually the band spells out the "University of North Texas at Denton.. the 3rd biggest school in Texas" You just can't make it out because we are 50 - 60 yards from the sideline and not high enough. But man, those Navy planes that fly over us in a couple of months are going to be impressed.
  10. Section E, Row 42, seats 17 and 18
  11. I was thinking the same thing. Did you notice that almost every play, except when he's scrambling, he has enough time to make a sandwich and take out the trash before he throws the ball...
  12. It is opened to all Green Brigade/Marching Band members. From the meeting we had the other day, the C. of M. is sending out a couple thousand postcards to past members. They are hoping for about 120 - 150 show up. I'm betting we hit atleast 200, hopefully more.
  13. The UNT College of Music will be hosting a Green Brigade Reunion on October 26 & 27, 2007 as part of the Homecoming celebration and Mean Green game. The Reunion is centered around two events: Friday, October 26, from 7 PM to 10 PM, College of Music Dean, Dr. James Scott, will welcome all reunion attendees at a reception in the Music Commons, located at 415 Ave. C, casual dress, snacks, beer and wine. Your official Band Reunion T-shirts will be given to you that night (or Saturday morning, if you can’t make it to the reception). Saturday, October 27, from 9 AM to end of the game, the reunion will take place in the Murchison Performing Arts Center and Fouts Field, located at I-35 E and North Texas Blvd (use the Fouts Field parking lot). Activities include fellowship with classmates and faculty (past and present), and a rehearsal for the pre-game performance. Continental breakfast, lunch and beverages, will be provided. Maurice MacAdow influenced many students during his tenure at the University of North Texas. The College of Music recently established an endowed fund to pay tribute to this UNT legend. Please consider a gift to this fund, which will be used for the continued support of the UNT Wind Studies Department. You may send your contribution with your reunion registration (separate check, please), or you may make a gift at the reunion. We are very excited about the upcoming reunion! If you would like to receive a registration packet, have any questions about the reunion or would like to contributing to the MacAdow Fund please call or email our reunion coordinator, Laura Russell, at (940) 369-8417, lrussell@music.unt.edu Click to view GB Reunion Postcard For more information, visit the UNT Green Brigade Website
